- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't think I like it, but I liked seeing the process they went through to come up with the logo.
- stanleyfresh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmmm... I like it. Pretty cool. Very friendly and open-looking, like they said.
- pftqg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not sure I dig the look, but it's nice to see openness coming from other areas of open source.
- epkphoto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To be honest...I like it!
- caldroun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice change...looks like a guitar pick. I can digg that.
- Leonaken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I really like it! Nice job figuring all the symbolism and incorporating it into the new design!
- rayde, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'm not so certain how i feel... it could be worse.. they could have changed their name to mandriva or something. so it's not all bad.
- smiley2billion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like the A to Z design flow that this shows. The logo comes out looking pretty decent, although I think it could be refined a bit more to add a little gloss to it.
- mrman5917, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like the idea overall, but the "f" in the logo needs to be more defined. Right now it looks like the "8" (read: infinity) is overpowering the logo just a bit.
- bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool!!!, congrats.
- yaphi, on 02/20/2008, -0/+0The symbol is just too big compared to the word fedora...I would suggest scaling it down a bit. Other than that, I like it...good ideas.
- jnevans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0At first, all I could see was "8" in the logo. It was only after I read the steps they took to produce the logo did I notice the combination of "f" and the infinity sign. Conceptually, it's an outstanding design but not a very good marketable design.
- bobetr, on 11/27/2008, -0/+0http://www.capstrat.com/development/fedora/fedoraLogo_11.jpg
- TheStooge1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thumbs DOWN on the logo... thumbs UP on the article... nice digg...
- vertigoblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they need to keep some red and something of a fedora hat...
- pibby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks suspiciously like Quark's new logo... http://www.quark.com/
- pezz453, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks alot like macromedia.
not only that. the f in the infinity symbol is a bit hard to see. - dandiemer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0also much like the scottish arts council logo
http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/index.cfm?NewsID=12611&Page=1&pagePos=2 - ccrook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not a big fan of it but I liked seeing the process
- dontbecreepy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks like the new quark logo.
http://www.quark.com/ - Anthony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's called an opinion, this site would be nothing without it.
- TokenUser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not a fan of the logo, but loved reading their thought processes used to create it.
FWIW - The logo will grow on us, and it is something we will all get used to ... but the f does need more definition. - SHuisman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0btw: Fedora Core 4 ownes :-)
- Patrick_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Erm, that logo is sort of a spin-off of the Gentoo logo. the "oo" in Gentoo is supposed to be an infinity sign.
I like the old logo for Fedora better, honestly. - recover82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the process of creating it was cool..but by the end it was like a *****. me no likey. good thing it's a quality os and logos don't mean *****.
- linuxinit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Crappy logo... Nice digg... Why is it that everybody is making logos now with the squared circle. It's really unoriginal and gets old...
- hadiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that's cool as hell
- Ronnie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Uh... who ***** cares?
- HellSpawn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's nice...don't like Fedora though :P
- Nugolot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This actually looks pretty cool, I like the slogan on the T Shirt too, too bad fedoras not my flavor of Linux :p
- kamicane, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I think the design process wasn't that good. After all they came out with "yet another quark-type logo". Infinity and freedom? It's not original, guys.
- kACE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I must say I liked the old one better. This looks to much like a logo for some sort of macromedia program...
- ziggystardust, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no like- but will digg
- FriedGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Don't really care for it. While I like the brainstorm behind it I don't like how the final mark came out. For being about open and freedom... it looks more like an enclosed track. More 'enclosed' than open. And for the love of Dog, why blue? I hope they go with another color, blue is so very corporate and banking and umm... Microsoft. Red would make more sense based on the brand equity in RedHat, and it's very much not Microsoft.
- thegreenarrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I rather like the wordmark alone without that wierd looking logo. The logo is too simplistic, but at the same time kind of confusing with the f and infinity shape being kinda mushed together, but not in an immediately discernible way. Kind of awkward.
I'd definitely prefer the wordmark alone.
http://www.capstrat.com/development/fedora/fedoraLogo_12.jpg - CaptSnuffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like how they actually incorporated the goals of freedom and voice of the users into the logo, it wasn't just another symbol picked because it looks good.
- markit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think its great, but an attempt to remove some of the stereotypes of linux
- gum3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like the idea. Hate the logo!
The hat is cool. Always has been, always will be! - inkninja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Aye, too close to Macromedia product logos...
- dtrinh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Incidentally, Matt Munoz is the brother of one of my best friends. I met him a few times (read: not well, but I've seen him).
CapStrat - the design company that hosts the article - is actually from my area.
When I saw Capstrat and Matt Munoz a huge lightbulb went off in my head. - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0oH SHIAT! A NEW LOGO!!!!
WTF how is this news? - baloniaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice!
- elShaggy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i like how the page shows the evolution and creation of the logo. cool idea.
- Greg-J, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As a graphic designer of 11 years, I both dislike, and don't understand it. I'm not one of those artsy types that doesn't like work that's not mine, on the contrary I quite like and admire other digital art. But this logo is pointless and self-defeating. The hat was clever, and is very recognizable. This is simply over-thought. You shouldn't need a thesis to explain why your logo has nothing to do with the company. FC4 isn't anything to write home about in the first place. CentOS is (in my opinion, and MANY professional hosting companies) a far better version as well. The last thing they need is to disassociate themselves from the one thing they have going for them.
Just my $0.02 - rabiddogma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So Fedora is now... Flash? How did that happen? Did Macromedia buy it before they got gobled by Adobe????
- rabiddogma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0BTW, Hate the logo, but I like their excuse for it (even if it was a bit long winded).
- nwagers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I hate the new logo. I can't even imagine myself wearing that on a t-shirt. Don't get me wrong, I like FC4, but this logo is uninspiring
- Shiggen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Damn those beats are so fresh! Snap!
- rhyno2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awful, overthought, "forward-looking" logo.
- EPeters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Draft of New Fedora Logo". Draft is the key word here.
