- dmron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+59Yah, I totally appreciate this guys work. It seems kind of silly but the "fun" logos on holidays and other special occasions add a lot of character to a site which is so simple.
- pumacub, on 10/12/2007, -7/+27You mean the word "Google" with bad photoshop effects and different colored letters?
- eklass, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15i agree completely. google also knows not to over-do it. they change up the logo only sparsely, making it that even more fun to see when it does change
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Bad PS effects aside, the logo works. You see six RGBY colored letters in a row and your mind thinks "Google".
- LR2_, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Here is the offical holiday logo archive http://www.google.com/intl/en/holidaylogos.html
- gangavalli, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I hope you guys wont miss this site: http://www.Google-Logos.com/
Its a complete google logos collection. More complete than the holidays logos page on google.com
In there is everything. Happy Browsing! - pumacub, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I love the logos, makes me want to learn to draw better.
- kwilliam71, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Unknown??? Seriously, I can't tell you how many times I've seen stories on this guy, but it's been several. He does some cool stuff on his handy dandy Wacom tablet.
- afeitarse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Sure. We all are amazed at the great pyramids in Egypt, but it doesn't mean that we know exactly who designed them and built them.
- bakagaigin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The question is, will the Google logo be remembered as well as the pyramids say, 4000 years from now?
- sosuke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6could be cause his only mention of the logo is in a damn pdf
http://www.kedardesigns.com/samples1.pdf
and he links that pdf to another pdf, arg pdfs - Namco, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13Too bad the original artist Ruth Kedar, a local Palo Alto artist, never gets credidted with the design of the main google logo.
- lancefisher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4A huge following... except for Miro's family: http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20060420/1827251.shtml
- diaverde238, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Kind of sucks that he didn't do one for Memorial Day. I wonder what they criteria he and his group uses to pick which days he does.
- Sagarian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3add in whatever stock options he got back in 2000, and he's the most wildly overpaid logo designer in history I'm sure!
those funky logos do brigthen the day though. - pumacub, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6The logo does work, that's for sure, but it isn't art.
Many many people have a designer's eye, but few have the ability to draw and illustrate. - ei8htball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I always wondered who came up with those crazy logos...
- kadio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2persian new year ftw.
http://www.google.com/intl/en/logos/persian_newyear06.gif - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2An internship at Google. Man, that must have been sweet. I wonder what he had to do to snatch that.
- docsnavely, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i never knew that the artwork actually took you somewhere. very interesting!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3is it possible to be unknown AND have a huge following?
- jeremy66158, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Same issue dif source: http://www.teleportingtattler.com/2006/04/biggest-marketing-blunder-of-year.html
- remiprev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I still prefer the current one to the one they've used in beta: http://www.google.com/intl/en/logos/googlebeta.jpg
They even had an exclamation mark! - TheCheeta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually... not so much cake... from TFA, he is in charge of all Google webmasters. Sounds like a pretty huge responsibility trying to corral all those webbie folk.
- sahala, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Possible, but that would be evil :)
- jasncab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ad the "Customize the Google logo" add in to you Google hompage. Pretty neat to see it change every few seconds....
- OoSvGoO, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow that's crazy I've been using google since Easter 2000 i remember playing the little Easter egg catching game. wow so long ago
- Jody, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Am I the only one thinking the Google logo and the illustrations this guy does are extremely rough and juvenile looking? What Google has done with the recirculation and random search results is fun, but I woudn't say he's a great illustrator.
- bdmbdm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I love it how on holidays or memorable days, I can always expect a new Google logo that warms my heart. :)
- alanspach, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Cake job! I want it!
- Tyr7BE, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2On a somewhat related note, best comments I've ever heard on the Google logo can be found here:
http://achewood.com/index.php?date=05172006
It's all about the alt-text :) - bmc2010, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very good to hear, and Google always has such heartwarming logos as bdmbdm said that always have you looking on their page every time a holiday comes around.
- cwsampson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Am I the only one thinking ad opp? If curiosity clicks are driving server-crash volumes of traffic to these near-random topic logos, then isn't this a prime advertising opportunity? Sell the Google logo Hwang-ified to a topic of the advertisers choice and a link to their website. Goldmine.
- Downtownsim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think its really cool that his career with google started by drawing those cool logos. I always had it figured that the whole company got part of their work day to play around with logos for upcomming events. I would love working for a company that makes it fun to work there.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.design-sites.net
- 009l0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice work Dennis :)
- arter2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0any one knoe what art school he actually went too???
- soleman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah, the guy is not "unknown"....his fkn story is everywhere...I think he has his own google page too...art freak.
- nasalexportbeta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Yeah, the headline is an oxymoron. I guess someone is trying to find the cool kids.
- Rikushix, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Hasn't this story been on digg before?
- adizzy615, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Spartan website? Does Sparta still exist?
- bakagaigin, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3The only logos I don't like are the ones that looks sort of like MS Word clip art.
- davidmcbrown, on 10/12/2007, -11/+0try this one:
http://www.apponipod.com - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -52/+1to be honest with you...i appreciate a whore's work much better...when she's doing what she is paid to do on a trick that looks as simple as google, she puts a face on that horny bastard and suddenly a typically boring 17 seconds turns into a momentary feeling of...well, insert your favorite word for orgasm here...just like google

What is Digg?
