- Powermac, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18you not being able to afford one.
- Powermac, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17I hear the F-150 looks like a Ferrari F430 - they both have four wheels.
- HelplessSEAL, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Doesn't this look like the car from "I, Robot"?
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -12/+23It's an Audi, not a Lexus or any other cheap Japanese copycat.
Audi probably has the best interiors in any car short of a Bentley....they put all other luxury cars to shame. - devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16I agree, Bass. Audi has elegant, tasteful interiors with no trash sprayed around to make it look expensive. You KNOW it's expensive already because you paid through the nose for it! Wish I could afford a decent Audi, though I hear there isn't a lot of headroom (I'm tall).
- imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12my rollerblades just lost a wheel
- Powermac, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15Don't mod this guy down. Audi's have the best interiors of any car in their class. Better than mercedes, japanlexusacuasinfinites, BMW, et all.
- jeet404, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Like your face?
- borninda818, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9this reminds me of "I Robot"
kinda - tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Well that's because Audi owns Lamborghini. Audi makes some decent cars. It's nice to see a "cheap" supercar. I use the term cheap, because if you want a supercar these days, most of them cost a lot, such as the Ferrari F430, Porsche Carrera GT.
The list goes on and on, but the Ford GT is also a nice looking "cheap" supercar. My favorite supercar today is the Koenigsegg CCX (with the Top Gear wing). It set a lap record around the Top Gear track. I wonder how the Veyron would do on that track...
@fatcat - a supercar isn't judged by the horsepower that it has... - davidrools, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_R8_Race_Car for some good reading
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -9/+14Ok for the ***** modding me down, I drive a Japanese car now and my last car was an Audi so I know what I'm talking about.
Audi interiors are the best in their price range, go check them out for yourself if you don't believe me! - thbt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Does the same thing in FireFox, actually. The site looks like ass.
- davidrools, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4this car is nothing like the "real" R8 that Audi campaigned in LeMans with more success than any other manufacturer (Audi R8's sweeping the podium 3 years in a row! then two more R8 wins). It's still a nice car, but it ought to be called something else.
- tatical, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The STi & Evolution can reach 60 in 4.6 seconds stock, no mods needed :D.
I'm starting to miss i-club/nasioc forums now :( - imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5a STI and an EVO are supposed to be 4.4 to 60
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+60-60 in 4.6 seconds is fast, not supercar fast. A slightly modified Mitsu Evolution or WRX STi can easily go that quick.
- demps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That's a shame. I have owned several Audi's and several BMW's in the past, and the BMW's are by far more unreliable. It is somewhat of a problem in all German cars. But, now that I'm on my fourth Audi, and the new R8 on the way, I highly doubt that I will be leaving the Audi family anytime soon.
- fitzfan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The newest S8 is supposed to use the Gallardo engine too, but it looks nothing like one.
- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7It's not a supercar! It's a mid-engined sports car.
- TheYoshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Good God I love Audi, such fantastic cars. They are as stated earlier usually the best interiors for whatever respective class you're looking at, very tech friendly too, bluetooth, etc.
- porkstacker, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I dunno man, $100,000 is a lot of money for a car that is missing the clutch pedal.
- HaroldHupmobile, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I can't put my finger on what is exactly, but Audi's styling just doesn't do anything for me.
- mddleNameIsEarl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That would be neither functional (this is a mid-engine car, so you'd be cooling the storage trunk) nor necessarily attractive.
- thbt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think he's being facetious.
- jrmy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think using the R8 name is a dishonor to the great R8 LMP1 car.
- HelplessSEAL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3get away from my car perv....
- oxyrubber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There's more to being a supercar than just price. It's about performance, first and foremost. It's also about using race technology in a street car. Then, it's also a little about the desirability factor.
A supercar is hard to define - some people would put a stock Skyline R34 GTR in the supercar category, some would put an NSX, some a Ford GT, and some a Bentley Continental GT. - chrish01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4yea, dsg, as used in the audi r8 and r10 le mans cars are the fastest clutches ever made. boo to you.
- satori3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I thought that about a lot of the car. I'll give you that Audi was already headed in this direction, but it really looks a lot like the Bugatti in a lot of ways, with an obvious price cut. I think it looks sexy as hell.
- NightRush, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Yea, But this isnt all that new, This design was known when that movie was made (90% of the cars in that movie were tuned audis).
- chimona, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2what exactly leads you to believe it will be 600 lbs heavier than your friggin sti. jackass
- devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, yes... thank you! OH! I'm already using Firefox... YOU PRESUMPTIOUS *****. Blocked.
- gallardo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3they do own bugatti you know
- d3sp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3
The prettiest thing coming out of Germany, that's for sure. Beautiful side panels. - DrDabbles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2...or Ferrari what? 4.x second runs to 60MPH are not very impressive. Sure, it's fun to experience...but get a life. I can name 10 Ferraris that would make you beg for your money back.
- elroy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3414hp "supercar"?
Looks like a sports car with a mid-mounted-engine, to me.
Porsche Carrera GT is an example of a supercar. - maxwalker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Audi don't do 'plastic *****' interiors. It's a German car, not an American car!
- aeiou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This does not compete well against the M6. The M6 is a luxury sports car with 4 doors and lots of room and a lot of bulk, while this is more like a 911- small and light thats just made to be quick. Definately not a supercar, though.
- oxyrubber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm willing to bet this is more a driver error than anything else.
Any car will puke on you if you don't do the reccomended maintenance on time.
Audis are notorious for having the lowest (or near the lowest) defect ratios of all major car manufacturers. Friends I know who drive Audis swear by them and typically keep them past 150k miles. The only major problem I ever heard of was the automatic tranny in late 90s A6s... but I wouldn't buy an automatic anyways. I heard they just used the Porsche Tiptronic in newer generation automatics.
That being said, Audis aren't exactly cheap if you wind up with a lemon.
BTW - I'm not a fanboy, but I did enjoy driving the Audis that I've tested. - i64X, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I thought the TT was a hideous car. It looks like a stretched and squatted VW Bug with squared off headlights. Not to mention it was dog slow for how expensive it was.
- monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3DSG is even faster and better :)
- JJCDAD, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4My A4 Quattro just cried.
- demps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2First off, powersliding in an AWD car is not that difficult, not to mention in the new RS4 it is fun as hell. It just takes a great understanding of the dynamics of the car to get it just right. Second, you are comparing a $600,000 custom made Zonda to a ~$85k production car that is there to compete with the 911. Audi's are usually somewhat bland and boring, but after driving the B7 RS4, I have a feeling the new R8 is going to be one phenomenal car to drive, and not *boring* at all.
- swifty12, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4that off colored side panel kind of makes it look a little like a bugatti veyron.
- Javi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Here's a cool video of it in action:
http://paultan.org/archives/2006/06/28/audi-r8-nurburgring-spy-video/ - dicerandom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Have you ever been to the silicon valley? Civics are the civics of silicon valley ;)
Unless you're in Los Gatos or Menlo Park or something. - sfty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Too bad photoshopping these kind of pictures has become so common.
I would rather like to see the *real car*. FFS! - gregmo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The VW Group actually owns Audi and Lamborghini. This car has been a build up for a long time coming. Turned out almost exactly as expected. Beautiful. I can't wait to see if they come out with the V10 version soon. That will be awesome-r
- Burritovision, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I saw nowhere in the ad how many miles per gallon it got.
Also, I can cough up a better performing car in a napkin. The auto industry is pathetic.
I'm going to design a better car that runs on split water. Audi, get on the STICK. -
