- johnsee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Maybe if you actually submitted it once there was something there people would digg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Buried as innacurate. Icons in the future are not icons offered. They are icons with-held.
- williamw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Umm....when you say icons, do you mean a gross "aqua" rounded rectangles with different gradients and copywrited logos?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3featuring a gross overuse of the aqua/glassy effect!
- Halbyrd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3So far, what I've seen is one blank, rounded-corner, rectangular "icon" with about 20 different logos that are mostly other people's trademarks grabbed, edge-detected, beveled, and slapped over top of the face. The other sets look to be much the same, with different--and mostly lifted--logos and a palette swap. Sorry to rain on your parade, but this doesn't seem very original--and that's probably the source of the negative reaction. Not to mention, releasing these as "license free" doesn't help much when you're blatantly trampling over other people's IP rights in creating these.
You've got some artistic talent, you just need to be a little less lazy about exercising it. - cookiebearo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6wow this is cool!
just kidding, this is ridiculously stupidd
buried as lame - gringomasta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm not waiting until march to gain access to these....
- Flegg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This Sucks
- achen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And off the front page it goes.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I would be curtsying all over the ***** page if he actually offered some free icons. I'd be so damn appreciative, people would probably give me a medal.
But he's not offering anything right now. How the ***** did he get all those diggs for something that possibly might happen days from now, if we're lucky? (and remember)? - troydoogle7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3dude he was joking... heres a note, when promoting yourself try not to be a douche bag and swear at users you are promoting too...
Marked as lame, because author is a douche bag... - achen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1buried
- Miniman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 It aint free yet.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4He's writes that he is from "Quebec (Canada)". He's one of those crazy Frenchmen that pretend Quebec isn't in Canada.
Buried for being too French. - YumZ, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3..hardly worth it
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4He's offering his icons for FREE so you can use them if you want to. If you don't want to, then ignore it and move along. You think these just magically appeared out of nowhere? No. I'm sure he put a lot of effort into them. And to offer them completely free is very generous of him.
Piss off, you ungrateful pieces of *****. - OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm pretty sure there's a way to make these in Photoshop in a few steps... Not exactly worth the hype imho....
- enterthepizza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, jmoisan, I'd appreciate svg instead of png.
Just my 2c. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There not even proper icons, there more badges or emblems or something. I was expecting something to replace desktop icons, about the only use I could think of these being would be to dump on a website/forum to show your interests like those userbar things.
- freeiconsweb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Also see
http://www.freeiconsweb.com - nmaster64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1One set is downloadable...from site:
Blackout
Available NOW, 3 days early ! :)
At least it's the cool one...it's black and has the Wii logo in there! My favorite color and favorite console... :P - Samtherocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"The complexity of the work has nothing to do with its quality."
Yep you're right there... but originality has everything to do with quality. Originality is what separates designers from people that can follow tutorials. And the use of copyrighted logos without due credit is NOT good design. - Samtherocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow... this guy is soooo talented!
/sarcasm
A kid could do this in about 8-10 steps in Photoshop. - jmoisan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I figured it was kind of obvious when looking at the names. Sorry for the plug.
- jmoisan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Thanks adamsucks. I did put a lot of effort into these, and reading comments like those of this page makes me want not to release them... but I guess people are impatient, and there's nothing I can do about it.
Everyone else: I KNOW they're not available yet, I need some time to package everything and make sure it's OK. - jmoisan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Blackout, the first set in the series, is available NOW. Thanks for your "patience"...
- jmoisan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0The complexity of the work has nothing to do with its quality. I know these are not the most original icons ever, but I think they look cool, simple, and they can be very useful, so I decided to share them with all of you.
I can't believe I'm getting so much negative feedback for this, wtf ?! - jmoisan, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2"Buried for being too french".
F*ck you, there's not a single french word on the whole page. And yes, I'm proud to live in Quebec, do you have a problem with that ?
Unbelievable. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2bury.. replied to wrong post
- jmoisan, on 10/12/2007, -14/+0The first set, Verglas Blackout, will be online December 27, 2006. Thanks for digging this :)
