- deepdiggdude, on 10/11/2007, -29/+9Interesting photos...not amazing by any stretch.

Just in case. Server still looking healthy. - VinceNoir, on 10/11/2007, -133/+14Lame. Buried. There is nothing "high speed" about half of these photos. Probably someone just trying to get page views on their site. Once again: lame. Do not bother looking at the site unless you like to see only a handful of photos that are only somewhat interesting.
- TheProtested, on 10/11/2007, -10/+68that picture of the water ballon exploding is ***** ridiculous, wow.
@ vincenoir
clearly, you know nothing about photography... - aaronm67, on 10/11/2007, -9/+4http://www.crestock.com/images/contest2007/3779-2-crestock%20balloon%20burst.jpg
This one is pretty cool. - VinceNoir, on 10/11/2007, -32/+7@theprotested
Bzzzt. Try again. I've been a photographer since 1986 (traditional film until 2002 and digital afterwards). There was little here that was really that amazing at all. - estacado, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20The first one (the dog) reminds me of this: http://www.pandafile.com/uploads/29392097_wtf.jpg
- BoneheadFarker, on 10/11/2007, -9/+3Does anyone else think that the kayak looks photoshopped?
- CrankyPants, on 10/11/2007, -6/+37Ya, the title is awfully misleading. This isn't high-speed photography in the sense that it's shot with very fast shutter speeds -- some are but others are shot with quite slow shutters.
It's an exhibition/competition of photos with a theme of speed.
Some nice work there but not much is AMAZING. - TheProtested, on 10/11/2007, -9/+15@ VinceNoir
....then i guess that means your just a really ***** photographer, or maybe your just an artistic dick who cant appreciate other peoples work. probably both.
while none of these pictures were necessarily masterpieces and most of them were taken by amateurs, you can still appreciate the effort they put into them, some of these pictures clearly took alot of effort to create and all of them are very well done, and i dont see any of your work posted on here, so maybe you should stop being jealous and start to try something new...or maybe find a career that you dont suck at. - themoose, on 10/11/2007, -2/+28How is the viagra one high-speed?
- effektz, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7These are good but i found some really high speed pictures of bullets and stuff getting shot at http://pileofphotos.com/view/20/High-speed-bullet-photography
- vroom101, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3The "Speedy burst water balloon" by pajohnson is a WOW! shot. Check out the Photron video of a water ballon being popped by an X-acto knife: http://www.photron.com/gallery/gallery.cfm , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdMIsCF_7p0
"Flying Free" by vikasmal...there's just something nice about a sunset-ish/sunrise-ish shot of a mosque. See photo #17 at http://chamorrobible.org/gpw/gpw-200702.htm
"Snap frozen" rbphoto is another WOW! photo...how was the shot setup, or was this a right-time, right-place, only-one-shot moment? Check out the "Milk Meets Coffee" gallery: http://www.pbase.com/daria90/milk_meets_coffee_splashes - etruscan, on 10/11/2007, -5/+11I don't know why you people are digging VinceNoir down. He makes a very valid point. The picture of the waves is a perfect example... it's actually produced using a very slow shutter speed. When I think "High Speed Photography" I think super fast shutter speeds, freezing the motion. Infering motion is a different thing entirely.
These are all great pictures, no doubt, but the title is misleading, and anyone who debates VinceNoir seriously needs a lesson in basic photography. - mV0G7, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Anyone else see the minibike racer and think of the Burger King games?
- irishpunk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1minus the bee one sorry just hate bugs....
- KiLLB0T, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3@ vincenoir
Maybe the photos you don't think are with a high speed lens were taken when the photographer was moving really fast ... at a "high speed" - somnambulator, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3@etruscan
He may have been absolutely correct, but the 'tone' of a comment is everything on Digg. If (even if it is unintentional) you come across as a pompous ass then you get dugg down. - etruscan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I suppose. Always hard to discern if it's the message or the voice the message was delivered in that's being modded down. Digg should have reasons for down-modding a comment just like stories do, which would clear all this up.
- pusle, on 10/11/2007, -4/+39Good God! That dog looks like it comes straight out of hell! Some excellent photos here I must say, and some funny as well :) Excellent!
- ribs15183, on 10/11/2007, -5/+4Maybe it's just me, but that Dragonfly with the "goofy smile" looks like Adam Savage from Mythbusters.

