http://www.xyzimaging.com/ - 42nnn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7does anyone remember the Holographic video game that was out in the late 80's early 90's it had something to do with cowboys but it was holographic, it was a big ass arcade machine, but it was also full color
- robszol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Canadian, yeye
- meamog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This reminds me of the pictures and paintings in the Harry Potter stories, and I have to say, I want a picture frame that could do that.
- CrimsonBlur, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Those games didn't use holograms. It just used a standard projector and mirrors to mimic a holographic display. Did you seriously believe that we had floating holographic display technology back in the 80's?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3good old 2d film displaying 3d pictures on a 2d video....

- danmanx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ah...Time Traveler...I bought the DVD version for like $5...I think I got ripped off!
- vertinox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow. I remember the old holograms there were all golden and green. These new ones look awesome.
- noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've seen that terminator one, but that animated football kick is awesome.
- NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My college has one of these in one of their art building hallways.
- Tazmaster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Sega made two hologram arcade units. One was the one you mentioned. It played very much like Dragon's Lair. The other was a fighting game like Street Fighter 2. I can't remember the names of either of them. Sorry.
I do remember that people gathered around those machines constantly. Nothing was more annoying than people passing their hands through the image while you were trying to play! - SeoulBrother, on 10/12/2007, -1/+242nnn, I remember that game. Time Traveler! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Traveler_(video_game) . The "holographic" effects were done with mirrors and projected images on glass.
Lame game play a la Dragon's Lair and it cost .50¢ to play! Gimme some Street Fight II any day.
List of video games released in 1991. http://klov.com/year_detail.php?year=1991&orig_game_id=10124&letter=T - rapeandruin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i'd digg this if it didn't look like a god damn 3d rendering...if they had people talking by looking at it...or going behind it i'd totally digg it...
- thomashallock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't get it. The essence of a hologram is that you get different images depending on the direction you view them hologram from. What is new / different about this?
- TwwIX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hologram+porn=me very happy
- Funkomoto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll bet this video doesn't do it justice. Seems like it would be really cool to see in person
- cubbieco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where did world's first come from? I saw similar pictures 15 years ago.
- malice8691, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Right on. Now lets see it with porn.
- nepawoods, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not what it seems.
You're not going to get both animated motion (beyond simple rotation of a still object, i.e. seeing it from different angles as you move around it) AND 3-D.
The way these things work is that you see a different image depending on the viewing angle.
If the different images correspond to a stationary scene being rotated, then the left and right eyes will see the same scene from slightly different angles, and you get 3D.
If the different images correspond to more general motion animation, then one eye will see an image of the scene as it was at a different time than the image the other eye sees. You won't have 3D, you'll have a headache. Close one eye and move around the image, and you'll see a 2D animated film. Open both eyes and move around the image, and each eye sees the 2D animated film, but out of synch.
No 3D animation. 3D or animation - not both. - ericeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"*GASP* We have the technology for Harry Potter pictures now!"
I thought the exact same thing! This actually could be a really cool new advancement in photography. The video shows a soccer player- that could be your son or daughter in the picture in their high school sports team uniform. It's got potential. - DavisTheDigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1would hav been better if the 3d thing was the only thing in the video
- Fractl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0MIT has a huge collection of Holograms in their museum (anyone in Boston/Cambridge should visit...admission is dirt cheap). I recall seeing some animated/color holograms...but they weren't half as amazing as some of the holographic portraits.
- hodyoaten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is this a rendering? I'm not really convinced.
- KYDS3K, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1the Street Fighter type game was Holosseum:

i used to love when you lost, the dude would say "you LOSE . . . because you did not fight with ALLLLL your soul!" - sxtxixtxcxh, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3yes.
- Loshunter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its real...This video is better in my opinion because it shows a guy interacting with the hologram by placing some other holograms in front of it....
http://www.xyzrgb.com/holos/terminator.html - JamesWyatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This has already been digged awhile back ago with a big T3 display..

I really apologize in advance for this - I really, really do. But I just can't keep it in anymore. I've tried, I really have.
So just indulge me for a moment, if you will. And for those this might offend, please skip to the next comment.
!!!!----!!!!----JUMP ON THIS YOU ***** BLOGO-ASSHAT----!!!!----!!!!
Thank you. You may return to your normal digging. - sembetu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I call fake. Thos images look photshopped. If they could really do this, we would already know about it. Seriously, this looks so 1980's sci-fi. I could do that better with some crayons or an etch-a-sketch.
- spyda45, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3*GASP* We have the technology for Harry Potter pictures now!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I remember the game... you had to shoot cubes and stuff.
It wasn't holographic though. It was a 'flat' image reflected off of glass. It only appeared holographic because they had real little plastic cubes in the screen.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Traveler_(video_game) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4#1 this is old
#2 can the actual video be any smaller?
The video is bigger and better on their website.
