- Vagabond91, on 07/10/2009, -6/+59Only $48,000-$68,000 dollars... I'd rather strap myself to the ass of a dolphin.
- sb66, on 07/11/2009, -0/+475-6 foot maximum depth is not a "personal submarine".
Still pretty cool though. - RocketGib, on 07/11/2009, -1/+45DO A BARREL ROLL!
- MotoFly, on 07/11/2009, -3/+34WANT
- Megadeth222, on 07/11/2009, -3/+31 "How deep can they dive?
About 5 feet for brief durations but generally they go just a few feet below the surface in order to keep the snorkel above the water."
aww, i thought I'd be able to go deep sea exploring with this thing. Still, its freaking awesome - J3ff3ryD, on 07/10/2009, -3/+27Awesome!
- tehdiggster, on 07/11/2009, -1/+22They probably implode under a couple feet of water pressure.
- ChromaVita, on 07/11/2009, -1/+21The videos only show them dunking just under the surface. Can they actually dive?
- 3piece, on 07/10/2009, -3/+22I want- now- thats seriously rad *****
- Abominable, on 07/11/2009, -0/+19"I'm sorry but if I'm paying $48,000+ I want something that can go a little bit deeper. "
That's what she said. - ChileanGoD, on 07/11/2009, -5/+24Well, since we're into the old cool water things, check out the water jet pack:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0109liIZGQ - immatellyouwhat, on 07/11/2009, -0/+19Won't be so cost effective when they drag your ass down 5,000 feet for their dolphin meetings to take over the world.
- spiderman0505, on 07/10/2009, -4/+14Remember the one from Seaquest DSV? That was awesome.
- anonymousmedic, on 07/11/2009, -0/+10Came here for the Seaquest DSV references. Left pleased.
- Konnnan, on 07/11/2009, -4/+13Ever since I was a little tyke, I've wanted to be a dolphin.
- Chompy, on 07/11/2009, -0/+9Seabreacher: "Wait, is there something behind us?"
USS Greeneville: "Surprise *****!" - lived666, on 07/11/2009, -0/+8old but still awesome
- Denominator88, on 07/11/2009, -0/+7From the company's website:
" How deep can they dive?
About 5 feet for brief durations but generally they go just a few feet below the surface in order to keep the snorkel above the water."
I'm sorry but if I'm paying $48,000+ I want something that can go a little bit deeper. Still really awesome though. - GrammerPants, on 07/11/2009, -1/+8Way before even that, there have been working prototypes for almost a decade now.
- chasew70, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6That's exactly what I was thinking.
- immatellyouwhat, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6Watch out for the surprise buttsecks!
- yacks, on 07/12/2009, -0/+5that meme isn't as fun when the said item can do a Barrel Roll.
- mrferg, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5Pretty damn cool! For some reason it makes me think of Seaquest though.
- charlesdavisIII, on 07/11/2009, -0/+4Way before even that, I saw a guy riding in one 20 years ago.
- Kaegro, on 07/11/2009, -3/+7ya, looks real practical. Going 20 mph while being just barely under the surface of the water so you cant ***** see sounds totaly like a good idea to me. Dont get me wrong, it looks cool and it seems to be a good idea, but wearing realy dark sunglasses at night while driving with no lights on in a snow storm while drunk also seems like a good idea at the time.
- Kaegro, on 07/11/2009, -1/+5Like Kyle's dad?
http://www.dvdverdict.com/images/reviewpics/southp ... - gluecode, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3This looks like the one Professor Calculus created in Herge's Tintin comic series 'Red Rackham's Treasure' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Rackham's_Treasur ...
- strykefive, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3Wow. I want one!
- TheCash, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3"It's called the Gazelle."
"No, it's called The Stinger!" - Depthfunction, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3That's a lawsuit waiting to happen. You can't see where you're going in that thing. Imagine trying to steer it in a lake crowded with a bunch of drunken spring breakers cruising around in speedboats. Somebody's gonna get killed.
- HitThis949, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3http://www.bionicdolphin.com
- Gareth321, on 07/12/2009, -0/+3That's kinda pathetic.
- wrathchilde, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3If you can up it to around $1M you can get a single person "Deep Rover":
http://www.deepoceanexpeditions.com/Deep_Rover.pdf - yacks, on 07/12/2009, -0/+3snorky... talk... man...
- Vorg, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3for a company that sells 50,000 dollar personal submarines, they sure have a really poorly designed video. :\
- coffeebaby, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2how come they never show the thing landing after a breach?
- jasdf, on 07/11/2009, -0/+2Pimp my Dolphin.
- winterspan, on 07/19/2009, -0/+2Interestingly enough, these awesome "dolphin" subs were offered in that old magazine "Hammacher Schlemmer" about 12-13 years ago. I always wondered what happened to them and then later on I found out that after the 9/11 attacks, they voluntarily halted all private sales for fear of underwater terror attacks. It's been at least 5-6 years since I heard anything about them.
- Garciat, on 07/12/2009, -0/+2With an oxygen tank, hermetic sealing, and some other stuff, I think you could.
- Myztry, on 07/12/2009, -0/+2How would they classify these for licensing purposes? Boats, submarine, submersible, sea plane...
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -0/+2reported.
- thumperings, on 07/12/2009, -1/+3yea that sounds like you.
tyke
2. tyke - a crude uncouth ill-bred person lacking culture or refinement - dienaked, on 07/11/2009, -0/+2Thing that stays underwater for a couple seconds while moving != submarine
- MrSmith34, on 07/12/2009, -0/+2Looks great, but how safe is it? With that low profile and blueish color, other boaters would probably very likely run over it by accident.
- lolwtfhaha, on 07/12/2009, -0/+2Or more likely they are just too damn buoyant and have no way to adjust that
- cyclone219, on 07/12/2009, -0/+2WANT
- randyka87, on 07/12/2009, -0/+2dolphins are for girls...i would buy it if it looks like a dinosaur like a plesiosaur.
- lucfreder, on 07/12/2009, -0/+2Gerald Broflovski was their first customer.
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -1/+3How the hell do you see where you are going?
I mean, wouldn't that nose of the thing just bring a continuous stream of water on the windshield?
You can't see a thing outside in the video on their site http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVXSdbd13bk#t=5m25s - M00nshield, on 07/12/2009, -0/+2Beat your friends!
