pretty cool- rentmitchum, on 04/23/2008, -0/+3Yea make sure to click this or go to the 3rd page. So awesome in motion.
- dominic2, on 04/23/2008, -0/+3Anyone got any idea how I could get this animation to work real-time so I could put it on the Dashboard? (finally a use for Safari's webclip feature)
- evilrevolution, on 04/23/2008, -1/+1would be easy, what language?
- zeigual, on 04/23/2008, -0/+3flash+actionscript would allow you to do this. could use existing flash animation as an easy template. Just slow it down and calculate the rotation rates or maybe just make frames from the animation and step through them depending on time. This artist has done the hard part. LOL.
- evilrevolution, on 04/23/2008, -1/+1would be easy, what language?
- hairyblue, on 04/23/2008, -2/+4i think there's a hand in the middle, solely to tell the time. it points at all the forming numbers without being included in one itself
- ccanni1028, on 04/23/2008, -1/+2I didn't even notice that at first! Thanks for pointing it out.
- vornan19, on 04/23/2008, -0/+3No there isn't. It's part of 'three'. Unless you mean the one slightly to the left, that's part of the 'N' in 'ten'. Both hands appear to roughly follow the time. No hand follows the time accurately.
- icepick314, on 04/23/2008, -19/+0and you can't tell the minutes...
about useful as a sundial...- infinityofnever, on 04/23/2008, -0/+3now you just have to eyeball which two words is better formed. if both words are half-assedly formed, it's about half the hour between the two.

- vornan19, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1Rainy days and Mondays?

Night would be the answer we were looking for.
- aflaks, on 04/23/2008, -9/+2i... cant see it.
- jebiya, on 04/23/2008, -1/+7cool idea. very unique
- bovester, on 04/23/2008, -1/+2unique is an absolute, you can't put any modifier (let alone the word "very") in front of it
- bovester, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2I take that back, you can say something is "almost unique" or any other modifier that negates the uniqueness, but there are no degrees of uniqueness
- spectre_25gt, on 04/23/2008, -1/+2... except "almost unique", which could be argued to be a degree of uniqueness. The English language gives you many chances to use incorrect grammar that makes perfect sense.

- elitedw, on 04/23/2008, -18/+2All I see is a bunch of sticks and FOUR
- Murdats, on 04/23/2008, -1/+10maybe that means the clock is saying its FOUR'o'clock?
just a guess, I mean perhaps a clock saying four means that it is four o clock, maybe. - dominic2, on 04/23/2008, -0/+3Haha funniest comment

- vyasram, on 04/23/2008, -0/+7***** awesome.
The force is with the analogs. - tikiman453, on 04/23/2008, -6/+17You'll ***** bricks.
- NinjaNato, on 04/23/2008, -0/+20A huge 4-storey-high version slapped on the side of an office building would be awesome.
- Intamin, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4Yeah! And every time it struck an hour they could drop huge balls from the top and turn it into a giant pachinko machine!
Let's get on this!

- brainflakes, on 04/23/2008, -1/+70Daylight savings will be a NIGHTMARE
- rentmitchum, on 04/23/2008, -0/+13He could just turn it off for an hour.. or put a switch to pump in more juice so they speed up for enough to be an hour forward. I mean, he went through all the effort of arranging and figuring that ***** out, I'm sure he can manage a few switches, resistors, and whatever else that'd need. Still, I laughed and dugg you. lol
- ccanni1028, on 04/23/2008, -0/+9...or turn it off for 23 hours.
- Voyagerfan5761, on 04/23/2008, -1/+2Or just run the clock on UTC and convert in your head. I'm running my ***** in UTC...
- Whaines, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1Aren't you fancy?
- Wakuko, on 04/23/2008, -0/+6or move to Arizona

