That being said, screw it. I'm burying this as well. People who post Xkcd are abusing the webcomic to gain free frontpage submissions.- BestJaxx, on 03/01/2008, -5/+11Or allowing people who may be new and never heard of it, or simply forgot to check today, to see such an amazing comic.
- NullPolarity, on 03/01/2008, -11/+2Never heard of it before today == Total newb to Digg == Fail. I think Randall gets enough exposure on the Internet these days, so pardon me if I don't join the fanboy brigade currently burying me into oblivion.

We get the point, xkcd is great and wonderful. Stop whoring every new comic to the front page.- chubbstar, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1i have to point out that not every one makes it to the front page, in fact, since the algo change much less actually have.

this lame ass comic makes it to the front page, 3X a week. Coincidentally the site also updates 3 times a week.
you know you like this stupid comic, why not bookmark its site, and check it three times a week- Akaji, on 03/01/2008, -2/+11It's only a lame ass-comic to those who don't get the jokes. Incidentally, those who don't get the jokes are those who really shouldn't have been on Digg in the first place (that is, back when it was actually a technology/computing site).

- NullPolarity, on 03/01/2008, -8/+1I can get the jokes and still not particularly find them to be amusing. I suppose you laugh about poo jokes as well because you can relate to the experience of passing solid excretory matter?

- NullPolarity, on 03/01/2008, -8/+4I used to enjoy this comic, actually, and sometimes I still do, but lately the quality has been slipping. Too much trite emo rubbish, and even though that isn't the case 100% of the time, the sheer volume of Digg submissions of every single new comic only serves to magnify its banality.
- nbcaffeine, on 03/01/2008, -4/+3My friends and I have dubbed the lame ones he does between the geeky jokes as "EmoKCD"
make with the science and the math - chubbstar, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1"romance, sarcasm, math, and language"
so romance = emo? perhaps. but at least there was no ulterior motives about what the comic would be about so ragging on it for being what it already claimed to me seems strange.
- nbcaffeine, on 03/01/2008, -4/+3My friends and I have dubbed the lame ones he does between the geeky jokes as "EmoKCD"
- wolferz, on 03/01/2008, -2/+3look at it on a larger scale, and from the perspective of an editor, like that of a magazine. Would viewers rather go some where that has lots stories about the same exact thing from the same exact source over and over and over or would they prefer to go some where where they can see new stuff constantly?
Now the way this translates to digg is that stories of interest are voted to the front page and stories lacking in interest are ether buried to oblivion or end up in limbo some where between. Unfortunately when enough people who like the same thing get together on a digg they tend to dig the same stories to the front page over and over and over. Sure... if the site is producing content worthy of interest it should receive props for that. However getting front page on digg repeatedly isn't the right way to do that (in the case of something like a comic, or the changelog of a OSS project who's content is generally in the same topic over and over). The end result is a gradual lowering of the digg's over all quality and an eventual lessoning of digg it self's worth. People who are tired of seeing the same stuff over and over, or seeing old stories, etc will eventualy lose interest in digg.
Perhaps that doesn't matter to you, after all you aren't making any money off of these advertisements any way... but if you want to know why some people have an issue with seeing the same thing on the front page constantly, this is why. Not that they should go as over board or be as offensive about it as they tend to.

- xptoast, on 03/01/2008, -5/+2Lucid dream eh? I know this is weird but it's something I have somewhat come to terms with, but....everyday is a lucid dream to me in that I can't tell if what I am doing is completely real or not. Here's a good picture for that feeling...

- unfinite, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Ah, alright. I get it now. I thought at first that his brain was trying to trick him somehow into not waking up. I know mine does that. Waking up after a long night of working in 3ds max, my dream is usually something along the lines of: I have to eliminate triangles from a mesh or get proper edge flow or tweak something so it will stop passing through other object when it animates. I should see a therapist haha!

- MadOtaku, on 03/01/2008, -0/+4Though not romantic in nature, I've had a dream that spanned years. It's the worst feeling ever when you wake up; imaging if everyone you met and the memories you made for the last 3-4 years (all of which were pretty good) suddenly dissolved and you found yourself in bed in the "past".
- arjie, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2I can totally relate to that. Totally. It's almost like you've been cheated out of your life.
- Netrilix, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Intentionally or not, you bordered on a good quote from Donnie Darko, while the therapist is talking to Donnie. "If the sky were to suddenly open up there would be no law. There would be no rule. There would only be you and your memories… the choices you’ve made, and the people you’ve touched."

- TBBucs, on 03/01/2008, -7/+2Anyone else think Digg should get an XKCD section?

- underdog82, on 03/01/2008, -5/+0Does anyone else think this has something to with this comic (http://xkcd.com/383/)? When I first read it I got the feeling he wasn't trying to be funny. Something about having nightmares about his friend. Or maybe I'm just not getting some joke.
- influenceuh, on 03/01/2008, -4/+4man XKCD is really on digg too much. why?
- chubbstar, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1because people who like it digg it up. weird eh?
- cap11235, on 03/01/2008, -3/+1Hmm, my nightmares always involve me becoming homicidal. Well, off to see my therapist.
- bliz, on 03/01/2008, -3/+2Guess what? xkcd's not even valid xhtml1.1 as it claims to be in its doctype:
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fxkc ...
urgh.. so much for being geeky..- SSUK, on 03/01/2008, -0/+2That checker is pedantic, it lists every other " and "&" for no good reason.
- bliz, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1I wonder if you've actually seen the errors stated by the validator. In any case, w3 developed the standards for xml (xhtml) and if you claim to be following the standard you have to.
In fact, you don't even need to be pedantic to find an error in the source. With an additional </table> there it's not even well-formed xml to begin with.
- MaxMWood, on 03/01/2008, -2/+2Am I the only one who finds quite alot of the XKCD comics.. Not funny atall?
- 265358979323846, on 03/03/2008, -0/+0that's because your probably the same kind of idiot who doesnt find my username funny at all...
- AngryAngryBrian, on 03/01/2008, -0/+4More and more of his comics lately have been kind of depressing. To be honest I am a little concerned.
- 265358979323846, on 03/03/2008, -0/+0I don't know how many comics in total are on that page but it's freakin awesome. I've been reading through them for the past hour or so and i don't think I'm done yet.
