- allstar255, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20or to be specific, http://www.duggmirror.com/design/Art_created_with_Excel/
props whoever started duggmirror. but how stable are their servers? - MattLat, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18It's like really bad pixel art! yay!
- TimmyGUNZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9"How does ***** like this make it to the front page?"
Because enough people who don't agree with you deem it "worthy," that's how. - cvstageman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I think Photoshop might have a competitor :-p
- hah456, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The link to duggmirror.com should redirect to the full URL that you gave if you click the link on this page.
The server is a cheap VPS right now and seems to be performing decently. I'll move it to a better server if it gets very popular. - hah456, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6thanks clprO... I just started DuggMirror.com a few days ago. I've been running some tests, there are still some bugs. It gets all stories as they are first added so the ones that hit the homepage have a good cached version. As yes, the concept is based on mirrordot.org.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6haha, I did the same thing to pass time in my computer apps. class
- TimmyGUNZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"i mean why excel of all apps."
To evoke a response like that maybe? :) - bryant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yep. Sweet pics. Just like my "awesomely cool" 2-D lego self-sculptures.
- RavenLemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Waw impressive. Is it a bot scanning for links on digg? and then making copies of them?
- johnnylin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5these are EXCELlent (pun intended)
*ducks* - rmccabe916, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Lol. I remember when I messed around with this in my eighth grade computer science class. Never went this far though...
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, so instead of just using MS Paint, Photoshop, or hell, even HTML, they used Excel. Kinda lame, sorry.
- KCorax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's an artistic expression made with a cold logic tool.
What more could one hope to get from art ? - templest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Vurx's comment is a valid one. If you happen to study art or... dare I say, Philosophy.
+1 digg from me, because it's what I was actually thinking of typing anyways. - gadkins74, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2would have been more impressive had it been the result of some sort of forumla application. as it stands, it's fiddling with patterns. it's cool that he took the time tho, that part rocks pretty hard.
- jacko7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+458 days worth
- vuke69, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Man, GIMP could TOTALLY own Excel.
- vurx, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7whose definition of art? yours? that is a large can-o-worms.
two of the images are are strong designs.
digg for actually getting it printed and bound. - chovi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here is a tutorial for using vba to create "art" with Excel http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=407
- 23seconds, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2HAHA Those 58 days so came out of his small cubicle in the corner of the office at his work
- JK1150, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Would've been neat if he posted the actual files.
- cIprO, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2its pretty cool and yea he either has a lot of time on his hands

http://www.connotea.org/user/ericember - lukes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here's a guy who makes painterly compositions with HTML http://chrisashley.net/weblog/
- jordan314, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1In my opinion, this is way cooler:
http://musicthing.blogspot.com/2005/10/excel-spreadsheet-synthesizer.html
The excel synthesizer - Chupathingy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Kinda stretching the definition of "art", Aren't they?
- tlink211, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1These are the ramblings of a sick mind! I would encourage the police to go the that guy's house with a back-hoe and dig up the garden and back yard. Hey! Maybe we could start a “kitty”; whoever guesses nearest to the exact number of bodys......
- manoftheisland, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I am only diggin this because some poor chap wasted all that time
- rachelct, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1wow...you guys have obviously no idea what's going on in the digital art world. oxymorgan ripped this off rhizome.org, which is where a lot of other art-related digg stories originate. check it out.
- ohkarol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmm, maybe not.
- kbarrett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think it's beautiful. Reminds me of Tufte's stuff for some reason. Maybe I just like Tufte.
http://www.edwardtufte.com/tufte/ - bryon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.
- Lario, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Excel is cool, but I sure wouldn't call that stuff Art....
- matt0baba, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2err is it just me or u could be way more productive in paint... i mean why excel of all apps.
- suicidal-kid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Very cool. In my keyboarding class, i started doing something just like this a few days ago. Its a very poor angry falic.
- AeroSquid, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2what a great way to spend 58 days.
/giggles - metajoe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Someone needs to get a life AND stop posting stupid ***** to this site.
- sabbac, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Sorry, I did better on my apple ][+. Now some mosaic portraits would be interesting.
- AETAaAS, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2LoL... the Digg effect strikes again...
Those images are pretty poor... looks like paint on 200x200
But hey, we get bored every now and then, dont we? XD - apology, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0this is in the "what the f**k else is left to waste time on" category.
- ramiro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Reported as lame. Let's keep Digg clean of crap and report those lame diggs.
- zubi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0David Byrne actually did some artwork like this recently.. I dont really care for it.. but its not about me so..
I dont have a link.. you will just have to trust me.. - fnot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2this is not art, it's CRAP!
- johnnylin, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Excellent.
- thegsa, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Digg Effect, Damn
- sideral, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0However, it's original.
- BlackSheepx, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4That's actually pretty pointless :/ I guess it IS something new but honestly, it's not that great and sure seems like a wasted unappreciated effort.
