First 2008 Honda Accord V6 spy photos! [PICS]
jalopnik.com — We'd caught the plain Jane version of the 2008 Honda Accord already, but now we've got shots of the V6 version! It's expected to be a 3.5-liter six-shot with about 270 HP -- not too shabby.

- G_Raph, on 10/11/2007, -4/+29man oh man. This is one of the few cars of 2008 that actually looks marginally better than the '07 version (yeah I talking to you WRX designers for breaking my heart).
- bencefeher, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I am not alone then. Bring back the "bug-eye"!
- wrestlingnrj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I would have to agree that the new WRX looks like complete ***** and I hope Subaru doesn't sell a single one so that they will be forced to bring back the "older" look.
- linkin1, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1I love the front
I HATE the back, it's mutant.- RegalGSX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Look closely at the head on photo. It's a Lexus IS in the front, and a BMW 5-series in the back.
It's doubly luxurious.

- sacherjj, on 10/11/2007, -10/+2Exactly what we need on the road. Take an efficient car and throw a bunch of horsepower in it to get worse gas mileage.
- GoatMonkey2112, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5The current Accord is not all that efficient in terms of MPG. Except for maybe the hybrid version, which is not what they're talking about. The replacement for the hybrid is actually a diesel, which should get pretty good MPG. Also, this next Accord is going to have cylinder management to shut off 3 cylinders when cruising, so the mileage should be at least as good or better than the current Accord, even with more power.
- djSyndrome, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5"The current Accord is not all that efficient in terms of MPG."
Maybe not the V6, but the four-cylinder does pretty good for a car of its size. - brufleth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+42004 Accord four banger gets no less than high twenties if I drive like a complete ***** around the city and easily gets mid thirties on longer trips. I agree, not amazing but remember that Honda always strives for best in class fuel efficiency.

- Rudigity, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3Looks like the Acura TSX. guess those parts got cheap, and now they are the new accord.
- newsheatdotcom, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I'd say it looks more like the RL body style than the TSX.
- TheKricket, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4welcome to the way honda/acura have been doing business the last umpteen years - acura has the "high end" models, and then passes them down to honda when the model redevelopment year comes along
its the way its always been with that company- djSyndrome, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Because Acuras are sold as Hondas in the rest of the world; Acura exists as a 'brand' in North America because Honda wanted to sell higher-end cars, but didn't think it could get people into dealerships to spend the kind of cash necessary to bring one home.
- jtsai256, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Well, I wouldn't call the TSX a "high end" model hand-me-down, quite simply because in Europe it IS the Honda Accord and they already share certain parts!

- enola, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Me, too. I prefer those styles to the newer stuff, actually.
- stockjones, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You arent the only one. I have a 2002 coupe and prefer the style over this
- TheForastero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0You're not alone pal. I believe that model is what brought many of us to like Honda. I have a '98 model; I love it. I'm not thinking to replace it until it really really really dies.

- theNazz, on 10/11/2007, -15/+3Buried as lame. A Honda Accord is suddenly a premium car or something?
- seraph82, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Yep!
- TheKricket, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7funny - i missed where they mentioned that in the article...
i thought this was posted because, you know, the accord is one of the most popular models...ever... - SVPirate, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I think an Accord V6 counts as 'Premium' (at least in the UK), especially turning out 270bhp (which will all be right in the sweet spot on the powerband knowing Honda). Just because it doesn't have 8 pots and drink like a horse at a trough doesn't stop it being premium.
- Rabite, on 10/11/2007, -5/+35It looks like every car that has ever been made.
- mapkinase, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1Definitely looks like my 2007 Honda Accord V6 LX.
- kurtwinter, on 10/11/2007, -12/+1***** these gas guzzling pieces of *****. Show me performance with a hybrid system that can get 60mpg and I'll be impressed. As long as demand stays high, everyone pays more for gas, and driving around in 3.5 liter cars that are normally powered, quite comfortably, by a 2.0 liter engine is conspicuous consumption.
- mongrel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I'm pretty sure I read on Autoblog that they'd be offering this as a high-gas mileage diesel - anyone else?
- sacherjj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You won't get a "performance" hybrid at 60mpg. This is because "performance" is usually defined as accelerating fast, braking hard and turning sharp. Efficiency is about accelerating slow, braking only after you have coasted down to a slower speed, and driving smart. The two don't meet. I want a hybrid that has a very small diesel engine that might run after I've stopped and left the car, to peak off the batteries again. It won't have the power to go continuously, but can run its generator after I get to work to get ready for the drive home.
- dshPls, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Hybrids get 50mph when you keep the RPMs under 2750(around 60mph), and never use AC. You really need to skimp on all pleasures of driving to save. I just got a Civic that should be getting 38mph and I still get to enjoy fast pickups and leisurely driving.
- lateralus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1yeah but does it have an iPod interface?

- lateralus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1yeah but does it have an iPod interface?
- SVPirate, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I think you need to pull your head out from up your ass. Yes, it's a 3.5 litre V6, but you missed a vital point. It's a HONDA V6. They make some of the most efficient gasoline engines in the world. PLUS they are still great fun to drive.
- Ricky8765, on 10/11/2007, -10/+9ugly... it looks like a ***** camry

Too bad it will still drive like a Honda and torque steer like a mofo. - bardamu, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9Looks like a Saturn Aura. As for the WRX comment I think the STI wagon looks decent but the WRX has been neutered.
- cgreentx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Definitely a Saturn clone.
- djSyndrome, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Every STI rendering you've seen so far has been pshopped. Subuaru has yet to release any pics or specs - they're coming at the Tokyo Motor Show.
- xpar420x, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0I thought the rear of the car was like the Saturn.....the front....is ugly. Looks like the grill from the Ridgeline.
- retrospect, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9I absolutely hate the grille. Nothing spectacular to me.
- seraph82, on 10/11/2007, -4/+54STOP CALLING THEM ***** "SPY PHOTOS"
nobody had to break into that parking lot under surveillance. There's no war going on. That's a ***** car sitting in a ***** parking lot.- madcaesar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5amen.

