If you drink the best beers in the world, then you'd know that the BJCP defines the style of Dry Stout with Guinness.

Further, that means the Guinness is defining a style by which other brewery's are trying to brew to (i.e. emulate), I think that qualifies it as a "Real Stout". Whether you like it or not is one thing, but you can't say that it isn't a real stout or a good commercial example of one.

...but I find it strange that you all are digging up a guy who calls Guinness a strong beer and goes straight to assuming this guy is a Bud drinker just because he say's Guinness sucks ass. IMO Guinness is a weaker representation of the style when it comes to what is bottled and sold over here in the states, but as stumblin said it's still a fine enough brew. Well, Guinness Beer does have the same ingredients as Bread. OK just about any beer does. Guinness just makes some of the best.
So I guess Guinness IS one of the major food groups. ;-)

People think they are drinking some ancient Irish tradition. 1961 when this brew started. Hell of a lot better than "football beer" or "big brother beer". People need to take the training wheels off and drink a real stout.