you dont know how tempted I am to linking to tubgirl or something. - ICSU, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Everybody knows his gf, although not always by name.
- goggen71, on 10/11/2007, -18/+5Actually; once my family had a dog that too often looked like that dog... First we castrated it. When that didn't help, my father took it out in the forest, and shot it.

thank you.- sirber, on 10/11/2007, -9/+3The last one, the guy that runs with a plate, has obvious photoshoping.
- catalysis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22Made me realize how much I suck at photography.
- silverchrysalis, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13cool photos, but the captioning had me nodding vigorously in hopes that the writer would shut up or say something better...
- se7en11, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2The last one about the NASCAR was pretty funny. Or at least it got a chuckle out of me.
- unclenutzy, on 10/11/2007, -6/+16Cool photos. Could have done without the lame comments underneath each one, though.
- indyinno, on 10/11/2007, -10/+1Does these qualify?

- gregdogum, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14The guy tried way too hard to be funny with those captions.
- RoflMyWaffle, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2I am soo tempted to Photoshop a speech bubble saying "ooooh ***** man!"
I hope he was trying to be funny cuz that's just plain lame!

Coral Cache Mirror: http://www.crestock.com.nyud.net:8080/blog/photography/speed-demon-photography-76.aspx - pascalosti, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13I love the expression on the girl in roller coaster, makes me laugh.
- chocolatespoon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2It's a good thing her mother had an arm around her, cuz that seat belt does not look very secure.
- ladofdestiny, on 10/11/2007, -2/+29what's the go with the last one? that's not amazing at all.
- dmadip, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2so i guess there are no rules aginest photo chopping and HDR paint jobs.
- dbr_onix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Your.. against cropping?
I can understand the dislike of the over-contrasted/saturated "HDR" look, but.. cropping? - ungamedplayer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I think you'll find that the term photo "chopping" was the the original term used by people who were paid to edit photos for magazines. The software "photo shop" replaced this term due to the popularity of the software.
These people did more than just "crop" the image, quite often they'd print the image out large scale, edit it with a real airbrush, then take another photo of the original (smell the quality loss!), then use that new photo.
The original poster is correct in his terminology, he/she might be late.. but is correct.
- dbr_onix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Your.. against cropping?
- aaaaa, on 10/11/2007, -7/+3I read 'high speed pornography'... damn, what a disappointment
- beerbarron, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Some incredible photography there, and some mediocre, the dogs are fantastic as well as the waterbaloon, the one of the viagra car, is a nice photo, but no real skill was required. Loved the one of the bloak in the boat, nicely framed to give the impression he's about to land on the sand.
- f4nt0m4s, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2nice photos but anyway we can see them in hi-def?
- simplejoe79, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Cool pics.
- JustLaNavigator, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6So does anyone have any ideas as to how the glass with water was achieved?
- CaviMike, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"Waiter! Water, please."
- shredswithpiks, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I'd bet the author's speculation actually is accurate...
- CZzyzx41, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3My guess for this, as well as the water balloon was setting up the shot, then using burst mode and doing this over and over and over for hours until you get the perfect one. I've seen a lot of photography like this. There's some skill in getting the color and lighting correct and setting up the right composition on the object. After that, it's persistence and dumb luck. Good photos, surely but not quite as hard as it looks. Just requires a little skill and a lot of patience.
- JustLaNavigator, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0Oh right, well thank you.
And i want to add, why the hell have i been dugg down for asking a question? - skankyBacon, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2Better question: why do you care?
- rhodin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Typically in studio shots, water isn't actually used. It isn't viscous enough for most effects. Those cold cans of pop you see in Coke or Pepsi ads? That's not water either, it's glycerin. Relatively easy to find and works wonders, so that'd be my guess (as an actual photographer).
Cheers. - skankyBacon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1oops, ignore this
- YvesKlein, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9A few of these are the opposite of high speed. Some use a slow shutter speed to show movement.
- TheKingOfHell, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1The photos are so amazing I didn't care about the trying-to-be-funny comments. Dugg!
- Uhhh, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I found this one on CNNSI yesterday. I think it's great.
