- ClarkLab, on 06/14/2009, -0/+19what a hideous group of typefaces
- rrobots, on 06/14/2009, -0/+15These are pretty awful
- SeverTomorrow, on 06/14/2009, -0/+12Pyramid = *****.
MOD = Illegible
Cube = I don't know, it might be a bit clearer if it wasn't in Cyrillic. - scubachef11, on 06/14/2009, -1/+12The skin one. Gross.
- DirtPile, on 06/14/2009, -1/+9I love using fonts no one can read!
- vsujohn2, on 06/14/2009, -4/+11What? No comic sans?
- chessthecat, on 06/14/2009, -1/+8Helvetica will never be boring. Layouts using Helvetica maybe but not the typeface itself. It's absolute perfection.
- styletime, on 06/14/2009, -2/+8Some great fonts but did you need to include the skin one? ;) Ouch that must of hurt! Cheers!
- str1fe, on 06/14/2009, -1/+6The description talks about Helvetica as if it's bad in some way.
- Intention, on 06/14/2009, -0/+5More sick of the overused hand-drawn 3d type seen in every michael cera movie.
- joe122370, on 06/14/2009, -1/+6wow 25 terrible type faces that are completely useless
- SeverTomorrow, on 06/14/2009, -0/+5Tell me about it. Five of them are so terrible that I can't even see them.
- Myztry, on 06/14/2009, -3/+7It's good to see some colour in some of the fonts. Screen fonts are unbearably bland compared to the old skool styles.
I'm not talking about animated type fonts but something as trivial as sunset (or whatever) fonts are obvious in their absence.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2w-tiRnac2k - eleraama, on 06/14/2009, -1/+5When will people learn that you don't use a display face for setting text? Body faces are "boring" for readability (ie, Helvetica, TNR, Garamond). Display faces are for "pop" in titles, etc (Sunday Morning Garage Sale, Akashi, Rosewood). Trust me, you wouldn't want to read an entire document set in any of these faces (except perhaps ecofont). Helvetica and Origam are not designed to compete, but to complement each other.
- phunlee, on 06/14/2009, -1/+5I couldn't see myself using any of these. Unless it was 1995 again.
/snark - blapierre, on 06/14/2009, -1/+4Could have done without skinographie. Thanks.
- TBBucs, on 06/14/2009, -0/+3Looks like a big flapping vagina.
- HouseofEl, on 06/14/2009, -0/+3To be fair being pretty and creative aren't the same thing.
- jw21, on 06/14/2009, -1/+4On print, Helvetica/Arial will never be out of style. Capitalized, the Swiss-made typeface conveys a bigger meaning and stands out better than, say, Tahoma/Verdana or Lucida. The 'a's and 'R's are also very unique.
Nice to see freeware fonts being featured though. But seriously, how many of them, besides headlines and headings, would you actually use? Readability is the key. - fatabbot, on 06/14/2009, -1/+4Very useful resource and great background info on each font... it's making its way to my bookmarks. I really liked the creativity of the Cube font and the Origam font, but the skinographie font makes my skin crawl.
- zip000, on 06/14/2009, -0/+2I thought it looked more like a scrotum.
- asgardshill, on 06/14/2009, -1/+2I really do have only one requirement for any typeface - readability at all usable font sizes. Everything else is negotiable and optional.
- jkleinrichert, on 06/15/2009, -0/+1buried
- jkleinrichert, on 06/15/2009, -0/+1touché
- avideodream, on 06/14/2009, -0/+1Would have loved to see more creative fonts that were also readable.....here....i'll 'create' a font for you right now: . .. ... .... ..... ...... ....... ........ ......... .......... ........... ............ ............. ..............
............... ................ ................. ................. .................. ................... .................... ......................
........................ .......................... ............................. ...............................
This is just the lower case...for the upper case, use /, //, ///, etc. It's clear enough as long as you keep them in alphabetical order, but just as useless as most of the others we just saw when actually used to communicate. - phunlee, on 06/14/2009, -0/+1That's what she said.
- robmausser, on 06/14/2009, -0/+1wouldn't outlined and skinny-lined fonts be even more eco-friendly? And not look like the back of a studded jean jacket or something else awful.
Or you know, you could just start using natural based dyes if you are really so concerned. - souLLy, on 06/14/2009, -0/+1Unique maybe, but almost none would be appropriate to use in real design work
- pressxtoveto, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1Font is useless if I have to spend more than a second deciphering a letter.
- inactive, on 06/15/2009, -0/+1Worst looking fonts list I've ever suffered through. Should be named 20 fonts that should never be used.
- inactive, on 06/14/2009, -1/+2I'm working on a penis font. It's along the same lines as that skin font.
- oda1, on 06/14/2009, -1/+2That's because you like attention.
- aserer511, on 06/15/2009, -0/+1other than akashi, these are trash
- PeterFile, on 06/14/2009, -0/+1I think the Ecofont is really clever. It's the only font i'm going to download from that list.
- nitrodee, on 06/14/2009, -2/+2Most of this I haven't seen and most of them I like. I don't think many people will find a use for the Renaissance type face though it is too niched.
- HouseofEl, on 06/14/2009, -1/+1http://mw4.m-w.com/dictionary/uniqueness
- gurudatt143, on 06/15/2009, -1/+1Attractive typeface in this list...
- bromac, on 06/14/2009, -4/+4Ok, I'll be the one to say it: uniqueness isn't a word. You're either unique or not.
Bring on the folks who say something can be more unique than something else. - inactive, on 06/14/2009, -2/+1This is just what I need for today. Digg... you read my mind.
- macmcraeart, on 06/14/2009, -2/+1its not about the type faces - it's all about how you use them.
- fuzzynyanko, on 06/14/2009, -2/+1Decent fonts, but not all of them really usable.
- boxoctosis, on 06/14/2009, -2/+1I was all set to bury this, being kind of a Helvetica purist... But most of these fonts are rad!
- jamesallen74, on 06/14/2009, -2/+1On Pyramid, letters V and W remind me of something.
- afeitarse, on 06/14/2009, -3/+2I tried installing the Cinderella font, but it's in a set of .eps files. How the heck do I install that in windows?
- notrab89, on 06/14/2009, -3/+0Thanks for posting this to digg! It's just what I wanted to see for today, and as mentioned above, it's great to see colour in type today.
- hellz143, on 06/14/2009, -4/+0This is really weird who would thought of this!!!!!!
- blueocean87, on 06/14/2009, -5/+0THIS IS WHAT I THINK OF THIS:
Laurent HW - OK
Skinographie - DISGUSTING
Origram - NEAT AND EFFECTIVE (I really like it)
Pyramid - EVERYTHING LOOKS SAME
Megalopolis Extra - GIVES SENSE OF EUROPEAN POSTER STYLE
MOD - GONE ABOVE MY HEAD
Exus Pilot - TOO FAT
Cube - CHINESE
LDJ Crafty - TOO MUCH GRAPHICS
Plasti Puzzle Font - REMINDS ME OF PAC-MAN
Cinderella Decorative - WHAT THE HELL IS THIS (EMBROIDERY..????)
Sausage - LONG WORMS
Getting Blocky - EGYPTIAN
Akashi - VERY COMMON
Renaissance - WHAT IS THIS FOR??

What is Digg?
