Huge Indian face spotted on Google Earth

dvhardware.net — Somewhere in Canada there are mountains that look like the face of an Indian. Pretty cool :)

      They're often used when building a road over the mountain or around it would be more difficult than just cutting right through it.

      Its not an oil well. There is no way that can be an oil well of that size. Not to mention, there is no pump station or anything else that an oil well would have.

      I think its a hole where they throw dumb people who think the hole is an oil well.
    • jabberwonk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It's probably a water tank or silo. If you look a bit south west from there you can see one just below a road. Now, instead of seeing it as a whole, think of it as a water tower. The white crescent at the bottom is the side, the dark grey circle (the hold) is the top, and the black above it is it's shadow. This matches the other shadows in the area too.

      It's an overhead view, that dark round shape could easily be a water tower, grain silo, or some other round structure. There's no visual indication that it is a hole.

      - belonging to or associated with one by birth.

      I understand how "Indian" is just incorrect. How about you guys just decide a proper name to be called? We have whites and blacks...how 'bout you guys be reds or something? Just pick something that makes sense instead of something that everyone else who was born here finds offensive.

      Apart from that, if you want to be neutral and refer to an indigenous people, the pc term is "indigenous peoples." Really, though, replacing one made up name for a people with another one and calling the new replacement "correct" is just plain silly.

      I'm Indian, and I think I'd know what the stereotypical Indian and stereotypical...in this case, it looks to me like a Sioux warrior...what they look like. And this seems to be more Sioux than Indian (or...to bring it down to your level...more "feather than dot").

Marie tribe of Chippewa Indians, a sovereign tribe recognized by Michigan, the U.S. government, and Canada, the preferred terms is American Indian. Native American is certainly acceptable. Aboriginal American or Indigenous American are perhaps the most accurate terms. I think the people who make an issue of this are ridiculous.

We've got a face on Mars, religious figures in all sorts of things from toast to chocolate drippings to a terrier's ass, and now a random Indian in some rocks in Alberta.

    And shame upon whomever said this landform looked like an Indian. Inasmuch as it looks like anything, it looks far more like a member of one of the tribes of indigenous peoples of the North American landmass than it does an Indian.
