- joeydoo, on 10/24/2007, -2/+48How to create that 'over airbrushed' unnatural look.
Dugg it though, it's a good tutorial. - nathanmock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+36Before and after:
http://www.aberrant.us/pics/ba.jpg - grammarpolice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28EVIL!! I swear these porno sites spoil my senses to what is really outhere.
- leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30Ummm, maybe he's just over-exagerating it to showcase an example. And wouldn't you simply reduce the amount of effect in step 2 & 3, you know just as he stated --> "You can adjust these to suit your image as needed."
Retards... - Steelfox, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24I was too busy looking at the chick in the picture to read anything.
- redrover12345, on 10/12/2007, -8/+27Good for that mutant look. No real photoshop retoucher would use these drastic, unnatural techniques
- brandizzle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19A really hot bad wax figure.
- OutcastJiob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16It's not really that bad of a tutorial; in fact, I'd think it would be quite helpful for beginners. The author just over-does it on the photoshopping which inevitably results in a fake looking result.
- didymus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Very interested in what a real photoshop retoucher uses; Any chance you can point me in the right direction?
Cheers - LR2_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11@ didy | Try checking out http://good-tutorials.com/tutorials/photoshop/photo-retouch I believe the original poster found this particular tutorial among the ones listed on good-tutorials. Good luck. btw, I'm not affiliated with them; just a site that I have been using for years for this kind of stuff. Best directory out there.
- spyres, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15A tutorial that teaches nothing that hasn't been seen in many other better preexisting tutorials.
His end results really suck. She looks like a bad wax figure. - slantyeyed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10sometimes airbrushing ruins the photo
- StammesOpfer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I think everyone can appreciate their products ;)
- Xanin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11think she looked better after just a couple of steps...too plastic at the end
- deadmoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9You mean the men's magazine look.
- redforty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Some examples of professional airbrushings with before and after.
Do to Portfolio, then Before/After
http://www.fluideffect.com/ - lbtori, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12So the before version of the girl isn't good enough for you? No wonder why most girls aren't confident... There's far too much airbrushing in magazines/ads etc if you ask me. But still, good tutorial.
- Javali, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13I don't care if its drastic or not... she ends up looking pretty hot!
- evil-doer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7ug. ill take the before picture any day
- Kajico, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@didymus
The point of airbrushing is to make it look clean and natural, which takes both experience and patience. The quick fix as seen in the tutorial is only an example of how things can be accomplished. The best way is always to come with your own technique. No one tutorial can give a true indepth works for everything example. You take what you learn from various tools and their functions in photoshop, from various other techniques, and apply them to an individual photograph's needs.
When rover says no real photoshop retouch artist would use these drastic techniques, he's probably refering to the fact that you need several adapted techniques to accomplish a clean, natural look.
Good tutorial for beginners, but don't rely on it to be your only solution for all photographs, no decent studio photographer would want you working with them if that's all you could produce. You have to apply several techniques to get it done right. - leafeater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Then enlighten us with some links. I am grateful for any simple tutorial, from which I can learn something.
Whether the girl needs touch up or not is beside the point, just as whether the result looks good or not. I view the tutorial in order to learn something, which I did, so I am grateful! - winterlungs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Terrible. I touch up my portraits, too, but women's faces aren't supposed to look like dolls'.
- dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The post was never about "how to take photos with good lighting" or anything like that. From the start it was "How to Airbrush your photos in Photoshop!" And instead of plugging your own site (which is NSFW) you would have been better off linking to a page that showed BEFORE and AFTER work. I thought the tutorial showed very well how to do a quick airbrush job, and it specifically stated that you can tweak any one of the steps to create the effect you want.
(And for the record, your flash-based site it horribly unnavigatable, ugly, and uninteresting, and your airbrushing isn't any better, at least from the rather low res images you have there.) - IcyStorm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Nice find... detailed and seems easy for beginners...
The end result looks too fake, however. - GrahamStw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Another good tutorial: How to Beautify a Face from Lunacore.com:
http://www.lunacore.com/photoshop/tutorials/tut018.htm - Negyxo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Did anyone else open this at work and have a heart palpitation when they saw what looked a porn page loading?
- matija, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5plug and NSFW
- iCallShotgun, on 10/12/2007, -9/+13I'm diggin' it because that chick is unbelievably attractive....well, airbrushed at least.
- BasouKazuma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Now even more people on Myspace will abuse this.
- protocoI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is how every single picture came out in my yearbook in my senior year of high school. I DIDN'T want it done (it said it was something you had to pay for on the paperwork?), and they did it anyway. Meh.
At least now I know how they did it! +digg - Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I think she looked hotter before retouch. Realism > faking.
- kotatsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Much better than the main link on this page, but I still prefer people to look natural.
- dustedbunny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yes. But acne covered Myspace users would. :)
- suppazone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2See that is real retouching. Portraits are really tricky - getting the skintexture real clean but still looking natural. Great work
- A5204, on 08/13/2009, -0/+2Yeah, it's amazing what cocaine and nicotine do for the skin.
- MajorD, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Well written tutorial. I don't like the results...looks like all that Russian porn that's free.
- kigabit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Taking care of your skin (sunblock, washing your face, etc.) FTW.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Someone needs to create a "digg" for newbie photoshop tutorials. I'm sick of seeing this crap posted.
- devo6273, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Well, the author really should have at least said where he got the picture. Wicked Weasel is a company from Australia that sells bikinis and underwear (or "knickers" as they call it down under). Go google them and buy yourself or your girlfriend something if you think it's hot stuff.
And no, I don't work for them. I just appreciate their products. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10It seems like an airbrush photoshop tutorial makes it to digg's front page every week..
- digitalArtform, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9overdone
- Fimus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks really good after step 1. If you don't want to keep going, stop at step 1.
- ChuckDiesel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I also agree that the result is terribly fake. For much more realistic results check out the tutorials on www.lunacore.com, specifically 'Beautify a Face' and 'Smooth Skin' (both on the first page of tutorials).
Note: I am not affiliated with this site, so I am not trying to plug it, just pointing you to some better tutorials. - digitalArtform, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1'Cause I'm cool like that.
- whackaxe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1good technique, but i don't know if it would ever come in useful
- jdonner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Another" good one? I'm sorry, but you can't compare the Lunacore tutorial with this one, the Lunacore is simply the best of the best, not only great results but also extremely well written. Even his skin tutorial explains that using gaussian blur should never be used for the complete face, because colors the border the skin will bleed in. And what this guy does with damaged shots is also pretty amazing: http://www.lunacore.com/forum/index.php?topic=322.0 which I tried it myself, but couldn't get even close to his results.
- fitzfan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3How does this guy still get dugg up? his one word response is the exact same thing the past 40 comments said.
- artman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great tutorial. I have been doing a lot of digital re-touching for people's photos lately. I follow some of the same steps too. But there is one plug in that I have that really adds a final touch. Grain Surgery.
http://www.visinf.com/
Though it does have good grain effects, it also is a great filter to smooth out grain and other imperfections in digital photos (especially old ones). I would check it out. This ain't a plug. There are many others out there. Here's a review of all of them...
http://www.michaelalmond.com/Articles/noise_print.html - KiltedMile, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Maybe repeated, but nonetheless interesting and helpful! Thanks!
- M0lybdenum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The tutorial is quite good. Too bad she looks like a fake doll now.
