- ggko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Leads to a restaurant? Is this one of those pick-your-own-meal type things?
- durazine, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15cause you're high
- sideshowjohn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13It screamed out Dubai to me.
- TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13as long as it gets to the front page for people to see, who cares who posted it?
- EsotericBoredom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11I don't smoke but that would make one hell of a bong!
- eddieo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13I've heard comments before that cliff is a duper...and gets away with it. Guess he has more friends. I'm just sayin.
I dugg the first post btw. I think it's only fair. - liveforever, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Yeah, this one is more accurate since it clearly states the world's largest "cylindrical" aquarium, when the world's largest aquarium "period" is the Georgia aquarium:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_Aquarium
So, yeah, I dug this one instead. - amandaw33, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13sorry like this description better...
- Derrekito, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Your point?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6The point is that its a ***** thing to do to bump up your own digg rating by blatantly reposting/stealing other people's submissions without letting the originals have a change to hit the front page. ESPECIALLY if you're already a top 100 (or whatever) digger who will automatically get dugg by hundreds because you have a big friends list.
As I said previously, I don't have a prob with blatant dupes so long as the person doing the duping lets the original submission have a chance, but that DID NOT happen here. Cliff deliberately denied someone else their tiny little glimpse of 'fame' (yes, I'm totally aware digg fame is questionable) by being an ass-bandit and stealing their submission!
What a ***** douchebag! - xfrankdatankx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3two full time divers workin on it the whole time thats ridiculous
- DaneTrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Oh yes it must be horrible to lounge around, get fed plenty of food, and have your tank monitored constantly for any danger to your life. Poor poor fish....
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4As thick as that glass has to be I'd imagine it's quieter than a traditional aquarium in your living room with the TV on.
- zcreem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Sorry Cliff but if you look at your submission stats, there are only, in some cases, 4 minutes between your submissions.http://digg.com/users/CLIFFosakaJAPAN/news/submitted
How do you find the article and write the description, and submit in less than 5 min.
Nice to be able to cherry pick, and get ups all the time, through friends I have know idea, but what is the impact on the original poster if they are continuously usurped, easy they stop submitting, which is bad as all we're left with is repeats.
As for better titles, what are you the Headline writer for some paper.
So please Cliff, lay off a little, thanks. - zcreem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ah! common where's the whale, ithout the whale it's only a fish tank.
- matrixbandit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yea I was thinking the same thing. Although it begs the question, if a bullet did penetrate leaving a hole and no fracture, would a fish just end up getting stuck, thus clogging the leak and fixing the problem? OR, would the water pressure be so great that one by one the fish would be forced out the tiny hole, being turned into fish pulp in the process? I think we should email Mythbusters.
- livestradamus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hydropolis Underwater Hotel, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
http://www.designbuild-network.com/projects/Hydropolis/ - kassaralzabadi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thank you :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So its okay to place you in a small publicly viewable enclosure for the rest of your life and just coz you have your every need catered to it will be totally fine with you!!
- brisance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's really amazing... I'm not a civil engineer but sure can appreciate the sheer scale of it, considering that 900K liters of water is 900 metric tons... and that's not including the restaurant, fish etc.
- zcreem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You'll find it here
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=&ie=UTF8&z=16&ll=52.520073,13.402934&spn=0.010889,0.016737&t=h&om=1
The square building in the middle. - Drizzit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wonder how big they could have made it with transparent aluminum.
- TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Ok, I'll trust that you know what's best for fish...
- marcomc2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2holy ***** *****, designers, way to go. this is truly awesome.
- anenokoji, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been to this aquarium. It's pretty cool. It's very quiet, it moves very slow.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2In the newish Melbourne aquarium, the plexiglass they use (from a Dutch company I believe) is almost a full 12 inches thick and its only about 4 metres high, perhaps 5.
This multi-story monster must use plexi so thick that even a god damn RPG wouldn't shatter it! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Liveforever, it doesn't matter if this one has a slightly more accurate title, the very obvious fact that cliff is reposting other people's submissions is really ***** and lame!
At least he should have the common decency to wait 24 hours to give the original story a chance at hitting the front page, if it doesn't within that time-frame then fair enough, but to repost it as soon as he sees it (so it seems) is just ***** mean, especially as he knows that doing so will blast the original off the map and give himself the credit (and higher ranking) that comes with getting a story to the front page!! - michaelyurechko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Hmm. Apple's 5th ave. store just got 1 upped.
- diktator279, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I want one.
- CoryTrevor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I never knew it was there. I'll going to visit some friends in Berlin next weekend. I'll check it out and snap a few pics.
- kassaralzabadi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@CliffosakaJAPAN
How bigger is this from Osaka's
http://travel.syl.com/whereisthelargestaquariumintheworld.html - derekivey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is really cool!
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Oh NOooooo!!! Can't we exchange you for the Cartman from the other universe?
- CLIFFosakaJAPAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Osaka (Japan) used to have the biggest Aquarium in the world but I think it was recently surpassed by the one in Georgia (USA). The URL you checked is outdated, but I'm not sure what the difference in size is. Sorry!!
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So how thick does the glass have to be near the bottom, to withstand that much pressure?
- jamesong14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow! wonder how much is the cost to make it....
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Think about those with "ocean-view" rooms too... those divers can see into the rooms as well as the people in the rooms looking out into the "ocean". I'm sure they don't, but they *could*.
- DarkAlchemist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lol. I was expecting something I havent seen. Yah, I've been there. It kicks ass. Lots of fish. ( :
- DJosephDesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder what the water bill was for that thing!
- ynggrsshppr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2The glass is actually really thick plastic, so the whole thing won't shatter even if a bullet hits hit. Can probably stop most handgun rounds.
- ubikuor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did you notice that the first link dugg (dammcoolpics) stole Fogonazos' contents without credits?
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I've always thought the world's largest aquarium was...the ocean!
Edit: I hate restaurants like that...i always feel so guilty if i order the fish! - booknow, on 09/23/2008, -0/+0That's awesome. Some more hotel pics here: http://www.berlin-hotels.net/68441.en.htm Must visit it the next time when I'm in Berlin again.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1A prison, even with every luxury (except freedom) is still a prison. Poor fish!
I would like to help liberate them. Eating them is one way of freeing them from the horrors of this captivity. - nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow, trying to write "come on" and writing "common" ... that's got to be a new low. I think you are also high there whale man.
- Derrekito, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Scary... diggers are on the same wavelength I am....
- Maxtrosity, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4I hope the glass is bulletproof.
- CLIFFosakaJAPAN, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4@zybch
Are you serious? Have you not heard that even Kevin Rose mentioning that it's really sad when a good story is missed by so many people; and he's for having good titles, which leads me into the fact that you mention that it doesn't matter if titles are slightly more accurate. Well when you have a limited amount of space in the title bar, but you are still able to fit more information that explains the topic even better; which in this case is that the aquarium also had an Elevator inside, I think that is the Key Point in my opinion. I would love to go throught that thing!! Well...I hope you get the point. -
