- zealio, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13darn, those socks are cool!
- spd998, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10I have the sudden urge to knit some socks now. Damn you Digg.
- lkmbrd, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2Pretty cool. For average socks I get mine from http://www.socks4life.com.
- patsfan456, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17How exactly did Digg go from tech news to knitting? I bet Kevin is going "Oh yeah, we got the 60-95 demographic. That's great!"
- Dumbledorito, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Actually, knitting has been making a comeback as a hobby. Even a lot of hollywood actresses have been knitting during downtime on movie sets.
- KSUdesigner, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I actually had a friend in college who would knit at the bar.
- seasleepy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Yes, only old people knit: "Results 1 - 10 of about 2,450,000 for knitting blog" http://www.google.com/search?q=knitting+blog
Besides, who says knitting and tech stuff have to be separate? For example, http://bajada.typepad.com/everybody_wants_a_rock/2005/03/calling_all_gee.html or http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter06/PATTbinary.html or http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring07/PATTbmp.html (some of which have been on Digg before)

- Dumbledorito, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I'm sorry, but there's too much socks on the internet for me. Socks, socks, socks, is that all you kids think about? I swear, I don't know how you get anything done with all the socks everywhere. Maybe I'm too old, but hot socks 24/7 just leads to breeding grounds for disease and other unpleasant things. I prefer good, clean socks, like the kind my wife has.
- Preacherman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'm just as concerned with all the violins on the Web. Socks and violins are everywhere. This is not a good environment for the kids.
- meshman, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3"Your session has expired, please refresh the page before commenting."
JESUS CHRIST!!!- stalefries, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I thought God was speaking to me when I first saw that message too. I was all like, "Oh My God, I've expired!?! I'm too young to die!"
- Hilton, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Superb source of inspiration :D
Meshman, everything is ok here. - liambarron, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I'm 20 and I knit a harry potter scarf for my now ex-girlfriend and it took so ***** long, once you get the hang of it you can watch tv, read etc while you knit and it's pretty rewarding. Not too sure about socks though.
- anagoge, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Pic of girlfriend. Pic of scarf. We'll decide which we like best.
- silverchrysalis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4there's a joke in there somewhere, but i can't seem to extract it...
- driftwood07, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1the harry potter scarf was enough for me
- sockpuppets, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Also good for puppets.
- anagoge, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Socks on girls = Cute and sexy
Socks on guys = Stupid- Dumbledorito, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Socks on guys held up by sock suspenders = doubly awesome, especially if the ensemble includes a pipe.
- Palaceguard, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Good for iPods too
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=6C04E07A&nplm=M9720G/B - Light11, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4its like web 2.0 for socks
- whiteyMcBrown, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4That was sorta like a fetish site for me.. I'm crazy about knee-high socks on women. Anyone know any good sites to buy sexy ones for the Mrs.?
- sabortijuana, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3http://www.sock-dreams.com/_shop/pages/socks_cat_CategoryID_83.php
There ya go. - nongshim, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0A fetish site, maybe if you've got a bizarre fetish for cankles.
- sabortijuana, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3http://www.sock-dreams.com/_shop/pages/socks_cat_CategoryID_83.php
- mavranos, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Didn't know all you diggers are foot fetish freaks. Although looking at all those socks made me feel funny.
- jordan314, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1lol me too, why does this site feel NSFW?
- DariusMonsef, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Socks with little cut-outs for each toe creep me out.
- ligatures, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I love knitting. I love socks. And I also love ColourLovers. It's a win-win-win situation!
- ShoeString73, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1ribbed socks??
- Sterango, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1OK and this gets to front page HOW?
Do we have that many pervs with sock fetishes out there whacking off now to these pics? I bet they're cutting and pasting these socks onto their favorite pics of nude porn models in photoshop and whacking off right this very moment.
Sorry but I do not believe there's that many crocheters out there on digg, not enough to get something like this to front page, but sock fetish freaks, oh yes. - vivera93, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0those socks might give kids in china sizures!!!!
- alceria, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Even as a chick and a knitter, I'm seriously going WTF here.....how did this get on digg? I feel like I'm in a parallel universe.
I would assume that any knitting even having a chance of hitting the front page would have to involve a fair isle apple logo or a stuffed linux penguin. These socks are cute, but there is geekier knitting out there:

http://www.renf.org/dory/?p=161 (Someone actually knitted an iBook, haha!)
http://www.liv-art.com/Images/crafts/Knitting/Toys_LinuxPenguin%20005.jpg (and someone did knit the penguin too!)
None of those links go to stuff I've made, though I have made the alien illusion scarf (link #2) and I knitted a cosy for a wireless keyboard once to keep cat hair off of it. - ronjohnson, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Kevin if you can hear me, please install filter to block this from happening again. Those socks weren't even cool looking.
- connis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Gees, what a bunch of grouches. So if sox aren't your thing, don't click on the tab. What makes digg fun is the variety and scope of things with which to enlighten myself/waste my time. Viva la variety!
- BigBadaboom, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You know when you're down to just your socks, what time it is? It's business time. It's business time. That's why they're called business socks.
- icleric, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0these are some lovely socks! good for scarfs too! i feel like making my mom knitting me some scarfs :D
- DogtoothViolet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I myself (who is a knitter) was confused as to how this got to the front page on Digg. It doesn't seem to go with the Digg demographic. Nothing too special about those socks either, there are way cooler/more complicated patterns out there.
And to all you Digg guys, I know the knitting average age was somewhere between the ages 50-95 yrs. but the fiber crafts has gone through a bit of an overhaul in the last 10 years or so. Lot's of young, good looking ladies are picking up the needles. Less christmas sweaters and more of this:
