About
Dee-Ann LeBlanc is a writer, editor, course developer, and trainer specializing in Linux and open source. The fact that she enjoys a broad spectrum of teaching methods and venues is reflected in the scope of her work. Keeping the projects around a fairly specific specialty has helped her to avoid becoming scattered while letting her enjoy the variety of many mediums.
As a computer book author, Dee-ann has written fourteen books, including "Linux for Dummies" and more technical titles such as "Linux Routing." She has also written over three-hundred articles in a combination of technology journalism and how-to pieces. An additional writing venue for her is her Freelance Survivor (http://www.freelancesurvivor.com/) blog, where she shares her experience on how to make it in the feast or famine world of freelancing, and also interviews other freelancers to help her readers understand how they do it as well.
As an editor, she's been part of magazine editorial mastheads for publications such as "LinuxWorld Magazine" and the "Linux Journal." She has also consulted for computer book publishers to help them improve their Linux book lines, and done technical and developmental editing on computer books.
As a course developer, Dee-Ann has developed more than twenty courses, including being a key member of the team that created and then maintained the online material for Red Hat's official online courses. Her courses range from introductions to word processing software to deeply technical custom courses for specific corporate IT departments, along with a series of specialist courses for Splunk.
As a trainer, she's presented numerous classes to Linux beginners, Linux system administrators, Solaris and Windows administrators needing to learn Linux, and on other technical topics. Dee-Ann has made radio and television appearances with notables such as Leo Laporte to help people better understand Linux, and has presented workshops and tutorials at numerous technical conferences.
When she's not creating technical content, Dee-Ann spends time with her husband Rob, her three dogs, her PS3, any projects that manage to distract her, and her treadmill. Fortunately, she does not attempt to do all of these things at once.
