- jessejanderson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9you've gotta be kidding me... I hate when people cry "old!" but... wow I saw this tutorial like 4 years ago.
it's a very basic photoshop tutorial, showing you how to use an effect that's out-dated and overused.
if you're going to digg a photoshop tutorial at least pick one worth digging. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5GOOGLE CACHE - WORKS!

The same globby candy buttons in Windows Vista in 2007 = embarassingly untrendy
And it's "Macs," not "Mac's," people. - absoluteczech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5dont want to sound like a dikc but these tutorials have been out for atleast 4 yrs and no one even uses these anymore
but i guess if its new to you then its cool - Subcide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Arg, god how does stuff like this make it to the front page! Lets just add some 45 degree arrows and microtext saying things like "Saturn Navcom Reports Ready".
- UnknownBadger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3with the gazillion photoshop tutorials to do mac buttons you choose this one... :S
- greenbox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5i've never noticed till now that the buttons look like mike and ike's candy, digg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4OLD NEWS. This appeared on digg over a week ago!
No digg, reported as old. - Bigfat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Learn how to make what everyone else already knew back in 2000!

google.com - sembetu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Photoshop is the WRONG tool for this particular task. If you need to know how to do this for some reason, first of all use Illustrator, ar at the worst Flash even. That will give you a scaleable image, whereas the Photoshop version will be a raster image and not cleanly resizeable etc. For some help in Illustrator, check out these guys, who IMHO have some of the best (although not always grammatically correct) Illustrator tutorials I have see, mainly for the simplicity.

btw. the glossy style button is aging rapidly. start looking toward avante garde stencil type and curvilinear line art for your inspiration if you want to be on the front of the design curve. - modian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3#1 overused filter is clearly 'lens flare'
- ext237, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I just submitted the FINAL photoshop tutorial story on digg.com. After this item, everything else is dupe!
http://digg.com/design/Digg_s_LAST_Photoshop_Tutorial_link - J4c0b, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah it is. you have to go under photoshop and look. it wont let me directly link
- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Whoops, you are correct sir. I can't believe I didn't notice that. Sorry.
- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Basically the message is telling you that too many people are viewing that page, and the server denying you access so it can save its ass.
- wes121593, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Great just one problem: since this is on digg, many sites will start using it and that will make the Internet a dull place
- Iceduck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't believe that to be true. In some UI elements they're using the grey style, but generally the glossy buttons are pretty much everywhere in Tiger.
However, this style is way too overused in webdesign. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Dugg to death.
Coral: http://www.greycobra.com.nyud.net:8080/tutorial/Mac_Style_Buttons/
It's down too. - Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2No, "Mac's" was correct.
- 022A, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Top five most overdone PS tutorials/overused filters...
1.) Scanlines
2.) Glossy Buttons
3.) Drop Shadows
4.) ????
5.) ???? - chillypepper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"These buttons are great for website layouts" No they're not.
if you think these are great, you should also see http://digg.com/design/How_to_make_a_bad_website_ - ronaldpoi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Either Apple use them or not... those look horrible... this one is way better:
http://www.webdesign.org/web/photoshop/web-layout/aqua-style-button-with-photoshop.35.html - mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How so? "Macs" is plural; "Mac's" is possessive.
It would be correct it it said "the Mac's OS" or "the Mac's graphics" but it should be "as seen on Macs." - J4c0b, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2they have it here...

anyone have any examples of this? - NickCody, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I did some experimenting with this as well...

bushhatesblacks's Google cache (see below) does work, thankfully. It looks like it can be done in the GIMP too, with rounded rectangles, gradients, and layer opacity. - joel2600, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4for anyone that doesn't know you can goto wincustomize.com and then download an application, i believe, called stardock. this simulates the mac os bar for windows and they have a large repository of icons you can use for all the applications you can think of (not obscure)
this works great when switching your desktop from the standard windows explorer to something like next step. - Zeerus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2wow, GreyCobra, haven't been there in a long time, should definitely stop in sometime soon, maybe even do some forum posting. back on topic, Applie is moving away from this style, and either way, there are a million dupe tutorials available

lol i think we killed it - mouthster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1.. and the submitter's name is "DesignerDave" .. ouch
- DesignerDave, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3That may be, but they still use this style on their website I see (apple.com).
- noneloud, on 10/12/2007, -8/+7Eh. Apple is moving away from this type of button anyway.
- swick, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0this is terrible. no doubt about it.
- javiel, on 07/08/2008, -2/+0link is not working.
- HaloprO, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I like greycobra.com :D
- sirmoggy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0how did this get dugg? *yawn*
- D4r7h3v1l, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Stardock objectDock is what you are thinking of. I personally prefer RK Launcher (same purpose). My windows XP installation now looks and acts just about exactly like OS X, as far as the actual OS interface goes. But, I have no screenshots on hand.
- tomvendetta, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3sembuntu must think hes cool or something.
tomvendetta
http://tomtothevendetta.blogspot.com - sembetu, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5fool. the application is not Stardock. That is the parent company. Stardock has a product called Object Desktop, which is actually a suite of applications. Within this suite is an application called Object Bar, which replaces the Windows Start Bar and you can customize it or download a theme for it which accurately emulates the Finder Bar in Mac OS. Additionally, you can download Windowblinds, which now has alpha transparency and per pixel support, therefore providing the opportunity to make an XP system emulate the look of a Vista system. If you are not satisfied with those improvements of your GUI, you can even download an emulation of Mac OS X for windowblinds which will allow you to even switch your minimize, restore, and close buttons to the left and be round / glossy etc.
disclaimer: I am a multi-platform user (Windows/Mac/Linux) and I use Object Desktop to customize my windows GUI to my fancy. Additionally, I am a winCustomize.com subscriber, and a promoted Apprentice as a result of support for the skinning community etc... - DesignerDave, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1lol, now that you say that, they kind of do remind me of that... just less bulky and more glossy.
- Cmain, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2I guess that could help a basic user but who needs a tutorial for that?
- Tanpreet, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1"Warning: mysql_connect(): User z77_gcpv6 has already more than 'max_user_connections' active connections in /home/z77/public_html/includes/config.php on line 7

what does that mean? my guess is that the site is down but maybe you guys can tell me............... - VaporBro, on 10/26/2007, -11/+2The Dinosaur is eating that CHILD!!!!one
