lifehacker.com — I don't know about you, but I'm tired of pixelated images, especially when I have to stretch them even more. Imagine the possibilities!

- ThatEvilGuy, on 11/12/2007, -0/+25Apologies accepted, but don't do that again.
- sysconnected, on 11/12/2007, -2/+8I have tried many apps like this one before and this is a good tool.
- sanman, on 11/11/2007, -0/+7Now all we need is for it to be embedded onto a chip, so that it can be used for realtime video processing, and then we can scale any video to as high a resolution as we need.
- sERIALeATER, on 11/11/2007, -1/+1Some porn addict would love that

- dodonnellwcr, on 11/11/2007, -3/+4A valuable tool, I have used it before, good asset to have bookmarked.
- pelline, on 11/11/2007, -0/+13Doesn't Flash have a feature a bit like this called trace bitmap?
- stalefries, on 11/11/2007, -1/+11Yeah, so does Illustrator and Inkscape.
- Godlesswanderer, on 11/11/2007, -1/+10Yes but Flash isn't free.
- Audacitor, on 11/13/2007, -3/+10*cough* BitTorrent *cough*
- solid12345, on 11/11/2007, -0/+3Still want to know why everyone is harping on the cost of programs, what use do you have for vector images if you aren't using vector based programs to begin with?
- Zippo, on 11/11/2007, -1/+5Well, Firefox and some other modern browsers support SVGs. And Inkscape is free.
- hackerssidekick, on 11/11/2007, -0/+5And has a trace feature, I believe.

- the_snitch, on 11/12/2007, -1/+11Yeah but this is better, see.
http://vectormagic.stanford.edu/vectorize/comparis ...- Killbot2015, on 11/11/2007, -0/+5Flash isn't mentioned in that comparison.
- the_snitch, on 11/12/2007, -0/+1whoops I mean't to reply to the guy who mentioned Illustrator below, but chose the wrong one when I returned with the link
- Killbot2015, on 11/11/2007, -0/+5Flash isn't mentioned in that comparison.
- michaelaranda, on 11/14/2007, -0/+35"It appears as though we have been listed on a popular email list of some sort, because our servers are under extremely high levels of load today. Please be patient if your job waits in the queue for a bit. Thanks."
Heh... Popular email list indeed.- ChromaVita, on 11/12/2007, -0/+26Forwarde.... I mean.... Dugg.
- ZigVicious, on 11/14/2007, -1/+53this must be what CSI use!
- Phantom784, on 11/12/2007, -0/+35Enhance!!!
- endlessoul, on 11/13/2007, -2/+6Dammit, that's what I came here to say.
The first thing I thought of when seeing the title is "So that's how CSI does it!" - MeatyDoughnut, on 11/12/2007, -5/+0How CSI does what? If you're talking about enhancing pictures and video footage then GET OUT.
- monospaced, on 11/11/2007, -12/+2I personally have not used this application, but I would put money down that Adobe Illustrator's Trace function is far better.
- Boggy1, on 11/10/2007, -0/+2http://vectormagic.stanford.edu/vectorize/comparis ...
- ElBob, on 11/11/2007, -2/+10Oh yeah dude, seriously ***** this. Its free, but I mean come on! Why the hell would ANYONE want to use it? I mean, they could just use a 200$ program instead!
- solid12345, on 11/12/2007, -3/+1Well if you are working with vectors alot you probably own illustrator anyway wouldn't you think?
- Killbot2015, on 11/12/2007, -4/+1Woa, calm down ElBob. You must be new, this is the Internet. Everything is free and accessible to anyone.
- kaffein, on 11/12/2007, -1/+24Already made the front page a few weeks ago...
http://www.digg.com/design/Online_auto_tracing_too ...- Dan2552, on 11/12/2007, -3/+1yeah but it was always down because so many people kept trying to use it at once.
- Killbot2015, on 11/12/2007, -3/+3Heh, yeah and this will help.
- Dan2552, on 11/12/2007, -3/+1yeah but it was always down because so many people kept trying to use it at once.
- MrScuzzles, on 11/11/2007, -6/+2I think pretty much everyone's probably heard of this by now. It's been blogged repeatedly.
- Petzke, on 11/11/2007, -4/+2CorelDraw (for my money, probably the best vector program) has had trace since something like the mid-90s. But I'll have to try this out to see how it compares.
- deadnoob, on 11/11/2007, -4/+2recent dupe. sorry, but its buried
- whappo, on 11/11/2007, -9/+4DON'T DIGG!! I'm @ 75%
- Technoviking, on 11/13/2007, -1/+17Does this mean I can now view Japanese porno uncensored, or is there some catch?
- Ratteler, on 11/13/2007, -0/+12Awesome find. Just wish they had a stand alone version for use when you don't have web access.
- TheMachine1, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1Yeah a Gimp plugin.

- Psythik, on 11/12/2007, -5/+3Why can't someone design a vectorizer that doesn't make your images look like a badly blended gif?
- DigitAl56K, on 11/13/2007, -2/+4A) All the details are gone
B) Your pictures wouldn't look so frikkin pixelated if you didn't use nearest neighbor as a resampling algorithm. Try something like a lanczos resize. - daviddavid, on 11/10/2007, -1/+1Imagaro Z is lesser known but produces better results ... also does font analysis
http://www.imagaro.com- delhokie, on 11/12/2007, -0/+6Vector Magic: $0 ... Imagaro Z: $690 ... Haven't tried Imagaro yet, but for free Vector Magic is a great tool
- Mellowman999, on 11/11/2007, -1/+0sly cooper....
- Zippo, on 11/11/2007, -1/+1Wow, where have this thing been all my life?! ***** saved.
- ubergeek09, on 11/11/2007, -1/+1That's awesome.
- zeroflake, on 11/11/2007, -1/+3great. i use adobe and most of the time i convert myself by tracing which takes forever. but the adobe autotracer is teh suck for sure.
- grantmoore3d, on 11/13/2007, -1/+3Somehow I don't see this being very useful except in rare instances. It's only good for resizing something that should have been created as a vector image in the first place. So unless you have some old pixel-logo image you need restored for a company (and I'd rather trace and tweak it myself anyways)... I don't see the usefulness.
- ubergeek09, on 11/11/2007, -1/+1I did this to some of my images, and it looks really really cool on some of them.
- kigol, on 11/11/2007, -2/+1this is old news.. i remember this from days ago:
http://twinturbo.org/2007/11/05/vector-magic/ - acontorer, on 11/12/2007, -0/+2This is the best user interface design I have seen all year. The designers deserve an award.
- armada8800, on 11/12/2007, -0/+0This site is AWESOME!
- siaoyao, on 11/12/2007, -1/+0I use this with Myfonts.com to make my needed font text into vector EPS, here is my example: http://siaoyao.blogspot.com/2007/11/never-buy-font ...
