- M4cb0y, on 01/08/2008, -3/+27You gotta start somewhere. Following a tutorial certainly isn't going to help you creatively but Photoshop is a pretty overwhelming program to learn by messing around.
- dinostabOMG, on 01/08/2008, -13/+35It's alright. But people, the best way to learn this stuff is by messing with Photoshop yourself. Following tutorials for simple things like this won't help you develop the problem-solving skills that will get you fluent and unlock the power of creative software, that is, as an extension of your own creativity. If you don't have creativity, no tutorial is going to help you.

- muniak, on 01/08/2008, -1/+11Are you kidding? You just follow the steps, it even has PICTURES!
- fotbr, on 01/08/2008, -0/+7whats that saying about a fool and his money?
- skeen07, on 01/08/2008, -1/+8I wouldn't create anything just like it, but it does spark some good concept ideas. Pretty nice.
- joshuaer, on 01/08/2008, -5/+9I would not call adding some lighting and drop shadows 3-d that was just some basic photoshop work. But none the less it was good photoshop work and may help some people who do not know the program that well.
- tsevis, on 01/08/2008, -0/+3Nobody can be sure that all these are real or serious comments.
You know... We are in the era of social marketing. So maybe someone could be spamming.
But, on the other hand, this site is a true source of good tutorials. That's why i dugg it, and that's why I commented.
I am design professional myself and - believe me - I found there some interesting ideas.
Of course I completely agree that we have to be careful on what we comment or digg.
Anyway...
Happy new year! - wiifm69, on 01/08/2008, -8/+11simple yet really effective. dugg
- j4200, on 01/08/2008, -0/+3Notice how they were being helpful. Notice then how you were offering nothing. Good job. -applauded-
- aduzik, on 01/09/2008, -0/+2Tutorials teach you how the tools work and what you can use them to do. That's how I learned how to use Photoshop. Messing around is great, but being able to see the tools working in action is far more valuable.
- waxdart, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2You want design? Buy a book on Paul Rand. This is just a photoshop technique, cut to make your website look just like all the other "2.0" nonsense. How about another glass button tutorial, guys?
- Gee455, on 01/08/2008, -2/+4This is gonna be stupid hard.
- kupa, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2I keep noticing this more and more with various comments on front page stories... and even upcoming. These comments read like some kind of canned spam corny ***** "this stuff is interesting!" or whatever other crap. Seriously, Digg is fun because of the comments.
- stillasleep00, on 01/08/2008, -2/+4PSDTuts is awesome.
- gasin, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Bleh! Hardly worth it... I have seen this (or this type of effect) on so many other forums in the past few years!
- tsevis, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2These guys at PSDTuts are giving some simple, fresh and classy ideas. I am a fan.
- wondertwins, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2hence the name "SPOON FED PS tuts"
- Lanlost, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1I think he was kidding...
edit: I hope - davidrossiii, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1lol
- incredibilistic, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Pretty sick stuff. I'm just mad that I didn't think of it first but it's a great concept and wonderful execution.
It would be interesting to see what the rest of the site could look like. You'd have to have a pretty awesome main body to the site in order to match the quality of the top banner. I'd hate to see someone use this design only to make everything else underneath look like a Google page with blue links and crappy JPEGs.
Not to take away anything from this great tutorial but it would be nice to see a continuation of this tutorial by adding more design elements via Photoshop and maybe eventually taking it into Dreamweaver for a complete site. - spimp08, on 01/08/2008, -2/+3Do most of these comments seem like spam to anyone else?
- hello2usir, on 01/08/2008, -2/+3Yep. Nobody except those with the mental capacity of a goldfish would get this enthusiastic over such a mediocre design. Oh wait this is Digg.
- JamesZB, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2Normally when I see PSDTuts, tutorials are often gone into details on how to use certain techniques. I feel this one is lacking a little, maybe if it went in a little more in-depth into the entire design or if there was more of an unique element on the design.
- wondertwins, on 01/08/2008, -2/+2never saw this site before and I can learn a lot of things here. Pretty cool
- loganarcher, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1I love the craquelere effect. nice touch.
- j4200, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1This is a beginner to intermediate tutorial but for you it's probably going to be stupid hard.
- inactive, on 01/08/2008, -7/+7Wow, that looks REALLY good!
- mbland07, on 01/09/2008, -0/+0I have a University Department's serial to Adobe CS3 Extended that I would be willing to sell to a few people for a reasonable price if interested. Just add me as a friend and let me know how much you think it is worth.
- gigatwo, on 01/09/2008, -0/+0While the layout certainly isn't complex, it's a great design. It's clean, simple, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to navigate. Nice tutorial.
- kum11, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1Like the tutorial, its cool...
- inactive, on 01/08/2008, -2/+2Rubbish - the best way to learn Photoshop is to start with proper tuition. Learning basic techniques is essential otherwise you'll just be floundering around.
- achortleaday, on 01/08/2008, -1/+0now they just need some shiny buttons.
- inactive, on 01/08/2008, -2/+1Why buy the PSD? What can it possibly help you with? Maybe you just wanted to support PSDTuts. I rather they put advertisements instead of insisting people buy the useless PSD file to support them.
- hello2usir, on 01/08/2008, -3/+1RTFM, seriously.
- skaspud, on 01/08/2008, -7/+2good thing i don't already know how to do that ;p
- muniak, on 01/08/2008, -16/+10Ugly.
- bglodde, on 01/08/2008, -11/+4Bought the psd - cool idea.
- Jeffrr, on 01/08/2008, -13/+5Web 2.0 Goodness
- MasterChief4134, on 01/08/2008, -11/+3Well...I looked at it, and its definitely not for the beginner photoshoppers.
What is Digg?
