now stop digging me down. give me a reason at least. =D - endlessoul, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Actually, you need to dig ImTheDarkcyde.
He really did start as a bald villian. Superman went through numerous changes before Seigel and Shuster found a winner (in the suits' eyes).
Funny how Lex Luthor is now a bald villian.
Although Action Comics #1 is the first comic the (semi) current Superman appeared in. - LucasVB, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11This is why I love the internet. It makes rarity accessible.
- Grimdotdotdot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Look out for that open person-hole cover!
- Grimdotdotdot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Also, super-baby has pecs.
Surely if his strength was natural to his people, he wouldn't have to be well-defined to be strong?
/goes back to work, and stops pointing out possible inaccuracies about a person that doesn't exist - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+16Brian Singer's superman was not emo. You really don't know what you are talking about so just stop talking.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I should get drunk and run you over tbh
http://www.i-mockery.com/ddaaf/ - datastorageguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I love how on the first page the guy at the orphanage is so astounded at superman's strength that his glasses just come flying off.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Murderess Mur"der*ess, n.
A woman who commits murder.
[1913 Webster]
Up until a little while ago, we still said 'actress' too, but the PC police are doing away with all these perfectly accurate, serviceable words for some reason. Maybe I'm falling into the generation gap, I'm only 36, but I seem to remember people using the term 'murderess' in my lifetime without it seeming odd. Ah, the Nintendo kids! - jonathantneal, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Superman is a cool jerk in this. Awesome.
- SexyGeniusNinja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3While I appreciate the historical info, I'd have to say that the bald villain superman isn't the same superman that people go to movies to see.
- LeeVal, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10On the back, Midget Pocket Radio $1, Bull Dog fish hooks and learn to hypnotize.

It was titled "The Reign of the Superman"

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I thought superman picked up the car because a woman was behind the wheel....
- Gimli, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4That comic brings back a memory, My cousin who was 16 around 1977-78 went to a garage sale and spotted Action Comics #1 being sold for $1.00. The comic was in good condition and went up to the lady who was running the garage sale, "Are you sure you want to sell the comic for $1.00" She said something like "Yes, my son is away at college and I definitely have no need for it". He didn't want to seem to eager to buy it so he held onto it and look at the other comics then bought the comic and left. He ended up selling the comic for $10,000 and he's was only 16 at the time. He ended up buying a car with the money from the comic. I can just imagine the son response when his mother told him that she was selling his comic book collection at the garage sale.
- bitswapper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Any links to relevant info about the bald superman origin?
- kamisama, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Low grade for too much damage? It's a comic from June 1938, what do you expect? They could have put a copy of the reissue but that would just lack the feel the original had.
- cbiz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6My dad was born in 1928 and he is going to digg this!
- yonas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it's amazing how cheesy the dialogue is!
- Shuey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Ok, I went ahead and created a single, readable pdf fie of the standard scans ;)
Enjoy ^_^

or you can try this link http://download.yousendit.com/ACD317E85AF2FF14 - ngageguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@awesomotron Willing to bet even in that condition, it worth a lot to someone. There are not many of them around. just my two cents
- mos6507, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, what a different (bad) origin. Superman raised in an orphanage instead of by Ma and Pa Kent. I wonder which retelling of the origin added the Kents and spent more time describing Krypton? Superman: The Movie's origin sequence craps all over this one-pager origin.
- cwcheang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@GeneralFailure0
I was waiting for a reply like yours. haha. i didn't say this story is a dupe. with the phenomenal growth rate of digg (over 500,000 members now) i would not be suprised if the same story got promoted twice... i dont even care.. but with the link those who werent here before can click on it and read all the wonderful comments... it's actually a good thing.. and i believe i am contributing to the discussion here... okay?
@ellimist
yes. thanks. credits to you. - bacchus213, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here's all of the pics in a rar file
http://www.gigasize.com/get.php/18848/action_comics_#1.rar - palmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So?
- chewtoy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3This first issue really glosses over many of Superman's antisocial tendencies. It's in later years that we finally get to see that Superman is suck a dick: http://www.superdickery.com/dick/1.html
- kiddailey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Doesn't work.
- supes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He should of held on to it, in May a CGC-certified 4.0 graded copy sold for $1,950,00.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for the comic, CHUCK DAWSON .
- bitswapper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interesting that the first act of heroism for Sman is stopping an execution (or maybe roughing up a political aid :-), and the first crime foiled was a wife beating. Interesting choices - I wonder that they say about what problems were uppermost in people's minds at the time. Or at least, what the publisher's believed was on people's minds as the most self-rightous things a super-powered hero could do.
- Shuey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Let me know when the link to my pdf version this expires and I'll upload it again ;)
- HanSolo69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Thank you kindly to whoever scanned this. :)
I think that the absolute best comics story line was The Death And Return Of Superman. (Too bad no one has a .pdf of those... )"
Go buy the Death of Superman TPB and the Return of Superman collection. It's super cheap and collects all those stories. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I expect that most copies of the magazine were thrown away and destroyed. Still doesn't change the fact that this comic gets a low grade for the cover damage. Might be worth more money though.
BTW, how many of you people use murderess anyway? Think about it.
And if you want sexism, look at how Lois Lane acts towards Clark when they go on the date. Man, she is a crazy git. - McMultiverse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The Silver Age, to be exact.
- toneii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0was sold for $195,000

I think that the absolute best comics story line was The Death And Return Of Superman. (Too bad no one has a .pdf of those... ) - chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I was hoping that the child that had this tried to color in the "Chuck Dawson" page (14). Read the inside cover for instructions.
Would have been interesting. - GeneralFailure0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How do people not realize if they post a comment about the article being a dupe that they're just going to get dugg down? Nobody cares!
- Shuey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Anybody have a zip of the quality scans, preferably one that won't die after a few downloads like the two dead yousendit links :P
- palmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Should of"? WTF is that supposed to mean?
- awesomotron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If that wasnt so badly damaged... it could be worth quite a bit of cash.

- fatdog789, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Enjoy this while you can. This is an unauthorized copy, and the university will be soon taking it down.
In case you are wondering, the student didn't receive permission from Marvel to post this to his website, so it's a copyright violation.
Oh, and just because it's on a university host doesn't mean it falls under fair use either. - ellimist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think that may have been me. Haha, I didn't think anything I did on the internet would ever show up again.
- MrViklund, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Just shut up.
- palmer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2"Emo" is yet another meaningless non-word that posters on here like to throw around instead of expanding their puny vocabularies with legitimate words.
