12 Ways to Make Better Use of Your Footer

2. Badge Farm - nothing but spam, i'll submit something if i think its good enough
3. Flickr stream - no one cares what pictures you take
4. “Elsewhere” - only useful for friends, family, dont make other users load all that crap
5. Blogroll - again no one cares what you read, just make a links page
6. Recommended reading - most sites will end up showing the same books
7. Affiliations - actually useful, you can make yourself look credible to employers and readers might like to know u actually do real work
8. Donations - unless you have an open source app or freeware app i dont know why u need this
9. MyBlogLog/BlogCatalog - who cares
10. Search box - necessary but why not just have a GO TO TOP link and have the search up there?
11. Repeat your “call to action” - worthwhile
12. A great quote - no one reads these
