- murf43143, on 11/07/2007, -0/+51We don't look. We are diggers. The looking comes to us.
- Otto, on 11/07/2007, -0/+48Huh? The steel ribbon one is perfectly functional.
- SilentJay74, on 11/14/2007, -28/+71The Loretto Chapel staircase has some cool history to it. Legend has it that the church could not afford the staircase. One day a carpenter arrived at the chapel and offered his services free of charge. The next morning work was completed, whenever the clergy arrived. There was no sign of the carpenter though and he was never seen again. This staircase is very ornate and beautiful. This obviously could never have been accomplished in this day and age, especially since there is no central support beam. The Loretto Chapel staircase still has Architects baffled today.
- toxicgonzo, on 11/07/2007, -0/+42Musical stairs - "to actually make a tune on these steps would involve jumping up and down like a mental case trying to hit the correct note, possibly breaking bones on the way"
^That made my day - KatherineC, on 11/07/2007, -0/+39#3 Crooked. Don't really have to fake being tipsy. Wow.
This one would make a great water feature as well. - mike81890, on 11/13/2007, -0/+38Perfect for Zombie invasion. Keep exterior stairs to your front door retractable.
- minnymoo, on 11/07/2007, -0/+37retractable staircase?
yeah, that'd be a kill. - Calculon, on 11/07/2007, -0/+29Ummm.. it would be FUN. He's old too.. probably grandkids and stuff. Just because you're creepsville, doesnt mean everyone else is too.
- ChromaVita, on 11/07/2007, -0/+27Did anyone else notice that someone's job is a "Wood Technologist"? And his name is Forest?
- TheArcadeFire, on 11/07/2007, -0/+21Those staircases + Slinky = limitless fun
- AnthonyA7, on 11/07/2007, -1/+21Come on guys, you gotta bring this boring discussion into every thread?
- dunderballer, on 11/07/2007, -9/+29The drawers in stairs is a bad idea. You know it would only be a matter of time before you catch your foot on a drawer, pull it out, fall into it, and then-- whoosh--fly down the stairs as if in a toboggan only to be catapulted into a wall once the edge of it reaches the base of the staircase. I'll find another place to store extra socks, thank you.
- thebillgonadz, on 11/07/2007, -0/+18The only thing wrong with the slide staircase is that I don't have one.
- murf43143, on 11/08/2007, -0/+17Now I want to see a digg post titled "9 creative falls" and have someone with a camera at the bottom of each of those.
Well, minus the slide one. These are all great though. - ChaosMotor, on 11/08/2007, -0/+17"Do you have stairs in your house?"
I am protected. - BurnTees, on 11/07/2007, -3/+19way to ruin the fun!
- Jeffler, on 11/07/2007, -0/+14Because he's the definition of awesome?
- jonr, on 11/07/2007, -0/+14I like the drawer version. Very clever. And for leaving the drawers open, just put some autoclose mechanism there. It's not like there is any use for the space under the stairs....
- GemStar38, on 11/08/2007, -1/+15I love the indoor slide that goes with the stairs. Everyone should have one of those!
- expertninja, on 11/07/2007, -1/+13Why am I getting an article titled "Prisons of the World" when I click this?
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -0/+12Is it a weird, creative door?
- AnthonyA7, on 11/07/2007, -2/+12You're welcome, douche. The door's that way.
- wild, on 11/07/2007, -0/+9Its actually really briliant if your someone entertains a lot. Or if its in a dance studio or the like.
- AmishRefugee, on 11/07/2007, -7/+16The steel ribbon and crooked ones are absolutely beautiful... functional? eh, not so much...
- petepete, on 11/07/2007, -0/+9The ribbon stairs look fantastic. I think thats the same designer/architect that brought us the 'B of the Bang'

- logicalnoise, on 11/07/2007, -1/+9Universal studios is working a whole new harry potter section for their park so we may very well get the moving staircases.
- Arnos, on 11/07/2007, -0/+8Exactly what I was going to say!!!
Unless.... the zombies accidentally hit the switch to make them fold out. It would need a safey lock at the top. - strictnein, on 11/07/2007, -0/+7They've had musical stairs at the Science Museum of Minnesota (in the old and new locations) for 20+ years now. I've tried to get a semblance of music out of them, but have always failed.
It's interesting to watch people walk on them for the first time as you can always see it click in their heads that "wait a second, when I step a musical note plays". - Iknockstuffdown, on 11/07/2007, -0/+7and get a mouth full of piss!
- mescad, on 11/07/2007, -0/+6My parents have what we call, "the Harry Potter bathroom" under their stairs (for the uninitiated, in the first book, Harry's bedroom is that tiny space under the stairs). Unless you're planning to put really long drawers, I doubt that it would take too much of that space typically used for storage or a 1/2 bath.
- mandarin, on 11/07/2007, -0/+6Ask someone to pour beer upstairs while you lie down on the bottom with your mouth open!
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -1/+7F'real. You have something better, by all means, show us. If it's cool enough we'll even digg you up for it.
- evillawngnome, on 11/07/2007, -0/+6looks like they fixed it. I was getting the same thing for a while.
- archimago42, on 11/07/2007, -0/+6Drawers can close on their own you know. We developed that amazing technology just after we came up with lasers.
- valeried, on 11/07/2007, -0/+5jeez and i thought it was hard drawing regular stairs. Imagine doing the construction drawings for those!!
- Lingur, on 11/07/2007, -0/+5deputy-dog.com is blocked? Where do you work anyway? The... cat... company?
-Steve Carrell - gh0st3000, on 11/07/2007, -0/+5in the case of the retractable staircase, it would be more along the lines of confusion when you forget where your stairs are.
- p0ss, on 11/07/2007, -0/+5At least it wasn't: "fo'rizzle"
- 1jaxstate1, on 11/07/2007, -1/+6Man, how happy would you be if you had the sliding stairs. This could help bring about world peace.