- TommyBoy919, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1Meh, not bad looking for a family car I suppose. Good to see 270hp in their V6. Still, not nearly as sexy as the Altima Coupe.
- adiscgolfer, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1this is nasty
- winmywii, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Looks too much like a lexus (is 250 maybe?), but I like it. At least it's better than the god awful civic. I hate the look of the new civic.
- avisgoth, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6Introducing: Car. Produced by: Manufacturer.

- maddskillz, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2My eyes...the goggles do nothing!
- wmarkusen, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4Hmm, looks just like a 5-series BMW.
- wjackson, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1This is like the sixth set of *breaking spy photos* I've seen for the '08 Accord. Is there something I need to know about this car?
By the way...I drive an Accord. - Ugoff, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1They should bring back the coupe for the Accord.
- djSyndrome, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Um, did you check the second set of pics in the link? You did not!
- funnylookinhat, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3So are we all gonna get excited and wet our pants when we post photos of the new corolla now too? Seriously, who cares about generic cars like these...
- TheForastero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Then why did you read this article? ... geez...
- userbraindamage, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Looks okay, except for the giant door handles.
- djSyndrome, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That are chrome. WTF, is this an 80s GM car now?
- ipxodi, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2It's an Accord, big deal. They're Baby Boomer cars with far more horsepower than will ever be used by 90% of it's drivers.
And younger people who buy Accords thinking they're performance cars are sadly deluded. Horsepower != performance- TheForastero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Obviously, you don't know what you're talking about...
- carlwinslow, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Decent power but still mind-numbingly boring and wrong-wheel-drive.
- CPOliver, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Someone thinks they're Clarkson...
- Error601, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6I'm still trying to figure out if these posts are a joke. You can't get much more "generic sedan" style than that.
- macas, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1This is somethin' !
BTW why Spy Photos ?? - mtxprime, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3UGLY
- sirgolf82, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Seems unoriginal to me. Rear 3/4 is BMW-esque, and the rear? Saturn. Yikes!
- Sube6491, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2You all might say it's boring, but the previous gen Accords were amazingly fun to drive. I have a '91 and it is the most fun, tossable car I've ever driven. It's like a little puppy dog that wants to play all day. Now, I can't say the same for my dad's '99 V6... everything's stiff and tight, too hard to be playful.
- toxonix, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0Whoa! it looks like a ... car.
BORING. They should bring the Trabant back. That was a pretty car. - BaylorDawg, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Looks like a freaking Camry
- chmcarro, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2It looks like an Acura TL.
- HRF1, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Lovin the red coupé
- Pie_Man, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Most of you sods who are hatin' have never even driven any Accord. Yes the looks are plain vanilla, but they are all a BLAST to drive, have wonderful interiors, and are the most reliable vehicles on the road. You might say that they are not performance cars, but they do like 0-60 in 6-7 seconds flat -and- get 28+mpg. Heck, the V-6 5 speed ones are in the fives...would be faster if it weren't for traction.
Adjusted for inflation there isn't a sub $30,000 sports car made in the 70s or 80s (or 60s for that matter) that could touch these things. Damn I hate car snobs...everything they know is from a spec page of a magazine.- brufleth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Most of them drive automatic pick up trucks and their hand me down corollas. A manual Accord is actually a fun car to drive that doesn't empty your wallet on long road trips.
- SVPirate, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I drive a plain as you like 1.8 VTEC 2000 model (UK spec) Accord. It's a blast to drive, does 40mpg on long trips, even when I drive like a nutter (the more you thrash them the more efficient they get - it's crazy!!). The tiny sewing machine of an engine (at least by US Standards) turns out 138bhp, which is approaching the VW 1.8 Turbo of the same age, but without the fuel bill. I just love it when the needle goes past 3750rpm and and it takes off like someone set it's arse on fire - it's a really good feeling :). I also like the fact that, with 50,000 miles on the clock and a new cam belt set on it I'll have many years of trouble free motoring. All this set me back 4000 GBP.
Reliable, quick and cheap. How can you refuse!?
- HouseofEl, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1While the pictures are great, this was just on the front page no more than four days ago. It's one thing to dupe a story that not everyone has seen, but this isn't cool enough to count.

- lateralus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2It doesn't matter what anyone thinks...your streets will be flooded with these for the next decade.
- bigredsplace, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2gas mileage for 270 HP is what?
I'll keep my 06 V6 6speed.
I'm curious if they're getting rid of the 4 door 6 speed? Manual is the only way to go, but I can't see 270HP to a FWD give you that much excitement.- ausfahrt, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2More HP doesn't always mean worse gas mileage. It's a newer engine and many new technologies or design improvements may have been used to make it more efficient, thus delivering the extra horses and possibly even better mileage. I know my mileage improved after doing many naturally aspirated modifications to my A4.
- SVPirate, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I agree with ausfahrt, newer Honda engines generally improve in power and efficiency, resulting in increased power and the same or in some cases slightly better gas mileage.
- TheForastero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I hope the 4D 6 speeds won't disappear, I love it.
