- Scaryclouds, on 05/18/2008, -6/+266I can't get over the level of detail he put into the cat and girl and how small he then made him. They are like 15 freaking pixels tall! There is attention to detail there then there is OCD.
- theradical, on 05/18/2008, -4/+222wow he didn't even check facebook once.
- aphonik, on 05/18/2008, -2/+179Final Piece: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chadsnuts/2433450474/ ...

- monospaced, on 05/18/2008, -5/+147In Illustrator, there are no pixels.
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -39/+152Amazing details and quality of work; however awful music..!
- drgirlfriend, on 05/18/2008, -0/+100No wonder it took 40 hours---he's drawing invididual parameciums out in the water.

theres the site for the artist, you can order a print of this illustrator piece - monospaced, on 05/18/2008, -0/+75Wish I could have the full, layered Illustrator file, just to browse in detail. It's easy to get lost in that application when illustrating.
- austin006, on 05/18/2008, -6/+75in soviet russia, the pixels illustrate you
- purpleaffro, on 05/18/2008, -3/+70They're more interested in the fact he used Vista than his actual work..
- rollxnut, on 05/18/2008, -8/+59He needs to start making videos in which he insults us due to our inabilities at illustrator, adds personal comical stories. I heard somewhere that that formula works.
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -4/+55In that case, you might be shocked to learn that all real artists have OCD.
- HHP2K, on 05/18/2008, -8/+57"I've screwed with my install of Vista a lot, so I got some crashes and some BSODs, but obviously those were not captured. On the whole, I've been very happy with the OS, though."
PHRASE_DOES_NOT_COMPUTE_ERROR_ERROR - h3lx, on 05/18/2008, -6/+5340 hours with a standard mouse equates to about 5 hours with a WACOM.
I wish I had time to devote 40 hours to a single piece. Our production is running at about 5-15 jobs a day, 2//3rds of them converting shotty ppt files into functional art. - JesperL, on 05/18/2008, -0/+46Is there a larger resolution version? 900x600 really doesn't do it justice.
- Gimpishi, on 05/18/2008, -4/+37We Carry On by Portishead, in case you liked it / want to avoid it.
- pearcey, on 05/18/2008, -18/+50Sorry for my naughty language, but............. God Dam that Mother ***** got skills™............... Im unashamedly jealous!
- cgruber, on 05/18/2008, -4/+34I think my speakers are broken.

20" x 12". Assuming a 300DPI print size, the dog / woman can be calculated.
Looking at the flickr upload for reference : http://www.flickr.com/photos/chadsnuts/2433450474/ ...
The woman / dog are 6 pixels high, the image is a total height of 900 pixels. This means that the pair make up 0.00667 of the vertical height. Once again, assuming 300DPI, 12 x 300 = 3,600 vertical pixels / dots. Multiplied by the ratio the two take up, you see they are only 24px tall in the final print.
Even if printing at a very high resolution, like 600DPI, they only appear to be 48px tall.
If you look at the detail shot on the website, though, you cannot see the features of the woman or the dog clearly -- indicating that the image was not printed at 300DPI or more.

While it's true that this is a vector-based image, his comment about it "only being fifteen pixels tall" is still valid, as the vector image must eventually be converted into a print.
A 64 x 40" print at 300DPI would only see the characters being 80px tall, and when looking at a print with a height of three and a half feet, you are not going to be looking at a bit of detail that is smaller than one inch. - dclowd9901, on 05/18/2008, -0/+23Indeed. What he meant to say was, "They're so *RELATIVELY* small in comparison to everything else!" It's how my girlfriend explains her dissatisfaction with my penis.
- joeydoo, on 05/18/2008, -0/+23You have an xbox logo as your avatar... some Microsoft divisions are more money grabbing than others then?
- JesperL, on 05/18/2008, -1/+23Portishead - We Carry On
from their latest album, Third - JYoungest1, on 05/18/2008, -4/+25The way Apple and Adobe are fighting it wont be long until Illustrator is for Windows only. I use PC only for design any how and it works great.
- fishpen0, on 05/18/2008, -0/+19I could print this on the side of my house and still not see all the detail.
- Diderotten, on 05/18/2008, -21/+40Portishead rocks.
- zwei, on 05/18/2008, -5/+24Most people don't get Portishead ...I was quite happy with the song selection.
- cshaaban, on 05/18/2008, -0/+18Well he is trying to sell prints of it. Makes sense that he wouldn't go putting the full size file online.
- papastout, on 05/18/2008, -5/+22That was Freaking Sweet! I am so not worthy.
Though I could see how such a project would appeal to anyone with a God Complex - FatLoser, on 05/18/2008, -0/+15I could be wrong, but this is a ***** meme.
- joeydoo, on 05/18/2008, -3/+18He must have screwed with it a lot. My computer has run Vista 24/7 for 3 or 4 months and it's never crashed on me.... There has been some buggy bits and pieces, pre sp1 mainly, but it's never crashed or blue screened.
- TheConman, on 05/18/2008, -2/+17I could print it on the side of your ego and maybe then we would see all the detail.
- amercer, on 05/18/2008, -1/+15Very Katamari Damacy.
- iNiz, on 05/18/2008, -1/+15best comment.
- aussieNickuss, on 05/18/2008, -2/+17I don't know what the hell is wrong with your computer, but CS3 works a dream on Vista for me.
- Chompy, on 05/18/2008, -1/+14So toss a big transparent "SAMPLE" across the image. The point here is that even if I were interested in buying a print, I couldn't make the decision based on the tiny version of the image that he's made available.
- Kakemonstere, on 05/18/2008, -0/+13Yeh, you can't even see the cat and the women which has tons of detail.
- mossblaser, on 05/18/2008, -0/+13That is vector - that is what you do.
- useful_idiot, on 05/18/2008, -0/+12I have a WACOM too and I've honestly grown to prefer the mouse in Illustrator. Photoshop is a different story.
- Soave, on 05/18/2008, -0/+12Airjuggernaut:
You can get an electronic image printed out. Therefore, he wouldn't want to give people the ability to print it for free. - kiiwii, on 05/18/2008, -1/+14You're stupid.
- purelithium, on 05/18/2008, -0/+12I e-mailed him about it, maybe he'll offer it.
- HotSaucePanCake, on 05/18/2008, -0/+12Will Smith will say the Aliens did this...
No, too soon? - JAFFA, on 05/18/2008, -0/+13Tut please! ;-)
- misconstrued, on 05/18/2008, -9/+20Are you crazy? Portishead is great!
- inkswamp, on 05/18/2008, -0/+10> I'm not trying to be a grammar nazi
Yes, you are.
And by the way, Nazi is capitalized. - GawtMilk, on 05/18/2008, -1/+11Well since you're probably using an operating system for super creative geniuses, lets see your work.
- dn11, on 05/18/2008, -2/+12yeah, i was joking because I use Photoshop and illustrator under both OS X and Windows and I don't really have a preference either way and both are equally stable for me. But I use XP.
