Huge Indian face spotted on Google Earth
dvhardware.net — Somewhere in Canada there are mountains that look like the face of an Indian. Pretty cool :)

- Artifez, on 10/12/2007, -37/+17It's Tony Danza! Proof he was sent by God.
Who's the boss, indeed!- gcnaddict, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9I originally saw a different face. I didn't realize I was looking for a profile shot until I looked at the map itself.
The tiki face looks wierder. It's like the indian has a tiki guardian thingamajig

It's not like it's a completely abandoned location. There happens to be an outpost of some sort there.
So long as civilization extends to it, it's not immune from being displayed on the internet. However, that doesn't mean that it will be immune from such exposure if it isn't exposed to civilization. - PowerCow, on 10/12/2007, -20/+86the road makes it look like he is wearing an ipod.

- TOTALineptitude, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17I think thats an aerial marker for a huge new casino.
- wwwdot1jesdotus, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2I think it's the virgin mary. She was canadian after all.

Have you ever gone, "Hey I'd like to see my house from a satellite?" Well people in Canada can think of this too. And after they realize their outpost is in the ear of a giant indian (feather. not dot), I'm sure word gets around.
If that were your house, wouldn't you post the link on digg? - moonwell, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Build a factory to this *****. I sell this land for 1000$ on ebay :D
- joshjoneswas, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Obviously that is a Greek Goddess not a Proud Chieftan. Being part Native American, I can say that my ancestors were better looking than the way it looks there anyway! :)

Heh. - dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Anyone have any idea what that hole in the ground might be for? Mine?
- skyshock21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Oh come on, no one else found that funny?
- Genthree, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30My question is why is there a road through the mountains leading to a large hole in the ground? Seems a bit fishy to me.
- night141, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Its Doctor Evil's hideout!
- SpamHater, on 10/12/2007, -18/+3It's called a "tunnel"
They're often used when building a road over the mountain or around it would be more difficult than just cutting right through it. - themarq, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8That's not in the mountains. The mountains are about a 2 hour drive from Medicine Hat (the nearby town).
- ad0beaddict, on 10/12/2007, -16/+2maybe its a corry for mining or something..
- sundancekid503, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think these "tunnels" you speak of typically don't go vertically straight down into the ground.
- gnjack, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1@ SpamHater
A tunnel?
Looks like the tire tracks go AROUND the hole to me.
And a tunnel built for a track?
And can anyone see the exit?
(Sortof beaten by sundancekid) - testify, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4That would most likely be an oil well. I know for a fact there is a lot of drilling in that area.
- sputza, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20@testify
Its not an oil well. There is no way that can be an oil well of that size. Not to mention, there is no pump station or anything else that an oil well would have.
I think its a hole where they throw dumb people who think the hole is an oil well. - jabberwonk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It's probably a water tank or silo. If you look a bit south west from there you can see one just below a road. Now, instead of seeing it as a whole, think of it as a water tower. The white crescent at the bottom is the side, the dark grey circle (the hold) is the top, and the black above it is it's shadow. This matches the other shadows in the area too.
- Anoobis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Well I dunno but if you head directly south theres a big black hole about 20m x 50m??
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=50%C2%B0+0%2738.20%22N+110%C2%B0+6%2748.32%22W&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=18&ll=49.983486,-110.116235&spn=0.002646,0.005032&t=h&iwloc=addr - CraigJ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Well I dunno but if you head directly south theres a big black hole about 20m x 50m??
Looks like a pond to me. - ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@everybody debating the hole/tunnel issue.
It's an overhead view, that dark round shape could easily be a water tower, grain silo, or some other round structure. There's no visual indication that it is a hole. - monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1or it could be WMD . you never know ;)
- Russ84, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is obviously a shortcut to China...

if you're going to make up a lie in an attempt to outdo Canada in a Number Of Faces In Mountains competition, at least say it was like 1 or 2 presidents... or maybe 2 presidents and 1 vice president that didn't shoot anyone. But nobody's gonna believe 4. - thetaco82, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2kmoth, I can't tell if you're dumb or just bad at sarcasm...

- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1But what would you see?
- evilevil, on 10/12/2007, -44/+20this is an offensive title to me,
the proper term is "Native American"
/buried- Sagard, on 10/12/2007, -30/+19Sorry everyone, but you shouldn't be digging this guy down.
Just because Christopher Columbus was an idiot doesn't mean you have to be too.
>>Sagard - DoodlesMcPooh, on 10/12/2007, -9/+23Maybe they meant someone from India? I am offended you have not been taught about the existence of countries outside of the US.
- billyboobs34, on 10/12/2007, -15/+6Redskin drink too much firewater and toked peace pipe too long. Insult the White man. White man grow angry and kill entire village and spread disease.
j/k, if you take offense open up a casino and stick it to the white man. - HarryBauzonia, on 10/12/2007, -12/+4No, that's not the proper term since everyone born and raised in here is native. I'm American to the bone, boy.
Native - p. (nA-tiv) - belonging to a particular place by birth.
- belonging to or associated with one by birth.
I understand how "Indian" is just incorrect. How about you guys just decide a proper name to be called? We have whites and blacks...how 'bout you guys be reds or something? Just pick something that makes sense instead of something that everyone else who was born here finds offensive. - mathmanjeffy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8The correct term is whatever each individual tribe wishes to call themselves.
Apart from that, if you want to be neutral and refer to an indigenous people, the pc term is "indigenous peoples." Really, though, replacing one made up name for a people with another one and calling the new replacement "correct" is just plain silly. - MedHead, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I still think it's ironic that the same nationality who protests against the enslavement of their people chose as their nationality's title the name of the land given by the enslavers.
- Sagard, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10Doodles....What are you talking about? If you know something about my level or education, or the extent to which I have traveled the world, please, by all means, feel free to comment on it.
I'm Indian, and I think I'd know what the stereotypical Indian and stereotypical...in this case, it looks to me like a Sioux warrior...what they look like. And this seems to be more Sioux than Indian (or...to bring it down to your level...more "feather than dot").
>>Sagard - billyboobs34, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5'more "feather than dot"'
Sagard the Indian you are awesome! - acedeuce12, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Sorry. . . but as an enrolled member of the Sault Ste. Marie tribe of Chippewa Indians, a sovereign tribe recognized by Michigan, the U.S. government, and Canada, the preferred terms is American Indian. Native American is certainly acceptable. Aboriginal American or Indigenous American are perhaps the most accurate terms. I think the people who make an issue of this are ridiculous.
- jus1haz2, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1hahahaha
- enrico, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4in Canada, the term for indigenous people is "first nation"

- mercurysquad, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4heh.... cool. Consider changing the title to Native American ... though? Usually Indian = from the country India. Unless you're from america then you dont know what the rest of the world is anyway so you're excused :P [diggdownflamebait]
btw digg has become an evil website destroyer. 80% of the sites linked get diggpwned... many probably get their accounts suspended by their webhosts.... and for lurkers it's a bit annoying when half the links dont work.- eean, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3A just punishment for blog spam.
- mercurysquad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Since when did pointing out an inaccuracy with a little added humor become enough reason to digg down a comment?
- TinMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Zoom out. You will see another one to the left and up just a little.
- filth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Why would there be an Indian's face on a mountain in Canada? Besides, if it were really someone of Indian descent it would probably look more like this:
http://tinyurl.com/y345kv - aniruddha23, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21and I thought it was going to be a Dell Call Center.
. . . I am indian so I am allowed to make such jokes - kooft, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Now, if you look closely in the surrounding terrain, you may just see the phalanges of a camelus bactrianus.
- happybew, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3proper term should be "aboriginal native american"..
i thought you meant someone from INDIA!- themarq, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9As long as we're splitting hairs, I might as well point out that natives in Canada might take offence to being called Native AMERICANS what with them being Canadians and all that.
- mercurysquad, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Haha.. someone's digging down all comments about this......
Well how about Red Indian? Aboriginal?
But certainly not just "Indian"
Well whatever. - happybew, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6still in the AMERICAS...

i am going to go with engine. - apetrie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Again happybew, that means that "American" doesn't mean someone from the U.S. right? Last time I checked the citizens of the U.S. did not refer to themselves as United Statesians. Your own example proves why you are wrong.
Its not acceptable to call an aboriginal Canadian "Native American" as they are not American at all. - kotalafiel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2has anyone realized that the site lists it as "Huge Native American face....."
and as to the offensive nature of being called Indian get over it
it's a name that people use to identify you
like black, Latino, Hispanic, white - hoeydewey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0>>>> As long as we're splitting hairs, I might as well point out that natives in Canada might take offence to being called Native AMERICANS what with them being Canadians and all that.
Aboriginal Canadian is fine with me. Now why do we have to stereotype what a group of people look like? I do not understand the purpose of this?
- cardwell, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2she's hot...I'd hit that.

And shame upon whomever said this landform looked like an Indian. Inasmuch as it looks like anything, it looks far more like a member of one of the tribes of indigenous peoples of the North American landmass than it does an Indian. - totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ever so vaguely look like something else? dude, that's a frikkin face! nothing vague about it!! a face!!!
- LarianLeQuella, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wait, we can see a face frome space? I still don't think it proves there is intelligent life on this planet! It's just a trick of lights and shadow, I know it! Come on, the deconstructed the face on Mars so well.
- Zanza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1man thats awsome! i love stuff like this, I wonder who made it and why
- 3Den, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The black dots are water towers or some other type of vertical structure, they dot the landscape, and you can see a slightly offset shadow on most of them.
