- Wezlanator, on 10/12/2007, -2/+100Sounds an awful lot like the Rasterbator...

I love the way you avoid being flagged and banned as a spammer by submitting the actual source as the url, and your ***** blog as the 1st comment.
You really are a *****. - avcore, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29Buried. Rasterbator can do mid size images even better than this program with a lot finer detail, the trick is to use the downloaded version instead of the one available online since you can get to a lower DPI. I've printed a few posters with it and the quality is amazing (as long as the images are high-resolution). This is basically nothing but a mock-up program.

rasterbator is only good for hugh images? hugh jackman, hugh downs? what are you trying to say? - MagicBobert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10@inkyblue2
What are you talking about? My roommate and I made a 11' x 13' poster of Anna Kournikova for our dorm room ceiling last year (used over 250 sheets of paper) in full color using the Rasterbator and it looked gorgeous. - zai-asal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I too was expecting it to be a link to Rasterbator when I clicked the article link. I wonder why people who vandalize billboards haven't used these things. Not that I'm condoning such actions...
- Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7The image on the example is from this Korean movie titled in the west: "Old Boy." The movie is hard to find but it's friggin' great.
- Gojulas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@Asianwaste
????
It wasn't that hard to find. I was able to rent it through Netflix.
Well worth it, BTW. - madmathmatician, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I used the pic of Geordi La Forge from Star Trek TNG that has the caption "I cant see ***** captain!" in my dorm. Just hilarious.
- TheKingInYellow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5i would rather use the old trusty rasterbator...but thank you nonetheless.
- koonchu, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8@webtech:
Blocked. I'm sick of seeing your ***** tactics too. - geniusNOTatWORK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'll take Rasterbator any day. Plus, it does color, not just black and white: http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/gallery/i/5841.jpg
- CraigB12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I've never used this one, but I have use Rasterbator. Its a really great standalone for those of you who don't like to install random crap on your computer that you'll only use once.
- wisam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As many would do, I'll go for Rasterbator.
When you're trying to create a larger poster out of a smaller image, pixelation must happen.
What Rasterbator does is create nice looking spaced dots instead of the ugly adjacent square pixels.
This way your poster poster look nice from upclose, although you'll just see dots and wouldn't figure out the whole picture except when you look at the poster from far.
That's the whole idea behind Rasterbator and the reason it's great for creating posters. Stretching the image like this website does isn't a great idea. - raptordrew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't know why people are digging you down, I was actually wondering about a downloadable version of this type of thing... kudos to you for finding one.

color printing at officemax isnt cheap - Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2No spoilers. ;)
- Singular1ty, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3greatest twist ending ever!
- PYREX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1frames defeat the purpose of it. its for big INEXPENSIVE posters. if youre going to buy frames, mine as well buy a real giant poster
- killerasp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3rasterbator is the originator...much more than just an image enlarger.
- nuggetz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Ever try and actually paste or tape the pages together? Trust me, it's a pain in the ass.
- benjholla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Rastorbator is a similar program that I use. Works nice and is not a web based app so you can let it run on your computer for a while for those extra large images that require processing time.
Heres the poster that I made for my dorm room. (sorry if it offends anyone, I don't intend it to) I also have a link the output PDF file, so the poster can be recreated quite easily.
http://benjaminsbox.student.iastate.edu/WhiteFlour.html - guice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That's why I prefer the method of putting them on/in individual frames and doing it that way. Not only does it give more of an artistic look to it, it's much easier.
- haastyle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3rasterbator images seems to come out better looking, this really pixelates them
- SLP1111, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is true, but Rasterbator has been down for weeks after huge amounts of traffic.
- tzone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yes it sucks but i have a 66 sheet bjork poster using rasterbator and it looks awesome
- barbe66, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I have lots of pictures on my poster site.

http://www.ossosnossos.com - dhulser, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1anyone have any good pictures to do this with?
- nstern2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2That's why you do it at work or possibly school if you don't have to pay for pages.
- Br0wn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Anyone know which is better other than opinion? I use Rasterbator but this looks like it will look better close up because it uses the same pixels.
- diggalf, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Sounds tacky to me. Why bother?
- toyotaboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I like the comment when you upload "Please note that the image gets transferred to the web server, so its probobly not wise to choose anything dodgy".. Uh-huh, this is a scam, this guy is trying to see how many photos he can archive.
- haiduz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2The poster in the link is from the movie Old Boy:
oLD bOY is an amazing movie ranked 119 on imdb top 250. Its one of my top 5 favorite films. The violence is the movie is extreme, but if you can stomach it, the movie's story of revenged in incredible. - iMatt711, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2my printer actually came with software that does that.
- DieselDaddy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Get ready to mortgage your house to pay for all the ink your printer is soon to gobble up.
- zai-asal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Anyone else think that room looks awfully cramped?
- jake3988, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Thumbs-down.
A) The image will already have to be that size (or close) otherwise it'll be stretched to all hell. Considering no pictures come this large...
B) Ink. Good-bye.
C) easily accomplished with already available software. - InferiorWang, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0buy glossy paper
- Cerealkillr, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Its not a poster if it doesn't have that glossy look.... imo
- Santabot, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2sorry, but this is a dupe, although a good post indeed!
- nakeddave, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0If you know how to use photoshop just create slices and save for web and print those images.
- MajorD, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Sweet examples for the win...

I'm pretty sure I would've found a better example if I were promoting this kind of tool. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1The Image Mosaic Generator is kindof a different concept but still cool.
Link: http://click42.com/?image-mosaic-generator - inkyblue2, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1unfortunately, rasterbator is broken for color images. the algorithm it uses produces very washed-out images. until the creators update it or one of us makes a working clone, it's really a black-and-white-only gizmo.
- killerasp, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0COOOOL!!!!!
- fireberts, on 10/12/2007, -14/+4the way it enlarges is diffrent
the rastabator is good for HUGH images this one is good for mid size ones - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+1The Image Mosaic Generator is kindof a different concept but still cool.
