- divinediva, on 11/13/2008, -3/+8Great post! It’s really inspiring to see such a wide range of photos showcasing a particular technique.
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -1/+4A lot of diggers weren't even here a year ago. So no real harm was done. Let it go soldier and carry on.
- Shakermaker, on 11/13/2008, -1/+4You mean....a DUPLICATE found it's way onto the front page!?
OH NOES!!!!
Welcome to Digg. - Regulator980, on 11/13/2008, -5/+8When it comes to taking night shots, it's imperative to use a tripod to mount your camera (preferably an D-SLR) so that the movement from your hands don't translate into a blurry shot.
By the way, if you want to recreate that shot with the driver and the streaking lights it's really easy. First, you get your tripod into your back seat and make sure it's extended and secured with a seat belt. Then you align/focus your camera and set the camera to take long exposures photos using a timer function or even better with a shutter remote. Turn off your flash when you do this!
This is my end result: http://www.flickr.com/photos/regulator/664694000/s ...
The longer the exposure, the more streaky the moving lights will be. - marioara, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2I've never been good at taking photos. Now I wish I were
- paidhima, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Under that race pic is a description showing it as a shot from Project Gotham Racing 4.
- MasonZombie, on 11/13/2008, -1/+3For real, none of these were really that amazing.
I did like, however, the teddy bear one and the circus ride one. - BarriedaleNick, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Photography has always been an art so spare us the windbaging.
In my day etc etc... - 2of8, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Yeah but others are.
- xGuerrillaRadio, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1No need. Just set the timer to a second or two so the shutter doesn't open as soon as you press the button.
- lofi4life, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Or with an SLR?
- se7en11, on 11/13/2008, -1/+2Along with a tripod, I would recommend using a remote since often when you press the button on the camera you tend to move the camera slightly.
- xiangxianni, on 02/13/2009, -0/+1SimpleAlex,Pls don't spam here,Thanks.
http://www.tips5.com - woodb, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1the last picture (the motorcycle race) - is that CGI? It certainly looks like it, but the rest look real.
Either way, you pictures are stunning :) - thisisjason, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1tell me more about these "dark rooms", oh wise one.

http://boyfriendpillow.net/ - 2of8, on 11/13/2008, -0/+0I ***** hate it when people think you need anything close to an expensive camera for things like this.
- mehan, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1BURIED!... for the Fail ;D
- BigLLamasHouse, on 11/13/2008, -2/+1These are cool and all, but I prefer to use blur to portray drunkeness
- Bernie, on 11/13/2008, -4/+2For Blur showing movement, if you like the carnival picture on the link, you may want to check out my shot of doing this on:

Halfway down have a Panoramic picture of the MD State Fair at night in the rain, with the same ride (and several others) running. Panorama is about 240 deg wide, with resolution posted up to: 9800x1200 pixels. All shot handheld at about a 1.5 second exposure (though a tripod would have made things lots easier). - macewan, on 11/13/2008, -3/+1what group of pencil dicks voted down all the comments?
- banmeagaindigg, on 11/13/2008, -6/+4zomg blured traffic shots!!!11
NO ONE HAS EVER DONE THAT BEFORE! - floort, on 11/13/2008, -5/+3Totally overdone blur. Lame.
- tempusrob, on 11/13/2008, -3/+1Uh, you're not even moving in that photo.
- ielephant, on 11/13/2008, -5/+2Stun guns...anyone?
- lofi4life, on 11/13/2008, -7/+4Wow really groundbreaking. You must be really skilled to be able to set you camera to a slow shutter speed.
/s - Zoshchenko, on 11/13/2008, -5/+1FAKE - Photoshopped!
- FixThePig, on 11/13/2008, -6/+2Cool Pic's!
- BonoRiau, on 11/13/2008, -6/+2Really GREAT photo. Skill always give good result.
- LDubs48, on 11/13/2008, -7/+3I agree with FixThePig, cool pics!

- apr35, on 11/13/2008, -6/+1I just got my D40 two days ago, I can't wait to start doing stuff like this!!
- ibeetle, on 11/13/2008, -7/+2Funny, there was a time when any decent photographer could make anyone of those pictures with a medium to high end SLR.
Now one has to use photoshop and it called art.
We were required to do pictures like those in our high school photo class... 30 years ago. And develop them in a darkroom... not print them out on a $100 Epson in 5 minutes. - SiRWhxr, on 11/13/2008, -7/+1DUGG!... for the Passat ;D
- pinkcockroaches, on 11/13/2008, -6/+0Gives new ideas to capture innovative photographs. Really innovative. Great job.
- aaronvandike, on 11/13/2008, -6/+0Slow shutter is the first thing anyone does with a Dslr, some are just awesome and some are just absolutely cliche.
- ToYKillAS, on 11/13/2008, -6/+0the attack of the giant yo-yo
- macewan, on 11/13/2008, -8/+1shout to peeps
- spepin, on 11/13/2008, -11/+4The one near the end, with the traffic streaks and lights is just awful.
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -19/+9These photos are older than Stonehenge and this was submitted 1 year and 84 days ago by VictorCheng. Buried.
