Digg-inspired daily webzine takes off! Users suggest stories
whitesoap.com — I worked on this for a few months in my spare time, just putting together some ideas I had from several online projects I'd worked on in the past. We syndicate feeds that we like for the pages, and from there its up to both the readers and the editors to choose what makes the pages!
- 80 diggs
- digg it
- smash, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7This is a work in progress, so honest feedback is appreciated
- GoodGod, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6IT SUCKS ASS!
- EBFoxbat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Too busy. Complex pages confuse me.
- wild, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Why is ebfox being udgg down, he is right.
And the photo icon stuff, there is a reason Digg has very small little icons. Its annoying and distracting.
Sorry man, try again? - bluephoenix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I would change your color scheme for starters, any site with that much text typically uses clean colors (whites and blues, etc) Once you get the color under control maybe eliminate some of the content on the front page, such as the editors profiles and move them to a seperate link, the main page is a little too cluttered and it's hard to tell what I'm supposed to be looking at. Since you've been inspired by digg maybe you should try a minimalist design scheme similar to how they do it.
- senfo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Colors are awful and make it hard to read. As others have already said, the page is entirely too busy. The only aspects of the site that I like are already found on Digg, so why not just stick with Digg?
I couldn't even begin to tell you what the stories are about because I went ADD and closed it after feeling frustrated within 5 seconds. - Cputerace, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Should be more simple... Like http://www.youpickthenews.com
- PikeGranholm, on 10/12/2007, -22/+4Posted in wrong category, please post here: http://www.diggdex.com/
- oskite, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5"Digg-inspired" in title = guaranteed front page
- jaundiced, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6sorry i just really really don't get the point. why do we need a digg-inspired site when we have digg?
- mikev, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2This is a really cool idea, and seems to be well thought out and executed. I already subscribe to Paul and Derek's blogs, so if it is written similarly then I'll subscribe.
- xistboi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh sure, and you don't subscribe to mine :)
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6is this intended to be another digg (online magazine) just like this one?
And do we need another one?
I can't imagine that any of us here are not already spending enough time opnline, and need more online activities....but that's just me...
I'm still hoping to have a LIFE in the real world. - fatadamblog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder what the next big thing will be beyond Digg and Digg clone websites Ugg when will they realise none of them have it right, there is only one good system and your on it. Yes you!
- godamit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2please please version with white backgound
tired seeing myself in laptops's glossy screen - manchurian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1to me, it seems like the page is a little bit too messy. A lot of different colors, which makes the page kinda nervous. It looks too crowded but maybe, that's just me :)
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7So far basically every story I've seen on there has been on Digg.
I don't see why this site needs to exist, quite frankly. Is it just there to group stories into a by day grouping ? - gemadouble, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Messy!
- truebosko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The black background and all the colors made it hard to focus and I just flailed around the page mindlessly until eventually closing it. Fix please
- scottnagle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Page is way too busy and hard to figure out what is going on.
- Micfri, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow I can rip off digg in my spare time and make it look like crap(literaly a ***** diarhea brown color background).
- donolsen1155, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Meh...
Nice enough page, but not sure what the value add is?