http://i.cnn.net/si/multimedia/photo_gallery/0706/gallery.most.fun.to.watch/images/tomlinson.jpg - techsmack, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Some aren't quite HIGH speed, but they are some great photos. One photo, the beach with the water is actually a slow speed capture, causing the water to be smooth, and clean, not crisp and lifeless. But equally as much beauty can be found in lower speed shots as higher speed ones.
- Pheter, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I love the yellowy-orange colors. A very well composed shot, possibly a tad dark though.
Some excellent pictures here! - Topher06, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Cool, but its not a technology article. Where is that damn Digg photography category!
- bjarkebech, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I want hi-res versions of them.
- robalesi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The Water Balloon FTW!
- jdpalite, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"Flying Free by vikasmal
This photo of a sixteenth century mosque really captures the beauty of time, architecture and nature. As one of the comments said, with another shot metered for the birds it could've made an amazing HDR composition."
That would require the flying birds to not move while the second exposure was taken.- skankyBacon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I would kill for a hi-res version of that image. It'd make a fantastic desktop background.
- PhilH, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Not every photo has to be "HDR" to look good. What's wrong with a normal image? Silhouettes can look good!
I would also like to see this as a wallpaper.
- banannapeels, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Can anyone explain the clockwork orange caging on the face of the dog?
- magdela, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0yeah, wtf is that
- Thumpster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Kinda sad that the contest will be won by somebody pandering to his Internet buddies looking to sway the vote.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/leviathor/529795367/
It's a damn fine photo, but not the best "speed demon" shot for sure. And certainly not by a 30 vote margin.
There are much more deserving photos in the pool. - paulocon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Some absolutely amazing shots there.
- Feel free to link to this at http://www.photographyvoter.com - qwert12345, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Some nice pictures.. but on a side note .. this ain't high speed photography.. I thought this is more of fast shutter combination or some with slow shutter speeds. I would call most of these pictures as some good photography skills. HS photography is more like 2000fps or may be higher..
Yes the balloon picture or couple more can be called *real* HS photography..anyways great job.. - Mcfull, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yes indeed, some great shots!
That's mine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mcfull/421642585/in/set-72157600167048750/ - martinraul, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1wow, the three-legged horse shock me bad...
- n8o8, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It was like watching a slideshow on acid at Bob Saget's house...
- Jawsome, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Second pic from the bottom is a motion blurred still shot. Pretty lame.
- Animal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I was wondering if anyone else noticed that. Lame indeed.
- yermomlykewoah, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The mother and the daughter on the roller coaster photo was totally jacked from the Six Flags commercial.
- icebofh, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Check out this crazy shot!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jauderho/219802045/
http://www.crestock.com/blog/photography/contest2007/entry.aspx?id=3378 - cklol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1There are a few good photos there, but the mosque one is heavily manipped or I'm a ***** stapler.

Don't let external end users see exception messages and stack traces. You have just told the world you are running SQL Server and .NET2. Redirect exceptions to a log and give the end users a friendly 'Sorry about that, we had a problem. Try later' page.

- obxjdt, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1server crashed......
- GeneralGore, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I would hate to be the guy who was taking the picture of the greyhound.
- regiwon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Many of the photos are really nice. However, with so many photos getting touched up by PhotoShop these days, I sometimes wish that some kind of notation accompanies all photos verifying that the photo seen was taken "as is" or enhanced with PhotoShop to become digital art, as opposed to actual photographic art (which showcases pure photography skill). Both photography skills and graphic design skills are fantastic skills to have, but I'm personally curious how a beautiful shot is produced, that's all.
- lexington86, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1mmmmmmmmmm how I love stack traces.......

- OpCzar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I just don't see a common theme with these pictures. Sure some are nice but I can just visit flickr for that...
- sl33stak, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1These are incredible. The glass of what and the mosque take the cake. Color, composition, movement, framing. I wish I shot like that!
- Balk2K, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The guy with the cake has clearly been Photoshopped, you don't get motion blur on just one edge like that straight out of the camera
