lifeclever.com — "When I started wasting more and more time looking for lost items instead of being a brilliant creative person, I knew I had to do something. I got my desk organized, and have been miraculously keeping it clean for the past three months."

- pwill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Agreed. Site appears to be dying: http://www.duggmirror.com/design/10_tips_for_keeping_your_desk_clean_and_tidy/
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Step 1: Get a New Desk...
- testcase, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11The problem with advice like this is that you have to be really disciplined to follow it. And if you were really disciplined, you wouldn't have a messy desk in the first place, right? :)
- joethepeacock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not trying to be a jerk, but the majority of this advice is pulled almost directly from "Getting Things Done" by David Allen.

Not my site (I wish it was, the dude is a multi-million selling author).
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18Aw Kevin, did you even read this man?
"Pictures of loved ones remind us of what’s important in our lives. More than three on your desk, however, is a distraction. Instead, use Flickr to store photos which you can view in a slideshow during a break."
Pullllllleeeease- ROBERTCAT, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Yeah seriously, what the hell?
- franksmith, on 10/12/2007, -26/+10Messy desks are all Bush's fault
- D14BL0, on 10/12/2007, -14/+11That wasn't even remotely funny. Next time, make up a more long-winded conspiracy theory to back up your joke. Otherwise it's just a failure.
- steal_apps01, on 10/12/2007, -8/+7no no, bush jokes are almost as funny as chuck norris jokes, spongebob squarepants or the Stephen Colbert Bridge,...
So keep trying and they'll get up there.
- vanlandw, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Site seems to be digg banged :-(
- bionerual, on 10/12/2007, -9/+0nvm ersnyder beat me to it
- klang, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4meh .. I am sure that one of the tips was: "stop leaving ***** on your desk" so I don't think I'm missing out on anything.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4don't worry, they were all lame anyway

- vanlandw, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2thanks for the mirror :-)
- zeldafan, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3This is great... for a work desk.
The desk I'm using right now (home) has almost no relation to this article (the sticky notes is the only one.) - digitalsol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1good tips & nice site!
- Lososaurus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Looking at my desk, this info is totally pointless. I have to send out a search party when I'm looking for something :(
- steal_apps01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2what i use to organise in and out boxes or "commenly used items basket" is the 1$ for 3 baskets from dollarama, thank you dollarama and I hope you build a store next to my house.
- tomkinsc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3A clean desk is a sign of an empty mind.

An orderly desk is an entirely different animal, however.- actionscripted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Organize your desk when you have time. If you're working on something that requires you to get a bit messy, go for it.
The last thing on your mind should be a tidy desk when you're trying to be productive...

- SakuyasLove, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Its deffinatly a good start. But what about the master unorganizer? ME!
- StickyFinger, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0nice!
link is down :( - justinhancock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Just how big of a desk are we talking here? Unless you've got plenty of space, you won't even have room for the inbox after inbox after inbox that is described in the first step.
- ewok85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6My desk has a phone, a laptop, bottle of water, mobile and nintendo DS on it.
Now the drawers, thats a completely different issue :) - gd007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3no one can suggest any way to keep my desk clean. it is beyond reparation.
- butlershouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2These are good items of advice, and if your a life hacker then I might recommend tracking down Taming the Paper Tiger ( http://www.thepapertiger.com/ ) . Its advice is remarkably similar to this sites and it tackles many of the "mind set "issues related to staying organised. Since much of my paperwork has to be handled and organised by another employee Ive found the peer pressure of ensuring your keeping current is also a good motivator to stay tidy.
- prokhor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was really confused for a couple paragraphs - thought it was talking about my computer Desktop.
- panique, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2#11 - Clean the damn thing once in a while
- hosiah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No schwag at computer conventions, what the blazes, that's the only reason I go!
Most of it's for my kids, however. I always try to get two of everything, one for each kid. The only stuff I keep for myself is the Tshirts and the one or two coolest techie toys. - panzerfinder15, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I never thought of it, but a stackable slot system is really just what I need so I don't lose papers!!!! Best Digg post in a while, since those X1950XT's were reviewed.
- Bigbro69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was agreeing with the article until it mentioned banishing post-it notes... I mean, I've got an addiction to them, man. :(
- cuttlefish, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0O.o
Did Digg just jump the shark? - greatkingrat85, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No free schwag? I don't think so.
- orangetiki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Word!
- ricepudd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just angle my desk vertically 45 degrees. Keeps it completely clear of clutter!
As for the floor, however...- BuGz213, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3... is for the cleaners to worry about?...
- KrietoR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Something like this ???

LOOOL- dustedbunny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cleaning THAT desk would require a hazmat suit and a dump truck....
- diggmaddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@dustedbunny:
u mean the internet? :| - orangetiki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i'd be more worried about that person's bowels then the desk. That's all soda bottles.
- protogenxl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4They forgot "Buying a shredder so powerful that you start Shredding things for the shear joy of Shredding"
- Tagwen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I find the easiest way to ensure my desk is clean is to keep the mindset that I am getting fired and therefore I do not want to carry a bunch of junk out or have to clear my desk..
- decemberfall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0These are really great suggestions, I actually just started to use the first one, but seriously, everything else, i'm guilty of, and i don't think i'll EVER be able to get rid of post-it notes, I had a bulletin board bought for me and hung on my wall at work, cause I wouldn't stop sticking them on the walls.
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Don't keep your desk clean, your employer may think you quit.
