- Boshow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+45This is why all the rooms in my house are blood red.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+37This is why my rooms are painted with rainbows and unicorns.
- Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -0/+36I want color-changing walls so that I can go from blood-red to something slightly more uplifting when I want to... such as pitch black.
- Tyr7BE, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34Sorry for comment abuse, but for those who want to avoid some ***** blog that nobody cares about:

http://freshome.com/2007/04/17/room-color-and-how-it-affects-your-mood/ - milomilomilo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Are you such a closet case that even the mere mention of colors makes you question peoples masculinity?
Thats pretty rough man.
But good to know we have people like you to remind us that "if your walls are painted than you're a pussy".
You are the savior of straight men everywhere, saving them from falling into fashion and colors, because surely the next step is group sewing and man sex. - cam503, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Acid will make the room whatever color you want.
- squeedgie4me, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Hell, why not paint the entire house yellow?
- kaiza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Yellow makes you feel uncomfortable. Ever notice how when you go to a McDonald's after you get your food you just want to get out?
- Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14"after you get your food"
I think you're mistaking coincidence with causality in regards to yellow. "after you get your food" is the key part of your sentence. - mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Seriously, why the hell didn't the author just post it to the link it's directed at?
- postaldave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"LifeHacker is not a piece of *****, and it does get hits. "
neither is slashdot but you wouldn't link to it just to have to link to something else. this crap of blog linking sucks on digg. just link the damn page you are talking about not a link to a link. - SuckMyDigg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Coz then his piece of ***** website would never get any hits.
- pauleku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7actually there is quite a bit of scientific study on this subject. If you have access to EBSCOhost or other journal-reading sites, it might do you some good to look in on this. Different colors evoke different physical symptoms.
- d3dm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7FTA:
"Yellow captures the joy of sunshine and communicates happiness."
Then later, in the same paragraph describing yellow:
"This color tends to create feeling of frustration and anger in people. This color is the most fatiguing on the eyes."
How does something that creates a feeling of frustration and anger in people, communicate happiness? - Muncher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"[Red is] a good choice when you want to stir up excitement, particularly at night."
Giggity. - offwithyourtv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Red #FF0000
Crimson #DC143C
I wouldn't say the difference is remarkable, but "red" is the kind of bright primary red you see on things like Legos, while crimson is very slightly closer to blue, making it cooler in comparison. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4So what, exactly, is the remarkable difference between "red" and "crimson?" Can we get some PANTONE numbers here?
- gonpost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Actually, yellow rooms tend to make babies cry...that's the only problem with it. And I'm being serious, never paint a baby's room yellow.
- kaiza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@ Akaji
When you go to a McDonald's and you sit down to eat, it is very uncomfortable. Most people don't like eating inside a McDonald's restaurant, maybe its the hard plastic seats or the lingering smells, but my moneys on the color scheme.
They want you in, get the food, then to get out. - coopa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I remember reading a study last year for Human-Computer interaction, specifically the design stage, that said surrounding yourself in yellow can also cause self-doubt and depression.
From this site
http://www.littlemonkeymurals.com/Coloursmood.htm
"However it is not a good colour for nervy people or people easily agitated."
Colour choice and effects on mood are very much a cultural thing; for example, the colour red in China is seen as a lucky colour, in Western societies we see it as a warning / hazard colour. - h0dg3s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3you mean "blogger != journalist"
- julianrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Paint it black
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5my old house had a yellow bathroom and a yellow hallway. It looked ***** obnoxious.
- cam503, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Go away.
- robharper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I see a red door, and I want it painted black.
- xenoploid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+41. It's blog spam. 2. The article is riddled with inconsistencies and contradictions without explanation.
Buried as inaccurate.
Great example of why blogger =/= journalist. - Ulvund, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Rub the right kind of stone.
Sleep under a pyramid.
Eat according to your blood type. - jnvt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The psychology of color is imprecise at best, and pseudo-science at worst. How could you do a competent double-blind study?
One thing we do know, as a matter of fact, is that that psychological perception of color changes over time. In other words, what you think is a great color today, you will think is a boring (or atrocious) color a few years from now. Color TRENDS dictated by the design and fashion industries are a much better guide for color selection. - alpine75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Also believed to help with fertility this is a great choice for the bedroom."
Can someone please explain to me how Green is supposed to help with fertility? This seems to be a bit bizarre to me. - fuckingusername, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7theirs no proof that colors do crap.
lame - Heembo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Color technology, Boyeee!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ok so whats a good color to paint stuff? sometimes my g/f makes me watch HGTV, they will paint one wall purple, the next green, and then bright ass red, and im thinking wtf! not my house! *hopes she doesn't get any ideas*
- JohnboiWaltune, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The top 2/3rds of my living room walls are painted a very muted, neutral shade of yellow, and the bottom 1/3rd is a light brown. The colors are separated by a thin, white chair rail. It looks good. No headaches or anxiety.
- RalphDibny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've actually read the opposite, that yellow is an agitating color along with the color red (this is why you see so many yellow/red product/fast food logos).
- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Living in L.A., I don't know anyone who owns a home. Sucks not to be able to change anything. Everyone has the same white walls and hideous "popcorn ceilings."
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Kinda knew the green one already. I picked it as my room color and theres not a better place to do homework.
- zkirill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I can see how this could be even more useful applied to web design. Thanks!
- atticus8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ Tyr7BE
Actually, Lifehacker is a blog many people like and care about. It's my favorite tech blog, and it deserves the praise.
I'm not saying I don't appreciate the direct link; usually I prefer it. I'm just crediting where it's due. - roominator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2My walls turn red when they get angry...
- JSchwage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And what does this have to do with technology?
- tmcdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yellow for bathrooms, that's PEE COLOR!? WTF
- clesch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.b3ta.cr3ation.co.uk/data/jpg/emobulblrg.jpg
- 5xSTUN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And the best part is that if the Green Lantern tries to come after you, you're all set.
- holyskeleton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1my AP statistics classroom is all yellow and I never got anything better than a B-.
I would say aeroglass black and gray, if they have that kind of paint. - manvsmonster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I saw an article on Digg a while ago about how the colors of rooms affect people, and yellow causes headaches. I agree with the headache assessment. I used to know someone with a bright yellow room, and it is nauseating and annoying on your eyes to have all that vibrant yellow beaming at you all over the place.
- mapipolo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Paint a room with the new zero-reflective material and I'd LOVE to see what that looks like.* Better yet, paint the floor and wall the same.
Hint: it would look like you stepped into some weird science fiction movie......... or space. - sneamonitakis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There is an interesting book on this, it was written towards parents to get them to decorate their child's room according to their personality. Check it out here: http://colortheirworld.net
- rubah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My mom decided our hallway needed to be pink to match the wood floor she uncovered. It's not too bad, kinda a dusky rose. Mostly it just makes me feel weird.
(my bedroom has this crazy green wallpaper, it's like robin hood is out hunting panthers and there's minstrels all scared of the panther. Crazy) -
