    • RockinRoel, on 01/16/2008, -0/+6Of course, they only used 2 colors (+ a bit of anti-aliasing), so optimized GIF is smallest and nicest. (PNG is slightly bigger) They've got PDF, so I hope those are vector graphics. SVG would be ideal for web viewing, but it isn't widely applied yet.

You could easily stick many of these on david carsons work but isn't he a well known loved designer (well i hate him but admire the rule breaking back in the day)

    And then they have different labels for kerning and tracking! Get over yourself.
    The double spacing is what pisses me off the most. Hello! We are using modern fonts, not typewriters. You don't need to double space.

      Unimaginative choice, maybe, but I would still pick it over a million decorative fonts on any day. Decorative fonts are the cancer that killed design.

      • RockinRoel, on 01/16/2008, -0/+3I like Helvetica Neue too, and I don't think Helvetica is really an unimaginative choice. Comic Sans MS is an unimaginative (and bad) choice.
        As for web: Arial, Helvetica, Lucida Grande, Lucida Sans Unicode, Verdana and Trebuchet MS are all OK and are cross platform enough. Do remember to type font-family: Helvetica, Arial and not font-family: Arial, Helvetica.

There are some common trendy design elements (like using helvetica, etc.) that sometimes you'd like to say "dude, that was really unoriginal." A lot of the terms on the stickers (kern, widow, hyphenation) are used in typography and would be useful for proofing a design job or for fun on ads and billboards in the subway.
