If person A bounces the ball off the (their) right side of the table so the trajectory of the ball takes it past the frame of the door, and then person B wants to hit it back such that it hits the (person A's) left side of the table then it's not possible.

    In other words the ball could be in play in a position where there isn't a direct line of sight between the ball and any location on the opponent's side of the table, which there should be in a normal ping pong game.
