http://www.youtube.com/testtube - zachblume, on 10/12/2007, -19/+43Who signs their comment, much less with an initial?
J? There are 6 billion people in the world. 26 letters. Assuming like 3/5 use our alphabet, then (6 billion)*(1/26)*(3/5)=138,461,538
Thats how many people approximately have your first initial, "j", not assuming unequal letter frequency
WTF is the point of signing your initial? Really, come on people...
Plus its just a dick move. - elcaminos, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21How about concentrating on not making the video quality look like ***** on everything you upload.
- bewareofcabbage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16YouTube's Test Tube area has been around for a few months as far as I know. I don't see how they've suddenly and miraculously "opened" it as this article suggests, it's been around for a while people!
- HalFTW, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16* Let me chose where in the video i want to start buffering (like Google video)
* Make the comments show up immediately after they are posted, not 45 minutes later
* Same for account settings
* Same for video views, and ratings - affanjam, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Testtube been up for a while now. I think one of the first apps o it was like the quick record tool.
- Jotaro, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11hasn't test tube been up for about a month?
- disc0x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5it's been around for awhile. It's not really new.
- Nick22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5the testtube has been there for a while

- Live Streaming
- Interaction with a live stream like voting, etc.
- More cowbell - bewareofcabbage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3And for the love of god - get a decent, consistent design for YouTube pages!
- stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9So, this is labs.google.com. YouTube style?
- forensicmeteobo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2GIGO - Garbage in, Garbage out.
The problem is not really the encoding from source to flash; the problem is how the source video was shot. Eg. cell phone video will never be not choppy, just as people who use their digital still camera as a video camera... yea... it 'works,' but otherwise really doesn't suffice to good video. The best way to have a quality video is either encode with Xvid DivX, or, if you are unsure, WMV at 512 kbps works best outside of well-encoded mpeg. - binaryspiral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What I would like to know is how many word combinations can YouTube make up for their products?
Here's one for starters...
Food videos or ads: TubeSteak - StickWST, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, I have been using for almost that long. They have some cool ideas, some very, not, cool ideas.
- KiroLOL, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Bands include Evanescence, Finger Eleven, Aretha Franklin and the cranberries in all typical genres of Funk, Goth, HipHop, Jazz, Metal, Country, Rock, Reggae, and Rock.
Rock is so good, it's added twice! - DayTripper47, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I tried the streams, but the problem is that the people in there are just as stupid as they are in the comments section of youtube videos.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh no it isn't! It's a bold new way to sit back and profit from the work of others!
In a society where people slave over Photoshop to make fake mock-ups of Apple phones, for no compensation, in homage to a company that doesn't give a ***** about them, Google would be foolish not to mine the abundant stupidity for their own gain.
That's exactly what they're doing. Just watch the burgeoning population of morons flaunt their stomach-turning stupidity with this new venue. Really, that's what the Internet has become: a rotating collection of stupidity conduits. - fulldecent, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1YA RLY
- ideo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Thanks! Rubbish. I'd better go and drink some vodka
- lolo2007, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0this is actually pretty cool, but the audio swapper needs stuff like you being able to record your microphone while the video is playing to replace audio, and custom upload of tracks... testtube has been around for a while...but still cool. by the way, why are all the comments getting dugg down that don't need to be dugg down? http://www.gwafi.com/news.html http://www.gwafi.com/story.html
- spartyms2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Is anyone not able to get the streams to work? It's just a blank page for me.

Did somebody let the trolls out? - allholy1, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Welcome to TestTube, our ideas "incubator." This is where YouTube engineers and developers test out recipes and concoctions that aren't quite fully baked and invite you to tell us how they're coming along. Your comments will help us improve and perfect the mixtures we're working on. So jump in, play around, and send your feedback directly to the brains behind the scenes.
- Flametndo, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Sorry but the TestTube is old.
- Kramer381, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1the test tube thing is cool but the streeming one isn't all that great.
- crestfall, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2"AudioSwap hooks up music for users videos through special arrangements made with *not so popular* artists and major record labels, ensuring that songs can be added to YouTube videos legally. Bands include Evanescence, Finger Eleven, Aretha Franklin and the cranberries"

- Stunn, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1I get ticked off when people sign their posts too. There is no reason for it. I've just learned to bite my tongue and ignore it.
jakewilliams23 posts the same website in all of his digg posts. Its probably his little blog. Hes just a spammer who actually puts some effort into it. - bscene, on 10/12/2007, -14/+7@zachblume
thanks for schooling us all on proper digg etiquette and wowing us with your math skills.
doesn't take much to set you off does it?

news should be new - jakewilliams23, on 10/12/2007, -38/+3Wow, this is pretty cool.
I have to say, I think YouTube needs to go legit, but I love the entreprenurial spirit. These guys are really re-writing the rules.
For example, I caught a YouTube article on Media 3.0, which claimed that "primetime" for YouTube was Saturday Afternoon:

Who knew.
