- richirwin, on 09/08/2008, -0/+21I see what you did there.
An extra Digg for the appropriate username. - indyGuy, on 09/08/2008, -0/+19Oh, god, I thought this image was for condomshop: http://content3.clipmarks.com/image_cache/Charolas ...
Seriously, people, group the captions better with the photos. - blackinthmiddle, on 09/08/2008, -0/+17This site has it.
http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/605200A4-8F7F-4573-B ... - jrackow, on 09/08/2008, -0/+13Love it. This makes me want to eat it because I respect an ad campaign that doesn't suck. It's brilliant. It's like an SNL parody turned real.
- MLGLies, on 09/08/2008, -0/+12The Funeral Ad on the Subway is absolutely hysterical.
- ifruit, on 09/08/2008, -0/+11She's going to use a Duracell in her vibrator while he's away.
- nightowl313, on 09/08/2008, -1/+12This is the same article: http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/605200A4-8F7F-4573-B ...
- Turbojugend27, on 09/08/2008, -2/+13I read into the the whole shreddies thing. Some kid just out of advertising school came up with the idea.
***** brilliant if you ask me, advertise a "new" product without having to change anything.
Sales for shreddies have increased since this marketing campaign started.
So who is dumb, kellogs, or the consumer? :P - Cenobia, on 09/08/2008, -0/+10I don't really get the Duracell....OOOOOOH, that's awful.
- doople, on 09/08/2008, -0/+9If you have better things to do, wtf are you doing on Digg?
- stereoa, on 09/08/2008, -2/+11Hey, you did post this verbatim on both entries....
- terrenceisdaman, on 09/08/2008, -1/+9i'm pretty sure the ad is inferring that the woman will be using the batteries while her husband is away
- indyGuy, on 09/08/2008, -0/+8Here's how my brain processed this ad:
http://img225.imageshack.us/my.php?image=neveragai ... - Boooohjoke, on 09/08/2008, -0/+8Mirror?
- shanedj, on 09/08/2008, -1/+8Is it just me or is this page that it links too lacking the links to the actual ads!
- Zippo, on 09/08/2008, -1/+8Advertising is necessary for business. It's how businesses get noticed. It's how they continue to gain sales.
Sure, you can argue all you like that the world could be a better place without ads... just don't try to run a business.
I myself work in advertising. I'm a graphic designer. To us, it's less about advertising and money, and more about an outlet for creativity. It's an art form. And hey, if you can make a creative piece of artwork that also helps a business out, why not?
Sure, you could say that the big corporations don't need to advertise... But, they kind of do. If say, for example, Duracell stopped advertising. Then Energizer's going to keep advertising... few years down the road, Energizer has much higher profits and Duracell's suffering losses.
OK, so now you're arguing that ads warp our minds and force us to buy. They don't. Surely you're not that weak minded. You have the choice to look at or ignore an ad.
Just remember that we *do* live in an economy based on capitalism and free market.
If advertising is really terrible, then look around your house... your life... count all the brand names you see. You buy stuff too.
Just so you know, advertising is what keeps Digg and many of your favourite websites alive. - inactive, on 09/08/2008, -3/+9Really cool!
The Duracell ad was a tad bit tasteless though. Don't use people emotions about loved ones at war to sell batteries. - terrenceisdaman, on 09/08/2008, -0/+6i dont think that ad is about emotions
- reddoggie, on 09/08/2008, -0/+6She's going to be alone for how many months?? Hmmm... let me see, why would she need batteries?
Tasteless, but lawl! - zadadka, on 09/08/2008, -0/+6(In best Richard Attenborough voice)
"...and so we witness the birth of a viral..". - elmuerte17, on 09/08/2008, -0/+6CAPS LOCK IS THE CRUISE CONTROL FOR AWESOME
- FasmTrout, on 09/08/2008, -0/+5I don't understand the Duracell ad. Could anyone please explain?
- Andross07, on 09/08/2008, -0/+5Or perhaps "take a picture, it will last longer".
- GVR90, on 09/08/2008, -0/+5Good mirror.
- oxilite, on 09/09/2008, -0/+5As a member of the military, I applaud this ad. Because when I deploy, I don't want to have to worry about my Girlfriends batteries running out, causing her to look for a biological solution!
- drummer815, on 09/08/2008, -0/+5I think the message is: Batteries go in vibrators while soldiers are away at war. Classy, Duracell. Although I'm guessing that these were similar to Photoshop Fridays, not created by these companies.
- ZiggyILM, on 09/08/2008, -0/+4...but you're on Digg
- muttsuki, on 09/08/2008, -0/+4this page seems to not load........
and it sucks
someone mirror or something. :P - plhofmei, on 09/08/2008, -0/+4Once again we see (several times): sex sells.
- BoneheadFarker, on 09/08/2008, -0/+4Nope...there are lots of billboards advertising it too.
- ethana2, on 09/08/2008, -0/+4What the heck, I loaded the page from a mirror and I can't see /any/ of th---
ohhhhhhh
Those ABP guys are getting GOOD. - Craftybadger, on 09/08/2008, -1/+5Mirror?
- channelx, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3Blue Sprite bukkake ftw!
- asnider, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. We have a naval museum in Alberta?
- nedzeve, on 09/08/2008, -1/+470? Could you narrow it down to maybe your 10 best for those of us who have slightly better things to do all day?
- hagfish70, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3No, I only had to look once to see that the site was down.
- aserer511, on 09/08/2008, -2/+5top advert that did NOT make you want to look again-The Seinfeld/Gates microsoft ad
- VenDrake, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3@ reddoggiereddoggie Yeah, I thought of that, but I really didn't get that from the rest of the picture. I kept looking for someplace where she was caring a battery pack, or a toy or something, but I just didn't see it there anywhere. It it weren't for the fact that there's a battery in the bottom corner, that thought never would have crossed my mind.
- zip000, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3Oh, I thought that it was something lame like the soldier runs on duracell.
- Mayday, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3Haha...didn't think of the vibrator. I was thinking that their batteries will last as long as the war.
- liquisoft, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3Some of those aren't actual ads. They're just 'shopped images shared around the net.
- NathanielJ, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3@Turbo - Why does either have to be dumb? It's not like us Canadians are buying them because we actually think they're new/changed.
- fakekevinrose, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3Hey, theres no room for your high road interpretation. our minds our in the gutters and i wont let you ruin that.
- anniejmiller, on 09/08/2008, -0/+2that ad just didnt make any sense. i'd like to think that there is some sort of actual humor in that commercial, but I'm pretty sure even the writers of that commercial don't know what's going on. if they're hoping to make microsoft more hip by using jerry seinfeld, they are so wrong.
- inactive, on 09/08/2008, -0/+2I lol'd.
