- acklefutz, on 10/13/2009, -0/+9Hey how about you get rid of all those icons just list the sites with a short description of each.
- thezoner, on 10/13/2009, -2/+9Wal-Mart's Sustainability plan: bleed workers til they fall over and don't let them form a union.
- absurdist, on 10/13/2009, -0/+4Urg. I think it's one of the worst layouts I've ever seen. The icons mean nothing, and rolling over them doesn't give enough information to tell if I have any interest. Sorry, Good, but 100 is tl;dr without some kind of worthwhile summary.
- thezoner, on 10/13/2009, -1/+4maybe not. but it ensures a livable wage and workers rights.
- binaryalchemist, on 10/13/2009, -0/+3Data.gov may be my favourite - good action needs good decision-making, and good decision-making needs good data.
What would be really good is if the open source community started to form groups centering around a particular data challenge (eg, how can we identify the highest-priority health areas by geographic, socio-economic and education distributions) and make mash-ups available to NGOs to help them focus their efforts and lobbying where they could make the most difference. - capheine, on 10/13/2009, -0/+3Stupid article layout; didn't read. Which is unfortunate, because I would've liked to read it.
- yocouchdigga, on 10/13/2009, -2/+5It's like an advent calendar of goodness, very cool.
- Subcrtical, on 10/13/2009, -0/+3Well that's one way to artificially boost page views...
- CharlesAndrew, on 10/13/2009, -0/+2Wal-Mart's bad with unions. That's for sure. And big box stores are bad for local businesses. But it's hard to argue that in terms of actual impact on the energy and resource efficiency of the goods produced by huge companies like Proctor and Gamble, etc. they're doing a lot of good.
- capheine, on 10/13/2009, -1/+3Yeah, because unions solve more problems than they create, right?
- mattofasia, on 10/15/2009, -0/+1Unions arent the problem. Slave labor in other countries that lack effective unions is the problem. Unions, if they want to survive, need to set up internationally, become multinational and organize a lot better.if they want to exist and make the whole planet better.
The reason your business owner leaves is to go use some 3 year old kids in the other parts of the world where the unions never tried to care about the other people because they weren't the right skin color for the unions. - opitica, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1GOOD has strayed so far from projecting data effectively to just pulling graphics out of its ass in such a short amount of time.
- brianlehman, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1Has to be one of the ugliest sites ever! No info without rollover. Clip art hell. This site would clearly not make its own list. acklefutz is correct. As is thezoner - any list that lauds Sprawlmart for anything has to be suspect.
