- philo23, on 07/03/2008, -2/+21This a great collection of great looking icons, also my first recomendation by the Digg recommendation engine. I think i'm already liking it..
- taron, on 07/03/2008, -3/+2Smashing, indeed! (both of them)
- Brettnian, on 07/03/2008, -10/+3Awesome material if you're too lazy to make your own.
- stevene, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Let's see the ones you've made.
- Tddupre, on 07/03/2008, -2/+4I was actually looking for some new icons
- sgtcaboose, on 07/03/2008, -4/+1Whats with HQ icon sets? How often do people change their icons?
Also, generic comment about Digg recommendation engine.- geoken, on 07/03/2008, -0/+5It's not about frequently changing your icons, it's about choosing an icon set you like. If there are 55 icon sets, there will probably be only 1 or 2 you like enough to actually use.
Also, the main point of these is for use in web/app design not to theme your computer (which is probably obvious considering the great majority of these icon sets are too incomplete to be used for an OS)

- chandan333, on 07/03/2008, -3/+1Awesome is the word.
- PrometheusZero, on 07/03/2008, -0/+8The Digg Recommendation engine is pretty sweet, wouldn't have found this otherwise.
Oh, yeah... icons, um... good stuff. - owaters, on 07/03/2008, -2/+1Some amazing looking icons there - but I wouldn't know what to do with 95% of them!
- liamuk7, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Thanks for the love & for featuring my set :)
- skewl, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1WOW! very impressive looking icons.
- carlos259, on 07/03/2008, -0/+6Amazing icon sets. My desktop will be happy :D Thank you Digg recommendation engine!
- Steinr, on 07/03/2008, -2/+1not sure why but nice icons always have a great appeal, in my icon folder I now have close to 18K icons, some duplicates but never mind.
- biddows, on 07/03/2008, -1/+2Wow, brilliant resource. Dugg, favorited, the whole lot :)
- Thrilltone, on 07/03/2008, -6/+1What's the point of using an icon that everyone else has? Make your own. It's not difficult.
Those are beautiful but many of them are indistinguishable at 16x16- Scrappy1850, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1i have tried and failed to make my own! i need large hi-res icons for my projector screen. but when i make my own they always come out about 2/3 the size of pre made hi-res icons.
- Thrilltone, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1> "i need large hi-res icons for my projector screen."
Here is a plugin for multi-resolution favicon.ico files

If it's just projector images you're concerned about, you may not be restricted to just .ico files?- Scrappy1850, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1no, my main monitor is a projector because i like playing games on a 119" screen. its just a regular vista machine and i like using large hi res icons to make it look large, bold and impressive. i want to use dvd covers for my media library, but whenever i try to turn the images into hi res icons they shrink.
- sfrench, on 07/03/2008, -0/+13Great article. Also recommend the Fam Fam "Silk" icons if you are primarly in need of small web icons.
http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/silk/- SK23, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3famfamfam is the king of all free icon sets.
- renegadeafk, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Tango
- JustAFarmBoy23, on 07/03/2008, -0/+0A great collection of icons.
- carbonetc, on 07/03/2008, -1/+1I'm surprised the Silk icons weren't in there. I guess they assumed everyone knew about them already.
I wish icon designers would realize that adding shadows underneath their icons (the ones that imply each icon is floating above a floor) ruin them for a lot of uses. If they really insist on keeping things all trendy-Web 2.0, then it would be nice to at least have the option of downloading them with and without.
It's a great list though. I found a few handy sets. - zosoIV, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1So. Many. Icons.
*drops* - aenima987, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Anyone know how to apply these in XP?
...i know, Windows :) - bleaked, on 07/03/2008, -0/+4A year ago, I found probably the best KDE icon set I have ever come across. Very comprehensive and quite sexy.
http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/OS-K+icon ...
It's called OS-K, and as the name suggests, it's loosely based off of an OSX Aqua feel. Despite that, it still feels very Linux/KDE and modern as well.
Just save the archive file, then install it as a theme in the KDE icon config menu. (System Settings / Appearance & Themes / Icons)
The official Oxygen icon set for KDE4 is just as wonderful, and recently it was released for KDE3 users! - TH3W1R3D, on 07/03/2008, -0/+8If anyone wants low quality, MS Paint made icons check these out: http://www.filedropper.com/64874024completeicons

- antdude, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1How do we download from the asian sites?
- DrMcFondled, on 07/03/2008, -2/+0Why does this make it on the front page?
- kingm1k3, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Why does Digg always fap over icons? God you fags.
- tomkorbak, on 07/04/2008, -0/+0Thanks for this a great collection!
