- Jandels, on 02/03/2009, -0/+23Even though I'm a long time user of famfamfam, I must say the fugue icons are the best set on the net:
http://www.pinvoke.com/
It's up to 1,441 icons as I write this. - darylspong, on 02/03/2009, -1/+17And you should leave English to the English speaking people.
- jmd2121, on 02/03/2009, -0/+16... you can download over 13,000 of the open licensed icons here:

Volunteers pulled this together and posted it just 10 days ago. - darkism, on 02/03/2009, -0/+7more like syntax error
- pedepy, on 02/03/2009, -3/+10so .. why must *everything* on digg/Design be lists ?...
- sockpuppets, on 02/03/2009, -1/+6English, *****. Do you speak it?
- 3mpire, on 02/03/2009, -0/+5I would rather give my customer a site that has useful features, rather than wasting my time developing yet another set of icons.
- lendrick, on 02/03/2009, -0/+4There's something to be said for that line of thought, but then, there's also something to be said for sticking with the standards. As 3mpire says above, you can spend time reinventing the wheel or you can spend that time building a useful website. The other thing to note is that people understand standards. Though your site may not look unique, it'll be easier to use if people recognize the icons by their function. Take Google, for instance. It's a logo, a search bar, a couple of buttons, and some links to some of their expanded services. It doesn't look particularly unique, but it's one of the most (if not *the* most) popular destinations on the web, and that's definitely not due to any creative design on their part. Even the more complicated pages, like gmail and docs, use certain de facto standards that people have come to expect in order to make their applications easier to understand. They didn't get creative -- they just made it work well.
- inactive, on 02/03/2009, -0/+4lol his user name is "Syntaxgs"
- syntaxgs, on 02/03/2009, -0/+4AT wesholig it not 08 any-more I been a meber here for a YEAR
- Stupidumb, on 02/03/2009, -0/+3OK, how should a large collection of icon sets be presented to us?
- NyteStarNyne, on 02/03/2009, -3/+6I like that fapfapfap
- alexanEmpire, on 02/03/2009, -0/+3I that thong thong thong thong thong!
- bingostud722, on 02/03/2009, -0/+3Maybe some of those people aren't graphic designers, but are web developers?
I love these lists, since I don't want to spend a bunch of time designing icons that an actual graphic designer probably made 10 times better. I can design user interfaces, and do all the programming on the back end, but its nice to have a compiled list of resources for things like icons.
It's not about being lazy - its about utilizing your time in an efficient way. The less time I am designing icons, the more time I can spend cleaning up code. - aasukisuki, on 02/03/2009, -0/+3Great link, thanks!
- misterparry, on 02/03/2009, -0/+2digg effect strikes again

- stuffradio, on 02/03/2009, -0/+2Huh, Good god. What is it good for?
- Scrappy1850, on 02/03/2009, -0/+2Evvvvvaaaaaaaaaaaaaaeeerrrrrrrrrrrr!
- 2experts, on 05/20/2009, -0/+1nice collection, thanks!
- serif69, on 02/03/2009, -2/+31. Because the people who digg these are never actually designers.
2. People are lazy and don't want to:
a. Design their own stuff
b. Learn how to design properly (instead of from tutorials)
c. Search for anything on their own
3. Go to http://www.undrln.com if you want actual design content in a digg-style presentation. - hawksfan03, on 02/02/2009, -12/+13speckyboy.com thank you so much for compiling this great list of web development, design and application icon sets. you are the greatest website ever.
buried - godsdead, on 02/03/2009, -0/+1There are so many posts like this, most of the time they link to the places they were origionally downloaded from, and those sites remove or move them for whatever reason, mirrors need to be included.
- Kevunism, on 02/03/2009, -0/+1Digg actually uses some icons from the Silk icon set by famfamfam, it's a beautiful icon set
Ex. http://digg.com/about/ on the right side menu - crutex, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1there's only one decent icon pack in this list, and it's been around for years... digg ***** sucks.
- Bull3t, on 02/03/2009, -0/+1Haha, unfortunately not. Sites back up.
- svivian, on 02/03/2009, -0/+1Those icons aren't clear at all, they're all blurry.
- ventralnet, on 02/03/2009, -0/+1Can these icons be used for comercial applications?
- imagesplace, on 07/04/2009, -0/+0Thanks for sharing this nice collection.
http://www.design2work.net - bulllfrogg, on 02/03/2009, -0/+0aaaannnddd, down again
- irfanmp, on 02/02/2009, -12/+12I like that famfamfam
- easymusic, on 02/09/2009, -0/+0Awesome Photoshop Patterns and Brushes for Designers
http://www.allfreebrush.com/
Seems to be recently redesigned. This site is a great resource! - isabela, on 02/04/2009, -1/+0This is GREATTTTT. Thank you!!!
- algaeturd, on 02/03/2009, -4/+3Worst comments in the history of Digg. Someone screen capture them and submit.
- imkidred, on 02/03/2009, -2/+1Buried for showing too many lame PC icon sets. There are so many excellently rendered mac OSX sets that simply are better because they are 128x128, have transparency masks and allow for photo-realistic icons. These were tiny, flat and simple and seem to leave off any average OSX icons, much less some of the gems.
- wesholing, on 02/03/2009, -4/+3Jesus, almost 1,000 comments in about three weeks, all nonsense.
http://digg.com/users/syntaxgs - Bull3t, on 02/03/2009, -3/+1Nice to know the website can handle a large amount of traffic. Bookmarked for future viewing as it's not loading.
- TBBucs, on 02/03/2009, -7/+5These are great. The problem is now everyone knows about them :(
- AlexsCellarDoor, on 02/03/2009, -6/+3Sorry I found the majority totally unusable. Buried.
- bamatime, on 02/03/2009, -6/+3What a bunch of ***** icons. If you use these you are complicit in the homogenization of the web. Design your own. Be a star. Wear your balls like an Italian horn necklace.
- inactive, on 02/03/2009, -5/+1If you are building your website you should make your own style, not take from someone else-even though it's free
