- astrosmash, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Welcome to Digg.
- jordan314, on 10/12/2007, -9/+24Yeah check the whois info. Just because it says it's not affiliated with microsoft doesn't mean it IS affiliated with mozilla. The name servers point to bltc.net, not mozilla. Reported as innacurate.
- KC311Man, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17I'm calling this spam! Link to the subject of the topic, not your own blog!
- Imagine3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11They will loose the domain name if Microsoft wants it. Since Mozilla has not use with IE7, it is considered Domain Parking. Therefore, Microsoft will file a complaint and the domain will either be transfered with the help of Mozillia or through legal action.
I still like it though. - danielxmorris, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Registrant:

Nothing to do with Mozilla. It's http://www.ddf.net/ - leok3nt, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12If we Google Bomb this site, it might even be possible to knock the real IE7 homepage from the top spot in Google? That really would be a laugh!
- djork, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Blog spam. No digg.
- Hardcase, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11The WHOIS info shows that it's owned by Digital Data Flow in the UK. And it's been around for over 7 years. No news here. No digg here. Reported as inaccurate.
- TheDarkTipper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Even if it's not one of Mozilla's domains, it's still awesome.
- fatdog789, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7While you can dig Imagine down all you want, it won't change the fact that this would be considered domain parking...if Microsoft cared.
The product is called Internet Explorer, not IE. IE is what we geeks/nerds/spazzes use to refer to the product. Normal people call it the Internet (no Explorer), and can't tell the difference between it and Firefox. MS knows this.
In the long run...this won't change anything. Because anyone smart enough to know what ie7 is will already be using FF or Opera. - jhatcher16, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12Erm, "Firefox" (Mozilla) didn't buy this. It was bought by a Firefox fan as a joke.
- shazbot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6http://www.ie6.com/
Microsoft doesn't own that, either. - dshPls, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11+ 1
I hate blogs. - sTiVo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7When you go visit Digital Dataflow to ask them about this domain, make sure you go to "Basement Rear", which is always the sign of legitimate business...
- Smp351, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Exactly, the fact that so many of you are just ripping this apart and going out of your way to prove how "inaccurate" it is need to get out of your parent's basement and get laid already. It's a freaking joke, just let it be.
Bury away. - SteveMax, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Inaccurate. Firefox is not an entity that could buy a domain; its parent foundation (Mozilla foundation) has nothing to do with this.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Why was this buried? its true! Mozilla does not own the domain! God you new diggers are noobs.
- NoodleGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm not sure that Microsoft really cares. ie6.com is a cybersquatter, as is ie5.com, and ie8.com etc...
Not really surprising, since MS doesn't officially call it IE. - 5thfreedom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Last I checked... ie6.com wasn't owned by MS either. Who cares?
- Mac2492, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3News Flash: It's possible to edit web pages. =O
- tarmithius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Kind of hard to say it was a firefox fan that bought it in 1999, seeing as the firefox name did not exist in that format until Feb 2004.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Firefox#Naming - canadiense, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@fatdog789 ... a quick search on the Microsoft web site has over 3100 hits on "ie7" ... somebody at Microsoft uses that abbreviation that you say only "geeks/nerds/spazzes" use.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Its because they didn't send the plumbers out in time to prepare for the new programs to go across the pipes.
- ohnnyj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ie13.com is available
at Microsoft's rate this should be released circa 2021 - dawks-, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9burried because it links to some ***** blog. ***** off and die.
- jakefloyd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3What doesn't make this great is that Microsoft doesn't use any "ie#.com" domains. There is no "www.ie6.com" or "www.ie5.com." Now, if Microsoft did own a "www.ie6.com" and this person beat them out to "ie7.com," then it would be awesome.
- CharlesDarwin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6You win the dee dee dee award!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This is the reason google keeps hundreds of domain names, just to never use them ;).
- tHePeOPle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yes, now, take your complimentary Digg tote bag and coffee mug go read some f'ing retarded blogs.
- sporktek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Am I the only one that is incredibly annoyed when people substitute a product name for a company name?
Firefox bought a domain.
Windows is gettng sued.
My computer runs Windows Office XP.
Mac should make a wireless mouse.
GOD that gets on my nerves. - Hardcase, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Kinda tough for them to lock it down months ago when it was registered 7 years ago.
- ThirstyFerret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Maybe a /little/ violent there...
If you're gonna link a blog, at least link one that stays online so we can read it! - joerad010, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Firefox most certainly has not "taken over" IE7. A fan of Firefox took over the IE7 domain. Marked as inaccurate. May be humorous, but no need for sensationalist headlines.
- tarmithius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I realized that after I made my post. What I took the original post to be was a FF fan registered the domain. After re-reading it, I realized it was too late to edit my post. But I still stand by my original comment albeit in a different light.
- rushfan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol @ Ted Stevens joke for those who didn't get it...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You're not alone, little things like that bother me too.
I think this was on Digg several months ago, too. I think some of you are getting too technical over this - it is very mildly amusing, that's all, but it doesn't insult anybody's inteligence. - ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Read the comments. The site isn't owned by Mozilla.
- szembek, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4why? does mozilla own firefox2.com ? probably not.
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1borninda818 - You're thinking of Yager Bombs.
- nurriz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's lame but I don't think it's an oversigt from Microsoft's side. I don't think they are interested in marketing the beloved petname of Internet Explorer, IE, thus it makes good sense not to care about the domain.
Besides that the domain has been around for a while. If they want it they probably tried contacting the registrant, but seeing what they put up on the website, I'm not guessing whoever owns the domain is all that bright.
The company I work for has a .net address, but we didn't even register the equivalent national domain, cause it doesn't matter in our marketing. I believe it's quite common practice. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4This post is inaccurate for so many reasons it needs to be flagged for inaccurate more than once (to sum up what's been said already):
1) Firefox is a program, not an entity, therefore it can't "take over" anything (unless it were written to, like a virus or something)
2) It doesn't "take over IE7", it takes over www.ie7.com
3) Mozilla didn't buy the domain, a webhosting company did (on behalf of one of their customers), and registered it with tucows.
etc... - ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cybersquatting
- jayripley123, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2LOL - Did anyone else open the second comment's link in a new tab?
