Grids: No *****, Sherlock.
Accordions: ok, when appropriate. Better accordions for navigation than annoying hover-menus, at least.
Mega-drop-down-menus: For-the-love-of-all-that-is-sacred-NO!
Most of these are just insanely irritating and save visual space that is abundant at the cost of interactive efficiency which is more important. Stop trying to be smart and clever, and just be sensible. Adding layers/overlay effects isn't improving the UI, it's just increasing complexity to hack around the real problem, if you have one at all. If you're struggling for visual space, fix your ***** content and re-balance it's hierarchical/semantic relationships.
And there's nothing wrong with having to scroll if it's not to get past this ***** "fancy" UI crap, ads, or other irrelevant non-content. - IamNomad, on 05/20/2009, -0/+3This man speaks the truth and deserves your diggs.
