- petster, on 04/06/2009, -3/+17Smashing quality as usual.
- gamerscalling, on 04/06/2009, -1/+8Amazing, some is common sense, but all very good things for designers to know. Nice write up!
- PabloIV, on 04/06/2009, -1/+5Great article. On the last point I'd like to add that most people browse sites in an F pattern.
If they don't see what should capture their attention in that quick sweep they usually just move along. - o76923, on 04/06/2009, -1/+4Finally an article about web programming/design that doesn't just repeat what we learned in programming 102.
- iguanapunk, on 04/06/2009, -0/+3If a website doesn't use hover buttons and scrolling marquees, I'm not interested.
- airstrike, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2An insightful article on digg!
On it's way to the first page!
It even has a couple of smart people commenting on it!
Is this a late April Fools' joke or what? - dreamache, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2One of the best articles I've seen from smashingmagazine, finally an article that webmasters themselves can be interested in. Though this should also obviously weigh heavily on the minds of designers.
I'm very surprised though that Split Testing isn't one of the suggestions, it's basically the most important step to creating a site that converts highly as possible. :) - alvaris, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2Thank you for sharing this. It's a nice article ^_^ The first tip really caught my attention, because my professor said something similar to that in my social psychology class.
- MtheoryX, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2No blink tag is a deal breaker for me.
- yongfook, on 04/06/2009, -2/+3Bits of point (5) sound almost C&P'd from my recent article on AIDA here:

FML. - rorycarlyle, on 04/06/2009, -0/+1This is good stuff, well done.
- kirstiea, on 09/21/2009, -0/+0This is an excellent article about how to effectively sell on-line. I really related to being given too many options. Also, you made very good points about showing the product. So often I don't know what people are selling when I go to their site. Great article...thanks!
- rattanhose, on 04/08/2009, -0/+0I liked it, Thanks
- gmeierotto, on 04/12/2009, -0/+0Here is a tip that can be used to get your website to convert better:
Adopt the "Godaddy 16-step checkout process" - http://digg.com/d1Fl4c
LMFAO. - MtheoryX, on 04/06/2009, -1/+1Judging by the diggs they get, I would say that you ARE the only one.
- peteriliev, on 04/06/2009, -0/+0Wonderful :)
- m00n1, on 04/06/2009, -3/+2Hmmmm, as someone who specialises in conversions, I don't really agree with this. A few points are good but some (1, 3, 4 & 5) are generalisations and I've worked on cases where the exact opposite worked. Every site is different. Conversions are hard work, but once you've done it, the sales just flood in.
- skeptictank, on 04/06/2009, -3/+1Choice paralysis... buying windows vista.
- bleaknik, on 04/06/2009, -9/+2Am I the only one who thinks that smashingmagazine's articles are lackluster at best? Why do these keep getting dugg?
