- cathpah, on 04/12/2009, -1/+13huh? I think most skateboards are beautiful....whether they're brand new lookin purty on the wall still wrapped in plastic, or whether they're scraped and chipped to hell from lots of use.
- icantdenythis, on 04/12/2009, -1/+11one healthy board slide and your deck is now a dark layer of wax, dirt, and paint
skateboard art is cool but if you actually ride the board it is a fleeting commodity - EatingPie, on 04/12/2009, -2/+9Some very beautiful designs.
The surfboard works similarly as a canvas. My shaper, Craig Hollingsworth, collaborated with an artist. He'd shape the boards, and she'd do the artwork.
The main difference is, you can't replicate surfboard designs. Every single one is hand painted, and there's no machine that can copy those paintings onto multiple boards. (You actually can't replicate surfboard shapes either, even when a machine is used -- like Channel Island Surfboards -- a human still has to make the finishing touches.) So if you buy a surfboard with a graphic, you're going to pay a premium, and probably not ever surf on it. But you have an original.
What's nice about these skateboards is they're beautiful, AND most people can afford them!
-Pie - Pirate42, on 04/12/2009, -0/+6a NSFW tag would be nice.
Some of us have children around. - areohbe, on 04/12/2009, -2/+7Some of these designs were great, but some were very poor... I own and run Failed Skateboards and believe many of our products are superior to some of those decks. http://failedskateboards.com
- taox, on 04/12/2009, -1/+5Old school World Industries decks still beat everything.
http://www.skateboardgraphics.com/prod.php?id=263& ... - hendrixlives64, on 04/13/2009, -0/+3that electrik suicide stuff is hopelessly cliché.
- Daemastrius, on 04/12/2009, -1/+4Back when I used to skate, I would just buy blank decks and paint them myself.
It saves around $20-$40 and everyone always asks "What board are you riding? I've never seen that one before."
Feels good man. - taox, on 04/12/2009, -0/+3My apologies.
- fisj139, on 04/12/2009, -0/+3The problem is if you're actually using it, at least with a skateboard, the design will be gone in no time.
- thesportoflife, on 04/12/2009, -1/+3Supreme is way over hyped but I still love these decks.

Managed to cop all 3. Terry Richardson is the *****! - Igei, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2right on!
- Igei, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2I love skateboarding to death, but these decks(besides Andrew Graves) are the worst of the worst.
- sonicpentatonic, on 04/12/2009, -2/+4Needs more longboard.
At least with longboards the art will last a while. - ivan423, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2I like skateboards. I like to go really fast, and then people get scared and then they jump out of the way. Skateboards are too expensive.
- MarkCiccone, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2I never wasted my time buying expensive boards from skate companies, they would break just as fast as the blank decks I picked up for a fraction of the price. Though the Mike7 fractals are pretty sweet.
- jacktheripperr, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1neckface!
- aneliabg, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Awesome!
- cadmiumpaint, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1smashing magazine really needs new adjectives. Why must everything be "beautiful" or "amazing" why can't they just be "cool"?
- 1807, on 04/12/2009, -2/+3Independent makes the best trucks
- 1807, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1I am Jack's sarcastic enthusiasm
- Pie - Joodtimes, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Aaron Horkey has some great ones too.
- inactive, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1After watching Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory I just can't look at skating anymore without lolling.
- joephysco, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1deckpeck.com ftw
- samuelbreed, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1longboard = fail
hippie scum = car target - Igei, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1agreed. pretty much all of those sucked except for the Andrew graves foundation boards, which are awesome...
- KingGorilla, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1I just went on the site. Some of these designs were great, but some were very poor
- kellyut, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1Wow! They've come a long way since I was a "kid." My first skateboard (okay, and my only) had a dolphin on it. Lame.
- cyrix, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1They really remind me of daft punk....and that's a GOOD thing.
- nitzua, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Shout out to Jared Nickerson aka J3 Concepts.
- thelove, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1Should have done a shorter list... some of those are not that great.
- Sefus, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1He should have said: "if your skateboard is beautiful, you are not using it."
Personally, I don't buy a board for the art. They look nice tho. - Atex55, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1I like.
-Pie - gatorsactions, on 04/15/2009, -0/+0skateboards typically have really nice artwork. These are no exception.
- forknife, on 04/12/2009, -2/+1Nihilistic art is the most beautiful, there was an artist I once knew who would set his paintings on fire then pee on them when they were done. Temporal commodities. Impermanence. all that.
- Muntrue, on 04/12/2009, -4/+3What a stupid comment
- LANKumentary, on 04/12/2009, -2/+1you have no idea what you are talking about at all - do you?
- Angus5, on 04/12/2009, -4/+2Cool story, brah!
- Typographreak, on 04/12/2009, -4/+2I feel 13 years old again.
- one504, on 04/12/2009, -15/+10If your skateboard is "beautiful" you are wrong. Just sayin...
