- bannus, on 11/05/2008, -13/+252Its gonna be a while before I get to sleep, I'm so pumped up from the election. Congratulations to Barack Obama, and my condolences to McCain, who gave a truly classy concession speech.
Oh, and xkcd was rather funny as well. I think I'll forever be an election junkie. - gonegoogling, on 11/05/2008, -8/+211Tron Paul 2012!

- doublefelix, on 11/05/2008, -0/+30It has served its purpose, Nate Silver is a high paid political consultant now.
- sockpuppets, on 11/05/2008, -2/+31Was the last 8 years filled with ice cream and magic pony rides?
- burstaneurysm, on 11/05/2008, -0/+28I'm amazed that I wasn't fired during this political season, I haven't done ***** at work in months.
- benplaut, on 11/05/2008, -0/+27Yep--now I can (hopefully) go back to really respecting McCain again like I did a few years ago--the concession speech was the first step.

- specter19, on 11/05/2008, -1/+27Kinda has the Christmas morning feel. You're glad it came, but at the same time you miss that feeling of excitement building up to it.
- dvsbastard, on 11/05/2008, -5/+31Well I just added all the political topics back on my digg account.... I am hoping they will be once again filled with useful news from abroad and not just campaign spam!
- JoshuaGross, on 11/05/2008, -0/+26No... because for the next 2 years, Digg will be filled with stories about (a) awesome things Obama is doing, (b) terrible things Obama is doing, and (c) awesome things Ron Paul would be doing, were her president.
Then, for the last two years of Obama's presidency, Digg will be filled with stories about the next candidates.
We'll never be free. Give up all hope. Resistance is futile. - sockpuppets, on 11/05/2008, -0/+26I look forward to seeing the Light Cycle runoffs.

- ejacobwolf, on 11/05/2008, -0/+15you mean the five-thirty-eight that predicted the election almost exactly correctly?
- skywake, on 11/05/2008, -2/+17People said the same thing here in Australia after we kicked out John Howard after 11 years to bring in Kevin Rudd and a "wall to wall" Labor Government. Apparently the world would implode, interest rates would skyrocket, the economy would collapse and his promises of "change" would not be met.
So far however our economy has been standing strong in times of financial crisis, our government has finally apologised for the stolen generation and interest rates have fallen. One could argue that Rudd is "watching" a lot of thing and has had a lot of discussions and not much "real" action thus far but at least he is listening (or appearing to listen) to "the people". Change is necessary for progress so swallow your political pride and STFU. - aleceiffel87, on 11/05/2008, -1/+15Did anyone else google that?
- metapop, on 11/05/2008, -5/+19search-bomb! we'll do it at 1AM CST to commemorate the boston tea party! and then next week same time to commemorate thomas jefferson's cousin's birthday!

- chezidom, on 11/05/2008, -1/+10You need to keep yourself informed.
- JEWestbrookJR, on 11/05/2008, -2/+11I agree. The John McCain I saw last night was the John McCain that I used to respect. I really think that a lot of this wasn't so much McCain as it was the people acting as his puppeteers. If he won, it would have only gotten worse. I expect some sort of apology or at least acknowledgment that his campaign was run unfairly, because that's the type of guy McCain is. You could really see it on his face last night that he realized he had created a monster when he was trying to admire Obama and his supporters just wouldn't have it. With all the booing, hissing, shouting... Upon mention of McCain, in a much larger crowd, you didn't get that from Obama supporters. I think McCain is ashamed that he allowed his campaign to paint Obama as dangerous and an enemy.
