- Adium, on 09/23/2009, -0/+42The people at LifeHacker have obviously never been to college. There is no way any of those desks would ever fit in any dorm room I have ever seen.
- LBWayward, on 09/23/2009, -2/+34This is my housemates desk. It is literal 2 floors below where I am sitting. I cannot believe that this is on digg.
I suppose I should answer some of your questions about it.
1) It's not actually a a dorm room, It's an off campus room.
2) It's on the first floor (not alot of carrying to do).
3) No mini fridge because the keg-orator full of home-brew is in the basement.
4) He'd like everyone to know he got laid twice so far this year. - breakspirit, on 09/23/2009, -2/+27I like the old CRT hidden underneath the desk in shame
- TacomaStud, on 09/21/2009, -1/+18It's all computers. How are you supposed to get any work done there?
- Takuro, on 09/23/2009, -0/+15That's probably why you'd have to build it yourself inside your room.
But even so, most colleges don't let you replace your desk. I'm currently typing on a vintage 1970's particle board desk that's ready to collapse and take my computer down with it at any second. I hate this thing with a passion. - Chirp08, on 09/23/2009, -1/+15The not-mentioned built-in flesh light doesn't count.
- strictnein, on 09/23/2009, -0/+14It's so strange that you're getting buried, considering its your desk being discussed here.
- slip5tream, on 09/23/2009, -2/+15holy crap! that's my desk!
- slip5tream, on 09/23/2009, -2/+13its on the first floor of an off campus apartment and its easy to break down with a screwgun. The biggest part is the actual desk itself as well as the two lower boxes.
- thinkb4utype, on 09/23/2009, -0/+11How the F**k do you get that monster up to the 5th floor?
- slip5tream, on 09/23/2009, -1/+9its an off campus apartment for someone who goes to college...me
- slip5tream, on 09/23/2009, -1/+8thanks for the encouragement.

This is a link to a bunch of photos for the rest of our house. Home entertainment system, Kegerator we call the Cervezarator!!, Beirut Tables, and a Sound system. - slip5tream, on 09/23/2009, -2/+9yep, its built to be easily assembled at a new location. We set it up in about an hour, it wasn't too hard.
- fragomatik, on 09/23/2009, -0/+6Nice work....congrats!
Does it come apart for moving...? - Nishnabotna, on 09/23/2009, -0/+5Then why is it called the ultimate dorm desk if it's never going to be inside a dorm?
- teethandeyes, on 09/23/2009, -0/+5You are soooo gonna get robbed!
- slantyeyed, on 09/23/2009, -0/+5I'd NEVER leave all this hardware out in the open in any dorm room (or have it published on the internet that this stuff is located in my off-campus apartment), unless you wanted it stolen . . .
- slip5tream, on 09/23/2009, -2/+64 LED Strip Kit with Remote Multicolor
Item# 4StripColor $59.99 USD 1 $59.99 USD

Yep, so that has a little remote that you aim at an IR reciever that I mounted in the crux of the upper shelf and you can press any one of a bunch of different colors. They have red, orange red, orange, orange yellow, yellow, green, light green, turqoise, teal, sky blue, blue, dark blue, purple, violet, pink/violet
You can also put it on modes where it cycles through all the colors or flashes. - Freshjive787, on 09/23/2009, -1/+5when i first read this i thought it said building the ultimate dork desk.
while i do think its an awesome project and i wish i had it for myself, the likelihood of getting laid with that many monitors in your dorm room is highly unlikely.
come on guys, didnt you suffer enough persecution through high school? - Xzelick, on 09/23/2009, -1/+5It's a corner desk with some green LED lights....
- topcat5, on 09/23/2009, -0/+4Nice desk. I predict the owner will flunk out of school.
- anatraj, on 09/23/2009, -0/+3Agree with ^^ this guy, also, these pics make me miss college a lot. Real world sucks.
- vonskippy, on 09/23/2009, -0/+3Um....don't pretty much ALL dorm rooms INCLUDE desks?
- mogebier, on 09/23/2009, -1/+4It's a desk.....
So what?
You rig up a few lights and somehow it's now "ultimate"?? - slip5tream, on 09/23/2009, -1/+4thanks man, glad to hear it. I just put up a bunch of other pictures of our house which is kind of cool...

- slip5tream, on 09/23/2009, -1/+3The left side directly above the crt monitor is meant for doing work there. I can throw my legs on top of it too.

- krazydl, on 09/23/2009, -0/+2why would one put a monitor under the desk? In case of emergency???
- PatchesOhulihan, on 09/23/2009, -0/+2Not to mention, who could afford all that ***** while in College? That's a lot of packs of Ramen noodles.
- antdude, on 09/23/2009, -0/+2Work on computers? :P
- teethandeyes, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1Can we please have the address?
- atomiku, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1All I can say is: I wish I had a desk like that.
- emberjohn, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1I rather stick with the Folding Computer Bed/Desk - For the coder that simply doesn't want to leave their cubicle.
- SerifTheRobot, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1The great thing about college is not paying for electricity.
- Rawler, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1I lack the willpower to complete endless problem sets when flanked by distracting screens. What program are you in/ interested in?
- wakerexy, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1everytime there's a PC, I get distracted by Digg :S
- exodar, on 09/23/2009, -1/+2That's pretty awesome that your desk made it on digg. I certainly like the lighting which adds a lot to the atmosphere. I noticed that in one pic the lights are green and in another the lights are pink/red. I assume this is some kind of LED kit that you can alter the colors on. Care sharing what it is you used?
- goobly, on 09/29/2009, -0/+1Man, I wish my parents would buy me tons of expensive *****.
- Elranzer, on 09/23/2009, -1/+2"4) He'd like everyone to know he got laid twice so far this year."
He actually found a guy not turned off by all those glowing monitors or the Transformers beer pong table? - vanguardanon, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1I've done a fair amount of woodworking too. It's a great project, I really like the top section. What did you use as a finish on the bark? Epoxy?
- scallon, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1But you didn't decide to. And so you don't have a desk that blows his out of the water. So shut it.
- Elranzer, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1These guys do, as it's not in a dorm, but an off-campus apartment.
- slip5tream, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1yep, but they suck. also this isn't a dorm room. its an off campus room.
- slip5tream, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1which i am