- yeahthatsme, on 04/23/2008, -14/+4Great idea, not so great execution(if it could show minutes it would be the coolest clock ever, perhaps the artist could have made an inner ring of clockworks to do this).
- jjmanton, on 04/23/2008, -18/+2thats about as useful as a poopie flavored lollipop...
- rentmitchum, on 04/23/2008, -0/+6A lot of dogs would like a poopie flavored lollipop. A lot of dogs eat *****. How many dogs are in the world? Let's say one per every 3 households (conservative estimate), and that makes this EXTREMELY USEFUL AND YOU LOSE! You get NOTHING. Good DAY sir.
Dammit I keep typing dogs with two g's. Damn you digg.- Voyagerfan5761, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1Was that a Willy Wonka reference? (The Gene Kelly version.) I like it!
- juniorb, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1I use "Good DAY, sir!" at least once a day. Here's twice. Good DAY, sir!

Wonder what he went through to make this?- EmileVictor, on 04/23/2008, -3/+3It's not really that complicated, set enough lines (clocks) to the right time, arrange them & attach them to the board to create each word. Repeat for each number, then switch them all on over twelve hours on the hour. Add a few random hands in there for effect.
- ccanni1028, on 04/23/2008, -1/+4Every hand is running the whole time. There are no "random hands in there for effect", every hand in the clock is used to make one of the numbers except for the hand in the middle. That's a regular hour hand from a regular clock that tells you what time it is.
- vornan19, on 04/23/2008, -0/+4the hand in the middle is part of the 'three'. There is no hand marking the hour!

- dman24752, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2I'd say a lot of time.

- spleen22, on 04/23/2008, -1/+6Art clock. Love it. Must have been a headache getting them all to synchronize like that.
- hotcod, on 04/23/2008, -0/+5not really no. You have them all set up to show the word (as they move they will not show that word again for 12 hours) then you start the first set at 12, then the next set one hour later and so on. It's a cool idea and such but not "hard" to do really, you could do the minutes but it would take a LOT more setting up. Still very very cool idea.
- joeyjoejoe99, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1I think Hotcod is using the "Easier said than done" mentality. In all reality, it probably was a pain in the ass to do, but it looks awesome.
- AndrewDB, on 04/23/2008, -0/+10I want one. I wonder how much he charges to make them.
- Grimdotdotdot, on 04/23/2008, -0/+9I get the feeling that if you have to ask how much, you can't afford it.
- AndrewDB, on 04/23/2008, -2/+3Yup.. me too Grim.
- Grimdotdotdot, on 04/23/2008, -0/+9I get the feeling that if you have to ask how much, you can't afford it.

