- diargasm, on 05/10/2008, -10/+47They should probably let us know what the point of POWNCE is before going on with this new idea.
- Razster, on 05/10/2008, -7/+34Oh lord, the Pownce thing again... And look it is some how on the front page; interesting.
- inactive, on 05/10/2008, -7/+29No. Could care less.
- inactive, on 05/10/2008, -4/+24Who gives a *****? We don't need another site encouraging jerknecks to post about their mundane lives and horribly bland musical interests. There are too many of them already. We even have sites that collect all of the other ***** nobody gives a ***** about that you post on other sites and posts it on their own site so you can jack off at the sight of how much uninteresting and pretentious drivel you've posted.
- inactive, on 05/10/2008, -5/+24Is Pownce relevant?
- mmalone, on 05/10/2008, -2/+18For the record, this isn't a Pownce thing... it's a Cal Henderson thing built on top of the Pownce API. Third party developers FTW!
That said, I have absolutely no idea what it could be... - PabloIV, on 05/10/2008, -3/+16I've been on Pownce since beta, and the only people who seem to be really into it are the Rev3, Digg, Twit inner circle.
- alihaq717, on 05/10/2008, -4/+16is there really any point, no offense to pownce or anything but it's community isn't large enough for it to have its own mp3 player.
- helpyhelperton, on 05/10/2008, -4/+15"Is Pownce Developing An MP3 Player?"
More importantly, Who Gives a Flying *****? - mr804, on 05/10/2008, -7/+18pownce is garbage
- wphj, on 05/10/2008, -2/+14The problem is, you'd have to have all of your friends be active Pownce users before it was useful.
Not going to happen. - RomulusX86, on 05/10/2008, -0/+6Really interesting stuff what people are pulling off with the API. Pownce Monkey, an AIR application for Pownce, just became open source for anyone that's interested in poking around in the code. http://code.google.com/p/powncemonkey/
- AsSubtleAsABrik, on 05/10/2008, -2/+8Facebook? Yes, almost all.
- Jambi, on 05/10/2008, -1/+7Kevin founding it doesn't make it relevant if almost no one uses it, which is the case.
- mCanada, on 05/10/2008, -5/+10I've been working on this new service called "file transfer protocol" it's in beta and I'm looking for VC -email me. The great thing about it is that you can send ANY possible file type to your friends. .AVI *any codec!!, mp3, flac, .wav, .ogg, even real media can be transferred. It's web 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 ready. There's no transfer limit, so you could send a 30GB blue ray movie to your buddy. It's amaaazing!
- branndon, on 05/10/2008, -1/+8Is that pronounced "Ounce" or "Pounce"? I still don't get the whole pwned spelling thing....
- iPirate, on 05/10/2008, -0/+4Why the hell would Pownce be pronounced Ounce? I think you're incorrectly believing that it is spelled Pwnce.
- RobotBuddha, on 05/10/2008, -0/+4Exactly. They're all on facebook. I doubt I could get many to join myspace to get one message from me.
- KnoaWyls, on 05/11/2008, -0/+3Not sure what all the hate is about. If you do not like the site don't use it. I actually prefer Pownce over sites like Twitter and Facebook. I am not interested in broadcasting every minute detail of my day to the world and Facebook is so bloated with ***** apps that it frustrates and agitates me just to log onto the damn site. With Pownce it has a very clear and specific purpose and it is very easy to execute that purpose. I love it. I just hope they do not go down the same path as Facebook or Myspace. Just keep improving integration with other services and I think they will eventually be a winning site.
- wisewaif, on 05/10/2008, -3/+7Yeah, it's nice that they finally came out with RSS-based file shares for music and stuff, but the horse has left the barn.
Pownce just isn't that good. It can't match Twitter on community. Maybe they should have worked on it awhile before releasing it. - steveoco, on 05/11/2008, -2/+5lol who really gives a *****? These pownce stories are not making the front page because people are interested in pownce.
- truspect0r, on 05/10/2008, -3/+6Buried as SPAM!
- bincoder, on 05/10/2008, -2/+6I have an Mp3 player. I paid $15 for it and it holds infinity trillion googleplex gigabytes (depending on how many SD cards I want to carry around with me) the sound is excellent although the rechargable battery life is only 4 hours or so (can't have everything for $15) can they top that?
- inactive, on 05/10/2008, -1/+4Atomic1fire, please remove kevins nuts from your mouth
- inactive, on 05/11/2008, -1/+3Who cares about Pownce,it's like email but harder.
- djdingo, on 05/12/2008, -0/+2WTF is Pownce?
But thank God they are making a mp3 player, I have thousands of mp3's but no way to listen to them! - Wang, on 05/10/2008, -1/+3Agreed, I just don't see pownce as being useful
- RobotBuddha, on 05/10/2008, -2/+4Twitter has really good integration with other services though. It's pretty trivial to, say, have anything posted to twitter show up as your status on facebook.
- inactive, on 05/10/2008, -1/+3LOL
- BrendanSheehan, on 05/11/2008, -0/+1I'm guessing you meant to say you "couldn't care less"
- CarnivalOfDust, on 05/10/2008, -1/+2So you *do* care about it? Fair enough. I don't.
- PunkRampant, on 05/10/2008, -1/+3That's what I keep saying about Twitter.
- supermanred, on 05/11/2008, -1/+2I have to say that at this point for a new mp3 player to replace my iphone it would really have to have some super killer feature... and I cant really think what that feature would be...
- fkr3, on 05/10/2008, -1/+2They did work on it a while...... about a week's my guess.
- promovi, on 05/10/2008, -1/+2Good job MookiBlaylock, you corrected TechCrunch's grammatical error! They should give you a dollar.
- maxshanly, on 05/10/2008, -1/+2Looks like we have confirmation, Daniel has dugg the story.
- Philbert, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Pounce, it can be heard by Kevin a few times on Diggnation.
- Jammerdelray, on 05/10/2008, -3/+3I love Pownce, especially after the new big increase in file sizes you can send etc.
- RomulusX86, on 05/10/2008, -2/+2"Pounce" I think, not sure of that whole spelling thing either, same with Flickr, which inadvertently started the trend.
- inactive, on 05/12/2008, -1/+1Ha hahaha!!! *****
- AllYourBase3, on 05/10/2008, -2/+2yippee skippee, there's only about 500 different mp3 players out there
- RomulusX86, on 05/10/2008, -2/+1You sort through all of the music your friends and the public uploaded.
- DonKarnage25, on 05/10/2008, -8/+6They're only a few years late on just now tapping into this market.
- RomulusX86, on 05/10/2008, -4/+4Are all your friends on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace?
- boldfire, on 05/10/2008, -7/+6"Pownce is a way to send stuff to your friends. What kind of stuff? You can send just about anything: music, photos, messages, links, events, and more."
That, right there is the point good sir. - skeen07, on 05/10/2008, -4/+2Is anything relevant?
- TwilightXaos, on 05/10/2008, -5/+1From The Fine Article:
Pownce is a way to send stuff to your friends. Users can send music, photos, messages, links, events, and more via the Pownce web site or through lightweight desktop software (available for Windows and Mac environments; Linux coming soon.) - inactive, on 05/10/2008, -13/+8And whats the big deal, there are a million mp3 players out there whats special about this one?
- Atomic1fire, on 05/10/2008, -12/+5Yes
