10 Steps to Keep Your New Website from Failing
neticulis.com — If this winds up on the front page, I hope the author followed his own advice on step 5.

- digg it
- jld1370, on 03/21/2008, -3/+1Good advice - I already need to focus on a few items myself....
Good luck getting to "the show" - Neticule, on 03/21/2008, -4/+2Hopefully if it hits front page the cache plugin for wordpress will help keep it from dying :P
- starbabe, on 03/21/2008, -2/+7Had to see what step 5 was. It would be really funny for this to go popular and crash the servers when the author says to make sure to have a reliable one.
- Neticule, on 03/21/2008, -1/+1I am sure hoping it doesn't, or I will look like a horses ass :P
- DeskFlyer, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2Because it was simply impossible to imagine what the submitter's description was implying.
- GalacticRerun, on 03/21/2008, -2/+4I'm on step 5 right now! There are reliable free hosting sites? I only want something to hold my portfolio, so not many people have gotta see it, and I don't wanna be paying much per month for only a few views every so often. And one based in the UK preferably.
Yes diggers, this is a thinly veiled quest for suggestions. - perot9296, on 03/21/2008, -2/+16Step 1) Write what everyone already knows
Step 2) Submit it to Digg with a good title
Step 3) People Digg it without reading it or to bookmark it
Skip steps 4-9
Step 10) Make money off of Adsense
Sorry this article sucks. Buried.- Neticule, on 03/21/2008, -3/+1There is only one small adsense ad on the page :o/ would be lucky if it paid for cost of hosting the blog.
- macbookhair, on 03/22/2008, -1/+0you fail. I literally make 3600% profit on the cost of my web hosting per year.
- jjjoey, on 03/21/2008, -1/+5Right on. This article is dull, blatantly obvious, and not entertaining in any way. NOT digg front page material.

- trghpy, on 03/22/2008, -1/+1Step 11.
Prevent your site from being black listed from tools such as web sense.
"Reason: The Websense category "Sex" is filtered." - borez, on 03/22/2008, -1/+4I'm digging this for a "Proof is in the pudding" Step 5 experiment only
The rest of it sucked. - brutusx, on 03/22/2008, -1/+1The only step that matters: Try!
- canthraxp, on 03/22/2008, -3/+11Step 1. Pick a good idea. (No ***** sherlock)
Step 2. Pick a good name! (Again, no ***** sherlock)
Step 3. Start writing your content before you go any further! (that's a good tip)
Step 4. Take the time to make a nice layout. (Coming from a guy who's website is fugly)
Step 5. Get a RELIABLE host set up. (but.. but.. I like my server being down)
Step 6. Get everything set up before you put your link anywhere! (...)
Step 7. Get feedback! (important acutally)
Step 8. Get some link trades. (aka. Annoy everyone on msn like "HEY DUDE, CHECK OUT MY WEBSITE!", or digg friend abuse)
Step 9. Start pimping out your site. (That's not a tip, ***** hoe *bitchslaps*)
step 10. Update every day, and make it obvious. (There's plenty of obvious on this website, don't need anymore, please)
I say 2/10 things there are useful, but apparently, no one likes lists with 2 topics. - drmsucks, on 03/22/2008, -3/+2Learn the difference between "your" and "you're."
- camino262, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1He has it right. f you can't substitute "you are" for you're, then it won't work. Ex: 10 Steps to Keep "You are" New Website from Failing
That doesn't make sense so your is the right choice.

- str1fe, on 03/22/2008, -2/+1It hasn't even been front paged yet and I'm getting "server not found".
- digitallysick, on 03/22/2008, -2/+1porn?
- amanilaenvelope, on 03/22/2008, -2/+1irony that his list talks about how not to fail a website when his own ***** just so happens to do all the majors "no-nos"
- mastahack, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1number 11: have it made by kevin rose.
- drmobutu, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1All the other advice is ***** - what you need to do, is find a virgin, and drop her into the nearest volcano...
- Alex2, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1Lots of em on Digg... Slashdot too!
- GhostyBoy, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1Can someone tell me where the heck you can get an 8 dollar dot com?
- theliamburns1, on 03/22/2008, -0/+0same rhetoric, again......
