- flosnap, on 01/03/2009, -6/+207These are ingenius. One of my personal favorites is the Sun Microsystems logo:

That's an old pic but I find the structure quite witty. - Blademan88, on 01/03/2009, -2/+120"Known as a Rebus logo, it displays a large red heart graphic to symbolise the word love, while representing the word New York with the two initials N and Y."
So THATS how it works, it uses a large red heart to display love. I thought it was just I and then weird red ink blob, and then NY being a misprint of Nay - Shootfast, on 01/03/2009, -5/+114Whoa, I've seen that logo a million times, but only just noticed that each side of the S makes the letters U N on the other sides. I thought it was just 4 S's :(
- BrendanSheehan, on 01/02/2009, -4/+113"20 Weird Logos That Work (and Why They Do)"
And then he includes: "The simple yet highly recognisable mark of the I Love New York" - groo68, on 01/03/2009, -1/+101These aren't really weird, just most of them are well designed, the title annoys me.
- ricperry1, on 01/02/2009, -7/+91umop episdn
- bmson, on 01/03/2009, -5/+75I'm digging you up
- bmson, on 01/03/2009, -6/+76I'm digging you down
- paulvq, on 01/03/2009, -0/+69I see what you may or may not be doing there.
- ghostoftomjoad, on 01/03/2009, -3/+66im glad the author discribed the genus of each one or other wise i wouldnt understand the heart meant love and the ny meant new york. what i've been missing!
- darladoon, on 01/03/2009, -2/+60"often it's the more unique logos which are memorable"
shocking! - punkcat, on 01/03/2009, -4/+57nice logos but he makes an ass out of himself explaining them.
- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -1/+50Creative and effective, yes, but weird? I don't think so.
- JonTheGoose, on 01/03/2009, -5/+52Schizophrenic one made me chuckle.
- Kamino, on 01/02/2009, -2/+46Love the London Symphony Orchestra one. The 'miniplanet effect' used on the Metroplex logo is too overused to be included in this list in my opinion.
- maximumsteve1, on 01/03/2009, -0/+44Reading his captions felt like I was reading an assigned high school paper.... writing the obvious to reach that word count.
- ileftfark, on 01/03/2009, -0/+42"Are you going to buy this time, or are you just curious?"
"I suppose I'm... 'buy-curious'." - oboshoe, on 01/03/2009, -5/+47Suprised Fedex didn't make the list.
Google "fedex logo" to see what I'm talking about and why its special - bunit03057, on 01/03/2009, -5/+45Hate to be a douche but I think they are confusing schizophrenia with Dissociative Identity Disorder which resembles schizophrenia though is not the same.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiple_personality_ ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizophrenia - thaglove10, on 01/03/2009, -0/+39The part I liked most of any logo was the text on Modern Nerd, how they made the "D" and the "N" look the same so it said "Modern" and "Nerd"........
Then the guy didn't even mention that in the reasons why he liked the logo. - inactive, on 01/02/2009, -2/+39Interesting story :)
The upside down is somewhat creative. The other like 7&6 and candy are cool - tinybubs, on 01/03/2009, -4/+41I think the Washington State Cougars logo is pretty good. I know it's a sports team but I think it's very clever.
http://wsucougars.cstv.com/ - TunisEleven, on 01/03/2009, -1/+34fail.
- jay314, on 01/03/2009, -0/+32The LSO logo is great.. it actually looks like a conductor's head and arms.
- Pruvmerong, on 01/03/2009, -4/+33Damn, you beat me to it.
- elambing, on 01/03/2009, -1/+29that was my favorite, mainly because it took me a few seconds to realize that it actually was regular text written upside down
- inactive, on 01/03/2009, -1/+26He doesn't really explain why they work, just says what the logos are....which is pretty obvious anyway.
- SacraBos, on 01/03/2009, -0/+22I guess that just goes along with B(.)(.)BS...
- inactive, on 01/03/2009, -2/+23Bloggers are idiots, I miss proper journalism.
- yournightmare, on 01/03/2009, -0/+20It's weird that the author didn't even mention that, that's one of the things that make it so great.
- username7410, on 01/03/2009, -15/+34Those are all pretty ***** logos. The schizophrenic one isn't even accurate to that disease.
How about this logo...
VAG(I)NA
wierd, but it works, right? - inactive, on 01/03/2009, -11/+30It's actually "umop apisdn".
- diggamatron, on 01/03/2009, -0/+18Instead, spend 5 minutes on http://www.logopond.com
And you get no silly explanations as to why you should like them! - thebrokenlight, on 01/03/2009, -0/+18:(: is my new favorite emoticon.
- dananabanana, on 01/03/2009, -2/+20It looks like a mutant snail.
- phlipsyde, on 01/03/2009, -2/+19hahaha same here that's freakin awesome
- inactive, on 01/03/2009, -0/+15But they didn't explain what "I" represents... I was so disappointed.
- Pinkertinkle, on 01/03/2009, -0/+15It appears to me that the logo confuses schizophrenia and dissociative identity disorder.
- lolupissed, on 01/03/2009, -3/+18Can you make a power digger logo? Please wear it too
- 2of8, on 01/03/2009, -1/+15I agree. I posted a very similar comment on Reddit when the story was just submitted.
"Seems rather.. boring. For example, the way it talks about I<3NY: "large red heart graphic to symbolise the word love, while representing the word New York with the two initials N and Y". Wow. Did that really have to be said?" - sephiroth965, on 01/03/2009, -2/+15You still got the "i" wrong...
- crossmr, on 01/03/2009, -1/+14he also gives no evidence that these "work" he only explains the supposed meaning behind the logo. He doesn't go on to demonstrate that people recognize this meaning and like the organization because of the logo. If I was trying to determine if a logo "worked" that would be how I would test it.
- captaincanuck76, on 01/03/2009, -0/+13Sounds like you need a new graphic designer.
- AmyVernon, on 01/02/2009, -0/+13I liked upside down, too, as well as Bison.
- oboshoe, on 01/03/2009, -2/+15Well thats pretty much it. Just a cool design.
special might be to strong a word. - LowFuel, on 01/03/2009, -0/+12What you need, my friend, is a catchy logo.
- inactive, on 01/03/2009, -3/+15Studio Eight, what a work of art!
- shoppingkart, on 01/03/2009, -0/+12I'm weird and still, nobody remembers me.
- boomqweeshaa, on 01/03/2009, -1/+13Great, never again will I be able to look at that logo without focusing on the arrow.