amazing.- xz9925, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2imagine them drunk tryin to figure it out
- kiwimonk, on 04/23/2008, -1/+4I was just thinking of clock designs today! This one is way better then what I came up with! Simply Genius !
- rsHoratio, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2I want to buy one!!!! I bet you could rig it to say GET A WATCH
- Shiner6, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2You could rig it to say a lot of things.
- quelcertoleo, on 04/23/2008, -1/+2Beautiful work.
- racco, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1that is ***** awesome!!!! the best looking clock I have ever seen !
- Zizhou, on 04/23/2008, -1/+11Looking at the animated "demo" clock reveals that each number uses it's own independent set of hands...so while this is still really, really nifty, it's not nearly as complicated as it initially appears to be.
- verkon, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2Yeah I was kinda disappointed by that as well, could have put some more time into it and it would be cool
- verkon, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2Yeah I was kinda disappointed by that as well, could have put some more time into it and it would be cool
- AaronStatic, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2mind blown.
- tim710, on 04/23/2008, -1/+2bricks shat.
- Doopdoop, on 04/23/2008, -1/+22He must have a lot of time on his hands.
- tandy400, on 04/23/2008, -1/+2If you meant that to be a pun, it was genius.
- bluesbyrd, on 04/23/2008, -0/+5More like a lot of hands on his time .....
- desertDenizen, on 04/23/2008, -0/+7Artists like this give me hope for mankind.
- ParanoydAndroid, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1I find this amazing, and it appears it would be rather difficult. According to the description on the page, it's not like each "hour" is running on independent gears behind the scenes, the creator said they had the whole thing interconnected, which implies to me that the whole back must have an astounding array of gears _all_ meshing into each other at precise ratios to run all the hands properly. Much more difficult than if the hands belonging to each hour were run independently from the other hours.
- kronborg, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1Well, to me it seems like each hand is running independently: "I put together more than 150 individual clockworks and made them work together to become one clock.". If he did what you suggests, I think he would make it way more clear.
- zeigual, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1How much would everyone be willing to pay for one of these? I'd fork up some major dough for one of these on my wall. Simply amazing.
- 029JO, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2I really really want one....
- sailadayaway, on 04/23/2008, -1/+1They should've put a regular set of hands in the middle that actually shows the time, that way it looks like the hour hand will look like it's conducting the other small hands.
- rac1234, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1There's a little hand in the middle that's just about doing that - the one that forms the crossbar of the T in "THREE".
- indypunx, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1Sometimes I get really down on modern art but this is awesome. Wonderful concept and execution.
- franksands, on 04/23/2008, -0/+3Analog FTW!
I still use an analog wrist watch ;-) - jimjoke, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1Trippy.
- kronborg, on 04/23/2008, -1/+3The description says that he used more than 150 individual clockworks. That makes it pretty easy to make, using only big hands (1 revolution every 12th hour). Just spell 'one' with the first set, let them run for 1 hour (or adjust them accordingly), spell 'two' with the second set, and so on. It would be truly awesome if he hadn't used an individual set for each word.
- dblespresso, on 04/23/2008, -1/+5How about the digital analog watch:
http://www.coolhunting.com/archives/2008/04/de_gri ...- Voyagerfan5761, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2Now I want one of those, too. Grr! So much cool stuff, so little time (er, money mostly).
- tandy400, on 04/23/2008, -1/+2Isn't it actually an analog digital watch?
- maximm, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1super cool!
- frostbyt, on 04/23/2008, -3/+1That is nice.....I could have done better.
- GB570, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1Thats what she said.
- PINTHEWIND, on 04/23/2008, -1/+0That ***** is crazy to stare at when you're stoned.
- LeRenard, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2Why do you have to cheapen the experience that way? The back of your hand is "crazy to stare at when you're stoned". This is interesting to watch even when unintoxicated.
- autmare, on 04/23/2008, -2/+1although it is impressive...
how do you tell if its 12:10 or something ? does it only do full hours..- shakbhaji, on 04/23/2008, -0/+4I think it runs on the "ish" system. As in "it's about 12ish."
- Baryn, on 04/23/2008, -3/+1No you eurotrash *****, you can tell the minute time by the coherence of the next word.
- cydlys, on 04/23/2008, -1/+1Does anyone really need to know the minute anyways. I mean, chances are if you buy this thing you are not going to carry it around as your main source of time awareness. That's what watches and regular clocks are for. It's called art, don't question it.
- shakbhaji, on 04/23/2008, -0/+4I think it runs on the "ish" system. As in "it's about 12ish."
- dddavid, on 04/23/2008, -0/+0very imaginative
- Baryn, on 04/23/2008, -0/+3Some of the words share hands, which is another badge on this *****'s chest.
- DrummerAndrew, on 04/23/2008, -0/+4That is pretty badass. Well done from concept to completion. The top of the S in six becomes the bottom of E in Seven.
- asherchang, on 04/23/2008, -2/+1"Analogue hands"? It's just sticks that spell out stuff. And there's no way to tell what minute it is..
- zenithmbr, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1because we wouldn't want a normal clock, how could we be cool if we had a normal clock???
- Nerina85, on 04/27/2008, -0/+0This is very cool! I digg it..... i want a clock like this
