- Steaminx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+52Do hackers actually use 1337? I thought it was something script kiddies and people on digg used.
- Sacrifice, on 10/11/2007, -1/+46If script kiddies who think they are a hacker because they speak l33t ruled the world.
- Stuntaneous, on 10/11/2007, -1/+25get over it, the word hacker doesn't mean what it used to mean
- bmartin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18I don't think hackers would bother spending that much time photochopping stuff.
- rebopper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15AOL kids.

- h0f5, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16So basically, the term hacker nowadays means "1337" language? Or even worse, color codes. Hello, why would a hacker need to know color hex values?I think i could be a better world dominator just by swinging a fruit knife around.
- ladyarcher85, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14hacking has nothing to do with wrong spelling and l33t talk.
- Error601, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Actual hackers or the 99.99% that call themselves hackers but are really script kiddies?
- pastaq, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11That hex Rubik's cube is pretty awesome though.
- emeraldik, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8If Hackers ruled... the images would be hosted somewhere capable of handling the traffic..
- arbulus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7It's actually pretty ridiculous that anyone who can use this so called "1337 Speek" can consider themselves a hacker. So you can replace letters with numbers and symbols and do amazing ASCII art; so ***** what? Can you program? Can you write a script (not copy and pase) at a moment's notice, break through a firewall, take down a webserver and replace Yahoo!'s site with a picture of Tinky Winky kicking Jerry Falwell's ass? Do you understand the basics of how that program you just wrote works and why it does what it does? Do you understand the fundamentals of computers and how software works and interacts?
Hacker != script kiddie
Hacker != copy and paste
Hacker != ASCII Art
Hacker = A real programmer - neutrascrub, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=xx-hacker
google haxor edition - Murdats, on 10/11/2007, -1/+71337 was invented to bypass word filters and whatnot

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet#History - Error601, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Neither. I'm an analyst.
- kn0xy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Funny thing is, "Hackers" do rule the world. And this 'display' would be more appropriate if re-titled to 'If Script Kiddies figured out Photoshop(c)(tm)(blah)'
- herrshuster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5@Userfaulty (#6793425)
sniff...you're getting buried...feel like a real digger now - Codename, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Can you buy a hex rubicks cube? Please tell me I want one... lol

I for one welcome our new Userfaulty overlord - FearlessFreep, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4If hackers ruled, a server hosting a page titled "If hakers ruled...." woud stay up
- crthomas42, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Dugg for the phone
- herrshuster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4@missilesilo (#6793413)
i warned you.... - explnx, on 04/27/2009, -1/+5At one point (more than 15 years ago) it was actually used to circumvent filters and such.
- Aliarse, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Title should be - "If Leet Speak ruled the world."
Buried as inaccurate, although, i did find the "Teh Roxor" one funny. - clickwir, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5It would be load balanced across thousands of trojan'd windows pc's.
- Jamminn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Exactly.
Anyone who has ever wrote
/*Awful Hack */
//Messy horrid hack; works but needs tidying
etc
etc
Knows this.
Hacker != 'Cracker' - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3no someone would hack it silly
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Hacking does not mean opening up a program/engine and inputting codes that you got at a Sticky'd topic in a "hacker" forum.
- dooms13, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3When i got back to edit it, it cut me off
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3cool its spelled cool and "how about that" not "how bout thet"
- Userfaulty, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7In Soviet Russia, Rulers hack you!
sniff..my first russia joke. i feel like a real digger now. - hypnotizd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Why post a link you know is broken and then say to use another one? Just post a working one

People actually used this to talk? I remember using it on bulletin board systems back in the day.. at least 20 years ago... Most of the time it was for secret passwords (you had to do an alt+[3 digit ascii number] or for signatures. I don't think anyone used it for talking back then. Moderation in the chat rooms was pretty uncommon since there was rarely more than 10 people online on any one board. Multinode systems were usually not free and rarely an Elite board or Pirate board.
- dahitman2389, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Thank you for being one of the few I have ever seen that understand this.
- FearlessFreep, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2but of course...my mistake :)
- arbulus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Uh, what?
- NinjaBoy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2If hackers ruled sites wouldn't get digg *****.
- arbulus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Come on, give the new guy some slack. It's his first time. You have to be gentle.
I feel so nostalgic, now. Come on everybody, let's have a big digg meme fest. I'll start:
I, for one, welcome our new haX0rz overolords. - Murdats, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2the word hacker doesnt even know what it means anymore
the word seems to be highly contextual - JaYBrooks, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I think that a Hacker is someone who hacks something apart to look for weakness or to improve something. You don't have to be a programmer to break something...
- herrshuster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1
@hypnotizd (#6793375)
except google cache cached the wrong page - quietcynic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Oh, please. H@rd |2oc|< and not H@rd |2oxor?
You disappoint me, Adobe(c) Photoshop(tm) software user. - krebcycle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Hey look, these guys didn't even use photoshop:
I especially like the Lols-Royce.

- NYCowboy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3these while nice photo-shop works this is more of what the world would look like if 12 year old ruled the world not hackers.
- dahitman2389, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3I ask myself... Which one are you?
- LithiumGreen, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2As a member of the 2600 community, I've yet to find a true hacker who used "leet speak" and poor english (unless of course they were from another country, in which case it's acceptable). This is just idiotic. -Buried-
- haggie, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1virginity, living with mom, body odor, and dressing like the retarded would all be cool...
