- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+137Well, if you think about it, that's kind of what beards are. Face pubes.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -8/+98Amazing? It kind of looks like he grew pubes around his face...
- badfrog, on 10/12/2007, -3/+91I'm going to convert my pr0n collection to vintage 70's style!
- crilen007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34Soft Airbrushed chicks with Coarse pubic beard hairs?
I bet there are some weirdos out there who would pay.
Start a site lol. - mdew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31face pubes? Scott Tenorman Must Die!
- chmod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22"Soft Airbrushed chicks with Coarse pubic beard hairs?"
Holy *****, let me get out my check book! - the_penguin_boy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+23Now you too can look like Chuck Norris!
- merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16I don't know about "Ultra-realistic", but it's certainly very good.
Of course, this wouldn't be frontpaged w/o hyperbole in the title, would it? - jdb252, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Awesome... I never knew I could make celebrities look like they have beards so easily.
...
No seriously, I tried that out... +digg. - NeilM, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13That's pretty amazing.
- al28p, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I love custom brushes, its truely one of the most powerful features of photoshop. The possibilities are endless.
- chmod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You know that you can download the trial for free right?
- macxprt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Ha. I am gonna find a picture of George Bush and make him look like a Hasidim.
- nhprm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Its a good technique, but, I think it needs some refining where the texture meets the skin. His upper lip looks fake in comparison to the rest of the 'ultrarealistic' beard.
- captainchris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6This will allow for prepubescent kids to look older on the internet, there i said it.

"I love custom brushes, its truely one of the most powerful features of photoshop."
I love them too, but it kills me how there are so many Photoshop tutorials that don't even require Photoshop. Good tutorial if you've never played with brushes, but not Photoshop specific, really.
It's one of the reasons I love The GIMP. I wouldn't call it one of the most powerful features (I could name at least 5 more powerful features of graphics programs), though possibly one of the most useful for those of us who don't have a USB stencil/pen drawing pad, and want to make quick work of large intricate (but random) areas quickly for light artistic work (websites, backgrounds, ie. not printed media), especially using stock pictures that you don't want looking like 50 other sites who use it.
Not sure how many "pube beards" I'd need to make, but I could see using this to give myself one sweet afro. - OSXpert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5But....I already have a beard....
- tylerni7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hm when I read your comment it had 69 diggs... coincidence? I think not! Well I really do think so, but it's still funny.
- duster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Find a girl that doesn't shave her crotch and give lots of oral sex. You'll have furry teeth in no time.
- FishPoisonCon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4good technique, bad execution...
upper lip and left (his right) cheek could use some help... and the over all effect isnt sharp enough to be convincing - nmaster64, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I sense an oncoming rush of furries...
- shad0w, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Am I the only one who notices that articles hitting the main page seem to jump all over the place?

OK, just for you, I changed his race:

By the way folks, don't take it as a political statement. I picked Cheney out of the clear blue. I am completely non-partisan: I dislike all politicians equally. - dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's not using any filters etc only in the latest version of Photoshop, just brushes, that really haven't changed for many a version.. The technique is the same, it'll apply to any version, and with a bit of interpreting, other programs..
Anyway, the final result looks okay, as said, it needs work on the edges, the first image on the third page look far more belivable around the mouth.. But nothing that you couldn't sort if you do it.
- Ben - eurleif, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The photoshopping is pretty obvious right under the middle of the nose. There's a very hard edge.
- KSUdesigner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25 o'clock shadow: select an area, feather lightly, add some monochromatic noise (on a new layer of course) set layer mode to darken or multipy, reduce opacity
stubble: same as above but add more noice and reduce opacity less - keeganzero, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@ mdew
I was thinking the same exacting thing when I read that post.
"Can you tell me where the pube fair is?" - board2, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1That's great find

what am i supposed to do? - D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think this is kinda cool, i suck at photoshop, but it is still pretty cool......
- TheKingInYellow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2good job! can we try stubble and 5o'clock shadow next?
- macxprt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Quit being such a tease and post a link. Otherwise - SHUT UP!
e.g.; I know of a site where you can do this and that and it is much better than this.
See? - without a link to backup your post, it is worthless. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You don't understand. This was in the days of PS6, maybe early PS7, but I'm thinking early PS6.
There is no link, their tutorials on-site don't go back that far. It's all CS now. -.- - PsychoPNut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1-1 for being Asian....(don't worry)....and not a girl
- kool002, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it is kool
- KSUdesigner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Does it matter how old a technique really is? If it isn't broken, don't fix it. Though this guy's technique could use a little fixing. I think you'll find a lot of professionals use techniques that have been around for many many years.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've seen a better hair brushing tutorial on adobe.com, and it wasn't pubes! It actually looked photorealistic(making a bald developer a hippy), unlike this obvious manip. Though.. the more he added colors... the worse it looks, the all black looked most realistic.

@nullmind
"I would love to see the same tutorial for GIMP in 4 simple pages. Maybe you could post one?"
Well, I hardy found four pages necessary; instead I link to the original tutorial and note what you have to do different in Gimp.

- davidjames81, on 11/10/2008, -0/+0if you have a beard already how about using photoshop to "grow" all your hair back.
http://www.hairlosslaser.info - asics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow, that's really amazing. Photoshop Rocks
http://www.asicsshoes.us/ - johnjreiser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's a great article, but I realized how old it was when I noticed the Jaguar/OS 9-ish look of Photoshop.
- flypcide, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Awesome! I alwasy wanted to know what I'd look like as a cast member on Deadwood!
- SwordofKahless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Why not just go to sickbay and have the doc use a follicle regenerator to create the real thing.
- dylanparry, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1It's an interesting article, but I can't help thinking that an article written *three years* ago that uses Photoshop 7 (we're up to 9 now) could potentially be a bit old ;)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1OK, guys, I haven't played in Photoshop much, and this was a fast and sloppy one, but here it is:
http://penguinpetes.com/images/bearded_cheney.jpg
Comments...(nervous gulp)...welcome. Did I at least get the technique down by the standards of the tutorial? - PsychoPNut, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I know most of you said it already so thumbs down me if you will but that cool
