They also don't have the western "I don't want a fine because we have many more road regulations" attitude - Mooseknuckle, on 10/12/2007, -18/+61>> They don't have the western "it cant be done" attitude.
No, they don't have the western "it can be done with superior tools" means ... - drpeppper, on 10/12/2007, -20/+55They don't have the western "it cant be done" attitude.
- kigabit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35none?
- nodong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+36What do you think logistics is? (A hint: it's not the same as logic.)
- xixor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34I've notcied a lot of people getting dugg down for posting a link to duggmirror lately. In almost all instances I have found the duggmirror link to be helpful and faster than the original site.
- chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31you think digg would get smart and just post a link right under the story.
- an0nymous, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31Just poor folks making the most of their limited transportation. I once put a couch on a honda cvcc and drove 50 miles...9 people in a pinto.... look at pictures of dustbowl families, too...
- RadiantBeing, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30It just goes to show that there is no shortage of ingenuity and ability in the world. Only some countries don't have the right combination of infrastructure, laws, economics, security, learning, or culture in place to make the most of it. This admonishment applies equally to people in the West. We are always in danger of losing the "can-do" attitude by laziness, entitlement, lack of motivation, government interference, etc
- ChzPlz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+35>> They don't have the western "it cant be done" attitude.
nor do they have trucks, it seems. - randf, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28they also don't have "i'll sue the makers of this moped" attitude after they crash b/c they were balancing a water buffalo on their handlebars.
- adolfojp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28Nah, the huge size of their balls probaly saves them from most of the crashes.
- Lososaurus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24I didn't know bicycle and motorcycle tires were that resiliant.
- sundancekid503, on 10/12/2007, -20/+43--They don't have the western "it cant be done" attitude.--
No, they don't have the western "hey this could be insanely dangerous" attitude... - ShrimpCrackers, on 10/12/2007, -7/+30Why are people digging Siavash down? Please click on the link and you'll see Duggmirror knows and automatically links you to the proper area.
Its a handy "service". - sodak47, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22Dude can ride a bicycle carrying a gazillion eggs and I can't get out of my car without spilling my frickin' coffee...
- guardsman85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19I bet they are all real. We saw crazy stuff like that in Afghanistan--camels or Toyota pickups piled so high they looked tripple their original size. One time we saw 9 people on a single motorcycle...yeah 9!
- nodong, on 10/12/2007, -15/+33They also don't have the western "I don't eat decaying stingray, and I don't slaughter my own pigs and chickens" mentality.
- MackBolan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18"Pimp my ride"
Exactly what I thought about Pic#2
"You see what we did was we put a fridge in the back here so you can get cold drinks anytime you want"
Perhaps the fridge was blocking the view but I bet they installed a portable DVD player on his handle bars. - captainmarvel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18I honestly didn't know you could balance so many different types of oversized things on a bicycle.
- nodong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17I have a friend in Bankok who started a moped courier service that got a DHL contract. They sometimes deliver massive packages on a little moped. Not what you expect to happen to your shipment of porcelain figurines when you ship it to Thailand with DHL or FedEx.
- neilpan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16yeah...what about people buying Ford F350 truck just to showoff? I call them dumbasses...
- Conglomerate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Did you ever think that maybe they don't have the means to transport it any way else? Not everyone in the world can buy a car.
- eulergamma, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Donate stuff to charity, Scrooge.
- neilpan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15How can you strap a fridge on one side of a bicycle and ride on it? ...that puzzled me
- eddigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Pimp my ride
- Conglomerate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Wow buddy you need to get outside of the Western countries if you think this sort of stuff is photoshopped. This sort of stuff is very normal in 3rd world countries thats why over there motorcycles sell a lot more than cars.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I imagine it would offer some bit of protection.
What about the dude holding the giant mirror? - captainmarvel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Exactly.
- Brian48216, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Before people go about criticizing how stupid/dangerous this is
Remember that the average household income in those countries is like...$50 a month or something to that effect.
People have to put food on the table and clothes on their backs. - Digitallimit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11They're flowing goods to the market.
- briguymaine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I'd believe it with DHL, my company had pretty bad luck with them.
- weprin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13I got this in my e-mail this morning. In exactly the same order, too. Strange!
- briguymaine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I was on a little island off the coast of Malaysia last year and saw a family of five on a scooter similar to photo 6. Child standing where the basket is, Father driving, behind him was a Mother holding a baby, and another child holding on behind the mother. Nobody had helmets and they drive on the side of the road with cars passing them constantly. 3 or 4 on a scooter was very normal.
I just saw the last photo! At least the kids that I saw were small! I find it amazing how some parts of the world just find a way to get it done. - greendigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9These pics are hilarious :-) Being from India, I can totally relate to that, especially during harvesting season, you will see trucks, trolleys..filled with impossible amount of stuff, especially hay.
- eulergamma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10@o0joshua0o
It's those types of peoples' "science" to make the most out of what they get: goods & products (obvious), services (transportation), and people (family), from the marketplace (or just place) to their eventual personal storage (or just another place). (assuming they have a home) - kiddailey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12It bears repeating since some people still don't understand:
They get dugg down because the referrer checking of Duggmirror.com does not work for everyone due to firewalls/proxies/etc.
Really, I don't understand why people are so bent out of shape over posting the full URL (is it really just an indicator of the maturity level here at Digg?). If anything, people should be annoyed with either URL being posted since all you have to do is replace "igg" in the address bar with "uggmirror" or get a script that does it for you. - thefirelane, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10either that, or they are going much much slower, and everyone has much much smaller modes of transportation.
but feel free to blame your pet peeve. - RadiantBeing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I think it is reasonable to assume that someone would pay a hell of a lot more attention to the road under the circumstances pictured. No doubt speed and a different driving culture come into play as well. One also has to wonder how many minor/medium accidents would get reported. Still, I think it is obvious enough that someone bombing along in an SUV while distracted by his radio or cellphone presents a much bigger danger than someone concentrating intently on managing his loaded bike. Getting lulled into a false sense of security by crumple zones and airbags doesn't help either.
- f0rtytw0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I saw stuff just like that when I was in Thailand. I remember seeing whole families on a single bike.
- azurechaos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Makes me feel sorry for those animals stuffed in there. Interesting pictures, though.
- rasterbator, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16And you wonder why therre is a bird flu pandemic possibility.
- Xirto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Haha, I love the 6th one: sorry kids, mom only have one helmet.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Gee, thanks, fellow Americans, for making me ashamed of my country. Pictures of people struggling harder to survive than your lazy asses have ever worked a day in your lives inspiring you to make crude insults about kills all the patriotism I had today.
"It can't be done" that's right, that's all I ***** hear out of these worthless sacks of fat all around me. It's a shame to see the Revolutionary Patriot's hard-won country being squandered this way. - NuttyAvatar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6What? Please, I want to know what you are saying... maybe something important I am missing out...
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9That dude with 4 chicks on a bike is a pimp!
- NewPunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The best is the guy with the 3 wheel bike and the car frame on top... the dude has to look through the car to see where he's going. Jokes. Dugg.
- otheruser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5lol, this is great stuff.
Being South Asian, I totally understand the nature of these *crafty* methods.
We're too spoiled here. In much of the East, they work with what they have, and that sentiment really sticks (even here). -
