- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29try http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/ instead.
Vector files of loads of products and companies. - KSUdesigner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Try downloading the files before you comment. Most of them are vector format. It's a nice site, been using it for years.
- skoles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7How do they misspell something they traced? :)
- rtbenson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Sorry - the URL got messed up. Here's a working one: http://www.logoquiz.net/
- WestDC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7How so?
- khag7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7digg isnt exactly a brand
- bhousel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Thats true that you can't use them however you want, but there are fair use guidelines for the use of logos. A better resource to read is the Wikipedia Fair Use page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use. In essence, you can use a logo "for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research" without infringing on copyright.
- 4hero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5the selection on this site is not as vast as http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/. I just tried searching for some pretty standard logos with 0 results :o(

they traced a knock offf..like Panaphonic, Magnetbox, and Sorny - tuqqer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I wish Digg posters would argue more. Also, I'd appreciate if they called each other more names, too.
- delhokie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It depends on how you are using the logo (see the referenced wiki link). I've used dozens of the logos from brandsoftheworld.com for client proposals so that I had a good vector logo to work with and it's a great service to have available. Want to make your own wallpaper or poster for a sporting event or team, it's here-- using it for personal use/entertainment is not an infringement.
- Dennern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't know why, but the cnet logo on this logotypes.ru has a spelling mistake :S
- utcursch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5The use of logos is OK to illustrate the organization, item, or event in question. For details, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Logos
- MonolithTMA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've been using this site for years. It's a great resource if you are doing a mockup add for various companies. Some of the logos are out of date, but they can usually give you a good starting point.
- CzescToJa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3free? you mean free advertising for them
- iomegaboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Graphic Designer here,
Ummm... Well let's see I can only think of hundreds of ways it is legal to use corporate logos. Let's say my client is a Nike dealer. He want to put newspaper ad together for a sale. Can I use the Nike logo? Hell yes. I'm selling THEIR product. I am allowed to because it is covered by the clients agreement with Nike to deal their product. Pretty much every retail company I have ever dealt with has a need for this kind of thing. - utcursch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Searched both the sides for digg logo. Logotypes.ru says no results found. Brands of the Word found a logo:
http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/search/?action=search&text=digg - leoedin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3nice game, although some of the logos are american and not really relevant for people in Europe etc.

My NASCAR jacket needs more logo's. This site will come in handy, - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@bhousel:
you can get sued for doing any of that with logos.... but they will lose.
I personally got in trouble for taking the local college logo and added some party supplies and red eyes to the mascot. I was told that I couldnt do that, and when i explained and pointed out that i could do that. I was retold i couldnt do that with a subpoena. Luckily when you are totally in the right and yet are fighting a huge company like a university, you dont have to roll over and take it. Not being able to afford a lawyer because at the time I was a punk college kid, i turned to the often bashed ACLU, whom gladly provided me with one. Court was so short we could have done it via text messages. Needless to say I was allowed to keep my partiing mascots. - upsilonh24, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I've seen more adds on "brandsoftheworld" than in the past month combined! I'm not going there!
- rtbenson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I like logotypes.ru. I used it to make a game (http://www.logoquiz.net).
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2>>I mean to point out that this is absolutely illegal.
If these logos were being used for commercial purposes or to endorse a product or service, prehaps.
As I see it, it's just an encyclopedia of logos- some of which are from extinct companies.
The site is in Russia, the home of outlaw websites, most of which the NetCops are MUCH more interested in. - l4lucas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hmm... they dont even have google.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wow, great repository, but ummm....how is this not a lawsuit waiting to happen?
Edit: didnt see the next thread, sorry ;) - Continuum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2sites that provide logos have many legitimate purposes.
When I worked as a graphic designer and customers would say they want their corporate logo on their business card and provide me with a 72DPI JPEG of it i would just look it up.
They clearly have the right to use the logo they just don't have access to a good version of it.
that is where sites like this one come in.
edit: iomegaboy, you beat me to it. - jsreid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3so has anyone heard about this site called brands of the world?
its pretty awesome...
//end sarcasm - 4hero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2*utcursch*
you maybe didn't find the digg logo, but botw has 119367 logos compared to 5000. - rtbenson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks leoedin!
I'm trying to make it more worldwide, so if anybody has suggestions for logos please e-mail me: norbapro =at= yahoo dot com - hasbeen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I searched for Adidas and it came up with nothing. Thanks to the people who mentioned brandsoftheworld.com
- rtbenson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Most of the logos on that site are created by amateurs who trace corporate logos in Illustrator to get better at drawing / creating logos. That's why there are spelling mistakes, imperfections, etc...
- khag7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1great game. 160790
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8Scalable Vector Graphic (SVG)
- mlipovsky, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I was going to say the same thing about http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/. soooo much more on there.
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5why are you diggin me down for telling you what SVG means.
digg is full of idiots. - rtbenson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks khag7!
I submitted it to Digg a while back, but it was quickly kicked off the front page when my site crashed. I'm in the process of revising it and adding logos and I'll submit again when it's ready. Let me know if you guys have any more suggestions! :) - KamelN, on 09/04/2009, -0/+1ok i'm saying it again cause i'm never first to post... but
http://www.logopub.net/
has always been better. - rYno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2ok i'm saying it again cause i'm never first to post... but http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/ has always been better.
- Kilraq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Humm, holy useful batman!
But in serious note I will want ot check out this site and see if they actually do have good quality vector art and are the more basic logo's present. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I guess people missed calvin pissing of ford or chevy

are all fair use. - david76, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3You cannot just use corporate logos however and wherever you want, even in proposals. They are protected by copyright, just like anything else. Most large companies have very specific policies and standards regarding usage of their logos. Even the W3C has guidelines for use of its logo: http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Legal/logo-usage-20000308.html
- johnrobe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1
I know the logo for my company is there but it's about 9 years old.
Most companies let you download their logo for free from the website. - goldendreams, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Both sites are good..i liked brandsoftheworld though.
Those are actually good for inspiration. What ya think? - choda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am going to make a script that will read my digg RSS feed, and search for keywords like "amazing" in the title. The next step for this script is to log into digg on my behalf and bury the post outright. Your ***** isn't amazing unless someone else says so.
- seGGy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I digg it, but I'm not sure what the point is.
- moyness, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I .torrent with ALL the logos in it would be awesome..
*wishful thinking* - greyfedora, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Advertising students use these sites for logos for spec ads for their portfolios (it's easier than tracing them). I don't know if this is entirely legal -- I do know that nobody is going to get sued for doing it as long as they don't pass the ads off as real and I think it's within the spirit of trademark law.
One trick for logos that aren't on either of these sites is to try to find a PDF file on the company's Web site, like an annual report or something. Sometimes these files are protected but usually they aren't, and you can open the PDF in Illustrator and copy the logo. - anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Awful looking site. Please use http://www.brandsoftheworld.com if anything. It's FAR better.
- OmniMe, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2dugg for brandsoftheworld.com, not logotypes
